Alright, let's have a look what's cooking for Trigg Point over the next few weeks.
The early part of the period is a bit of a mixed bag, but there's some proper sessions lining up if you're willing to be picky. The water is sitting right around average for this time of year, so no drama there.
We kick off on the morning of Thursday, July 9th. Trigg Point is seeing a solid 7ft groundswell from the WSW, with a very long 15 second period. The combined energy is a solid moderate (1974). It's got a crisp cross-offshore breeze from the NNE, making for clean lines. This is solid, punchy stuff though – over 5ft, so it's not for learners. This is proper experienced surfer territory.
Friday the 10th still has some juice, with a 5ft WSW swell dropping off a touch, but the period is still a long 13 seconds. The morning looks the go again with a light cross-offshore from the SSE (732 combined energy, moderate).
Saturday morning the 11th is a bit smaller, 4ft from the WSW, but clean with a light offshore from the SE. It's a fun, manageably sized option for the weekend crew. Energy is moderate (453).
Sunday the 12th is a cracker of a morning session. The swell bumps up to 6ft from the WSW, period holds at 14 seconds, and the wind goes glassy offshore from the ESE. The wave energy is strong (1314). It's going to be clean, lined up, and powerful. That's your standout morning for the first week.
Now, here's the real highlight of the entire outlook: Monday morning, July 13th. We've got a beautiful 6ft groundswell from the WSW with a very long 17 second period. The energy is strong (1913) and the wind is light offshore from the east. This is a point break, so that long-period, straight-running swell will wrap in perfectly, holding its shape. This is the kind of morning that gets you out of bed before dawn. Just be aware, with the point handling that long-period energy so well and it being a good call for experienced surfers, the crowds are likely to be there.
Tuesday the 14th keeps the quality rolling. Morning has a 6ft WSW swell, 15 second period, with a moderate offshore from the ENE keeping it clean (strong energy, 1537). The afternoon looks just as clean with a cross-offshore breeze.
We hit a bit of a lull in quality from Wednesday the 15th through the rest of that week. Winds get messy, turning cross-shore and onshore. While there's still swell, it's not the clean, lined-up stuff we had earlier.
The following weekend gets interesting again, but it's for the brave. Sunday morning, July 19th, a massive 13ft groundswell hits from the WSW with a very long 16 second period. The energy is very strong (8461). While the wind is a clean cross-off from the ESE, this is huge, powerful, and only for the most experienced chargers out there. At this size, with that period at a beach break, it might be breaking too straight, so watch where you sit.
The start of the next week looks alright again. Monday morning, July 20th, has an 8ft WSW swell with a gentle offshore from the east, making for a clean, powerful session (strong energy, 1974). That's another solid experts-only window due to the size.
The period wraps up with a bit of a fade. The last proper call is Friday morning, July 24th. The swell drops right off to a tiny 2ft, but the period is a ridiculously long 19 seconds from the WSW. The wind is dead off from the east, and combined energy is moderate (590). It'll be clean, glassy, but small and slow. A log or a mal might get you into the few runners that show.
The standout without a doubt is Monday July 13th and Sunday July 12th mornings. If you can only paddle out once, make it one of those.
