Table - best surf conditions forecast for Spanish Point over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down, the Spanish Point picture.
We’re staring down a pretty quiet start. Spanish Point, a reef and point break, needs a decent west swell to fire, and for the better part of a week and a half, it’s just not there. The water is about 61°, which is standard for this time of year.
From the 11th through the 18th of July, it’s basically flat. Tiny waves, mostly under 2 feet, with very low energy. A little bump hits on the 19th and 20th with some waist-high waves around 4 feet, but with a short, bumpy 6-second period. That’s just messy, choppy conditions on Sunday the 19th – not worth the paddle.
By Monday the 20th afternoon, things perk up. We get a 5-foot swell from the WNW with a 7-second period and the energy reading jumps to 254 – that’s got some push. The wind is a clean cross-off from the NE, so the shape should be good. That’s a solid pick for the experienced surfer, as it’s a bit much for beginners.
Tuesday the 21st morning is your true standout. A solid 5 feet from the WNW again, but the period stretches to 8 seconds and the combined energy hits 306 – that’s proper power for the point. The wind is a glassy cross-off from the NNE. This is the best session on the table for an advanced surfer who knows the reef.
After that, it gets choppy again through the rest of the week. Then, on the 26th of July, we see another spike – 6 feet from the WNW with an 8-second period and a massive 404 energy reading. That’s strong, heavy swell. It’s a Sunday morning with light rain and a clean cross-off wind. That size makes it expert-only at a reef point, but it’s got some serious promise if you’ve got the skill. Mark that one as a hopeful call, just over a week out.
So, a long quiet spell, then a couple of promising mornings for the pros. Circle the 21st and the 26th.
Rusty.
