Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tortuguero over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's talk Tortuguero.
We've got a solid window of surf coming in, starting Saturday morning. The ocean is pumping a moderate but punchy energy from the NE, with waves around 6ft. It's a bit cloudy and the wind is light cross-off, keeping things clean. A solid start for a beginner-friendly spot. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there.
Sunday really steps it up. The swell jumps to 8ft from the ENE, with a period of 11 seconds, giving it some real power. This is excellent surf for experienced surfers. The wind is light cross-off in the morning, so it'll be clean. This is the standout of the first week—big, powerful, and clean. Might be a bit much for beginners, though.
Monday holds strong with 7ft waves and clean conditions. The wind is light cross-off in the morning, then goes glassy in the afternoon. Good energy. Tuesday starts off glassy too, with 6ft waves, so the mornings are your best bet.
Things get a little more marginal from Wednesday afternoon through the end of the week, with the wind turning cross-on a bit. The swell drops a touch, but we are still looking at 6ft to 7ft. The morning of Friday the 17th is a sneaky good one though—8ft and glassy conditions. That's a gift for the crew that can get out there.
The weekend of the 19th and 20th keeps the pattern going. Sunday morning the 19th is glassy with 7ft waves, and Monday the 20th is also glassy with 6ft. The mornings are the key.
After that, we see a slow fade. The swell drops to 5ft by Thursday the 23rd, and then we're down to 4ft by the weekend of the 25th. The energy drops off significantly. Still some waves, but it's a pretty ordinary run to finish the 16 days.
The real standout is Sunday the 12th. Big, powerful ENE swell, clean with light cross-off wind, and that energy is the highest we see. The second best is the glassy Friday morning on the 17th. Both are for the experienced crew.
Rusty out.
