The Lowdown

Right then, folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next couple of weeks for Plemont are about as flat and sad as a beached jellyfish. There’s simply nothing worth paddling out for until Friday the 7th of August. That’s a long, quiet gap where the ocean is just taking a nap, so don't rush to grab your board.

The First Real Hope

Things get interesting on Friday morning, the 7th of August. We’ve got a solid 6ft swell pushing in from the NE, and the combined energy is a moderate 200 – enough to wake the place up. The wind is blowing clean, cross-offshore from the SW at 15 mph, which is a huge plus. It’ll be clean, but with a 6-second period, this is short-period windswell, not a classic groundswell. It’ll be a bit lumpy and won’t have that long, drawn-out wall. For a more experienced crew, the afternoon sees the swell jump to 8ft from the NE, with energy hitting 389, but the wind swings to a cross-shore W at 12 mph, making it choppier. That 8ft is getting into expert-only territory, especially at a beach break like Plemont where it’ll be a bit of a washing machine. Honestly, the morning session on Friday 7th is your best bet, but it’s a one-day wonder. The water is a warm 67°F, which is 4°F warmer than usual – a nice surprise for the time of year, but it’s the only surprise you’ll get.

The Late Window

After that Friday burst, we’re back to knee-high dribble and poor conditions for the rest of the forecast. The only other moment that’s worth a mention is Monday morning, the 10th of August. It’s tiny, only 2ft from the NE, but we’ve got glassy conditions with zero wind. It’s perfect for a longboard or a funboard if you’re desperate for a glide, but there’s barely any energy (13) and a ridiculously short 4-second period. It’s a nothing swell, really.

Bottom Line

One decent, clean-ish morning on the 7th of August, and then a whole lot of nothing. Don’t kid yourself into thinking there’s more. Stay patient.

Rusty.
