Praia do Cabedelo Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin' for Praia do Cabedelo over the next 16 days. I gotta be straight with you, it’s a pretty bleak run for the most part. We’ve got a big stretch of nothing good to start, so don’t rush to wax your board just yet.

Right off the bat, from Wednesday the 5th of August all the way through to Tuesday the 11th, it’s a total write-off. The swell is tiny, the wind is all over the shop, and the wave comment just says “poor surf conditions” every time. You’re looking at a week of flat, choppy crap. The combined energy is weak, mostly under 200 (like 177 on Wednesday morning), which is barely a ripple. Don't bother.

We finally get a little glimmer of hope on Wednesday the 12th of August. The morning session is the only thing worth even mentioning. The wind goes glassy – that’s a big deal – and we’ve got a little 3ft swell coming from the W with a 9-second period. The combined energy bumps up to 196 (moderate), and the water is sitting at 66°, which is about average for this time of year, no surprises there. It’s a beginner-friendly wave, but it’s only “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” It’s not a standout, just the best of a bad bunch. The afternoon gets wrecked by a moderate cross-shore, so get your session in early.

After that, it’s back to the doldrums. Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th are a mess of strong cross-winds up to 22 mph, with a big but messy 8ft swell on Friday afternoon. That’s a lot of juice (623 combined energy), but with that wind, it’s a lumpy, blown-out mess. Only for the truly keen, and even then, it’s not worth it.

We do get a couple of clean windows later on. Monday the 17th of August morning has light rain and a clean cross-off breeze with a 4ft swell from the NW, and the afternoon goes glassy again. Same mediocre 4ft swell, but glassy is glassy. The combined energy is still low (128 and 194). Then Tuesday the 18th morning has a bigger 6ft swell from the NNW with a 9-second period and a gentle cross-shore, pushing combined energy up to 634 (strong), but it’s described as “marginal.” The wind is okay, but the quality is suspect.

The only real standout, if you can call it that, is the glassy morning on Wednesday the 12th of August. That’s your best bet for a clean, user-friendly wave, even if it’s small. For the rest of it, hold tight. The forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a lean patch.
