Alright, this is Rusty. Let me break down what’s cooking at Spanish Point.
Looking at the full sixteen days, it’s a tough one for surfers. We’re starting off with a real dry spell of just poor, messy conditions. The only real chance to get a wave worth paddling for comes in the middle of the second week.
It all kicks off on Sunday, July 5th, with a west swell of 5ft, but the wind is howling cross-onshore at 12 to 16 mph. It’s choppy and a total write-off. That same story repeats through Monday and Tuesday – small swell, short period, and that annoying cross-onshore wind keeping everything lumpy.
By Wednesday and Thursday the 8th and 9th, the wind does ease up a bit to a light breeze, but the swell has shrunk to about 3ft. The wave energy is still low and the conditions are only 'surfable but ordinary'. Not worth getting excited about.
Friday and Saturday the 10th and 11th are a mess again, with moderate to fresh cross-onshore winds blowing out waves around 3ft.
The only real standout in this whole window comes on Tuesday, July 14th. Early that morning, the wind shifts light from the NNE, giving us clean, glassy conditions. The swell is only 3ft from the west, but the period jumps to 10 seconds, giving it a bit more grunt. The combined wave energy hits 135, which is moderate, but with that clean surface, this is the best you are going to get. It won't be epic, but you can find a few lines.
After that, Wednesday the 15th has a little offshore wind, but the swell is already dropping to 2ft. From Thursday the 16th onward, it’s a slow fade to nothing. Swells drop below 2ft, periods get shorter, and the energy is almost zero. There is a glassy morning on the 16th, but with a 2ft swell, you are just floating around.
So, to put it straight: Spanish Point is looking pretty flat and blown out for most of this forecast. If you have to surf, set your alarm for the early morning of Tuesday July 14th. That’s your one window. Otherwise, save your energy.
