Table - best surf conditions forecast for Zandvoort over the next 16 days.
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you about the lineup ahead. We’re looking at a pretty grim stretch for Zandvoort over the next two weeks. The swell is tiny, the wind is mostly messy, and the quality is just not there. The water is a weirdly warm 68° right now, which is about 7° above normal for the time of year – that’s very unusual, but it won't make the waves any better.
The next 16 days are a real struggle. There’s a huge gap of poor to non-existent surf from now until late in the week. The first few days have almost no energy, with swell heights barely scraping 1 ft to 2 ft and short periods of 5 to 7 seconds. The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, making it choppy and junky. Don't even bother until later.
Thursday morning, July 9th, is a write-off. A tiny 2 ft swell from the north with a weak period of 7 seconds and a mere 24 combined energy. The wind is light from the NW, but it's onshore, so it's blown out. No good.
Friday, July 10th, is a little cleaner in the morning with a light NE cross-off breeze, but the swell is still tiny at 1 ft from the north and only 6 combined energy. There’s nothing to ride.
The weekend is a total loss. Saturday, July 11th, and Sunday, July 12th, have poor, choppy conditions with moderate to fresh winds straight onshore or cross-on. The swell is small and weak.
The best chance we see is a small window on Monday, July 20th. It’s far out, but the morning has a light offshore wind from the SE, which will clean things up. The swell is only 3 ft from the NNW with a period of 7 seconds, and the combined energy is a weak 62. It’s a long shot, but the offshore wind might make it surfable for a beginner. The break is an inconsistent sandbar that can be crowded sometimes, so don't get your hopes up.
The only other thing that catches my eye is a big pulse of 8 ft swell from the WSW late on Friday, July 24th, with a massive 637 combined energy. The period is a short 7 seconds though, and the wind is onshore from the NW. That’s going to be a big, messy, blown-out wall of water – if you’re a kitesurfer, this might be your jam, but for paddle surfing, it’s a write-off. It’s way too big for beginners, and the cross-onshore wind will make it a washing machine.
Honestly, this is a tough run. The forecasts might change, but for now, I’d save the wax and find something else to do. The surf just isn't here.
Rusty.
