The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here with the lowdown on Trigg Point. It’s a point break that’s fairly consistent, loves a SW swell, and you’ll usually have company. Water’s a bit colder than usual—64°F with a 3°F anomaly—so a 4/3 is your friend.
Saturday the 18th is a bomb. 13ft WSW swell, 12-second period, 30 km/h onshore wind. Energy’s 4251, but it’s blown out. Don’t bother.
Sunday the 19th morning is the first real deal. Glassy, 5 km/h SW wind, swell drops to 8ft from the WSW, 14 seconds. That’s over 8ft, so experts only. Clean, powerful, 2437 energy. A proper standout.
Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st are small and cross-shore—nothing to write home about. Wednesday the 22nd morning: gentle offshore E wind at 15 km/h, 5ft WSW, 13 seconds, 772 energy. Clean and fun.
Then the big one hits Sunday the 26th. Morning glassy offshore from the E at 5 km/h, 5ft WSW but a very long 18-second period. 1642 energy, clean, and the point will handle it beautifully. Not for beginners (over 5ft), but experienced surfers will score. That afternoon: 7ft, 17 seconds, 2349 energy, still clean. Monday the 27th morning: 6ft, 16 seconds, offshore ENE 20 km/h, 1379 energy. Two days of top-notch groundswell.
After that, the 30th gets a 8ft swell but cross-on wind ruins it. The 31st morning has 5ft, 15 seconds, cross-off SSE wind, 1167 energy—clean but short-lived. August 1st morning goes glassy with 4ft, 16 seconds, 827 energy. August 2nd morning: gentle offshore ENE wind, 4ft, 13 seconds, 560 energy. Small, clean, fun for a log.
The standout windows are Sunday 19th morning and the Sunday 26th to Monday 27th stretch. That’s where the juice is. There’s a few flat days in between, but when it’s on, it’s on. Stay patient.
Rusty out.
