Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. The outlook for the next couple of weeks is grim. There is nothing on offer that I’d call a good surf day. From now until the 14th of July, the forecast is a write-off.
Looking at the whole sixteen-day window, the main problem is that Zandvoort is a sandbar that’s exposed to the northwest, but the wind is constantly on it, cross-on, or just strong enough to mess it up. The swell is small, the wind is wrong, and it’s just a mess. We see weak wave energy for nearly all of it, with values mostly well under 100 for the first week, then dropping to almost nothing for days after that. It’s a long, dry spell.
There is one slight flicker of life on Tuesday morning the 14th of July. The wind goes light and offshore from the south, with a 3.6ft swell from the northwest. The wave comment says it’s surfable but very ordinary. The energy is moderate at best, and it’s a 6-second period, so it’s windswell, not groundswell. It wouldn’t be a standout anywhere, but here, it’s the only thing that’s not a total zero.
Other than that, every single session in the file is rated zero out of ten. The water temperature anomaly on opening day is 4.6° warmer than normal, which is very unusual. The sea is 68.0°. But you won't be enjoying it because the surf is poor.
For the rest of the second week, from around the 15th onward, the swell dies completely for several days. There’s a tiny pulse of 4.6ft from the NNW on the 18th, but it’s cross-onshore and choppy, with moderate wave energy. Still no good.
Honestly, for this area, a blank run like this is not that unusual. Don’t hold your breath, but keep an eye out. Forecasts do change.
