Table - best surf conditions forecast for Zandvoort over the next 16 days.
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—this outlook for the next couple of weeks is a tough one. We’ve got a long, long stretch of poor surf conditions ahead, so don't get your hopes up.
The pattern starts with virtually nothing. From Friday the 10th right through until the early morning of Sunday the 19th, we are looking at a blank run. That’s over a week with no real surf to speak of. The waves are tiny, the wind is messy, and it’s just not worth paddling out for. The few bits of swell we do see are weak, with combined energy values barely reaching triple digits (maxing out at 89 on the 12th), and the wind is all cross or cross-onshore, chopping everything up.
The only real standout—and I mean the *only* one—comes up on the morning of Sunday the 19th. Finally, some swell pushes in. Zandvoort will see a clean 4ft wave from the NNW, with a period of 7 seconds. The wind is onshore, but it’s a moderate breeze, so while it’s not perfect, it’s surfable. The combined energy jumps to 118 (moderate), which is a welcome change.
This swell builds through Sunday afternoon to 4ft (energy 149), and then peaks on Monday the 20th. Monday morning you’re looking at 6ft from the NNW, with an 8-second period. That’s a solid 6ft, and combined energy hits 353 (strong). Problem is, the wind is still onshore, moderate breeze. It’s gonna be a bit lumpy and closed out in places, but for a beach break like Zandvoort, this is the best you’re gonna get. This size is pushing it for beginners—over 5ft, so keep that in mind.
Water temp on Friday the 10th is 68°F, and that’s a whopping 7°F warmer than normal for this time of year. Very unusual, and it’ll feel like a warm bath.
After that peak, the swell slowly fades through the rest of the week. By the 23rd, we get a glassy morning with a tiny 2ft, and the 24th has a flat calm, glassy morning with only 0.7ft. Not worth it.
So, to sum it up: wait for Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th. That’s your window. It’s not perfect, but it’s the only real swell on the cards. The rest is a write-off.
Rusty.
