Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s going on at Non Nuoc over the next couple of weeks. Honestly, it’s a slow start and a whole lot of waiting.
Right now, through the first few days, there’s barely a ripple. Monday and Tuesday are flat, with tiny 0.2m slop and no energy to speak of – the combined swell energy is only 6, which is about as weak as it gets. Winds are offshore or cross-off, but there’s just nothing to ride. Wednesday the 8th is even smaller. Total flat spell.
Thursday the 9th sees a pulse of long-period 21-second groundswell from the NE, but the swell height is still only 0.1m to 0.2m and the energy bumps up to 41 – still way too small. The wind swings onshore, so not a thing worth paddling for.
Now, things start to get interesting from Friday the 10th. The morning has 0.4m ENE swell with 18-second period, and combined energy hits 139 – moderate, finally some grunt. Offshore wind from the WSW makes it clean. It’s still small, but surfable. Then Friday afternoon gets better: 0.5m ENE groundswell, 18 seconds, and a combined energy of 218. With near-calm cross-off wind, the waves will be clean and have a bit of push. This is the first real bright spot, but it’s still small beginner-friendly stuff.
Saturday the 11th is the standout window. Morning sees 0.8m ENE swell with 18 seconds, and a combined energy of 581 – that’s strong wave energy for the sandbar. Winds are offshore from the SW at 25 km/h, keeping it clean. The 0.8m might not sound huge, but with that long period and solid energy, there’ll be proper-shaped lines. By afternoon the swell bumps to 1.1m, 17-second period, and the energy climbs to 767 – very strong. The offshore breeze picks up to 35 km/h, which is fresh but still offshore, so it stays clean. For more experienced surfers, that 1.1m with strong energy could offer punchy, rippable walls. Crowds can be a thing here sometimes, so you might not be alone, but the quality should be worth it.
Sunday the 12th drops off. Morning has 0.8m ENE swell with 15-second period, energy at 290 – moderate. Offshore wind, still okay. But the afternoon fades fast to 0.5m and the wind is strong fresh offshore. Not great.
From Monday the 13th onward, it’s back to tiny, poor surf. The rest of the week and into the second week (through to July 21st) sees nothing over 0.4m, with periods dropping to 5-6 seconds, and combined energy mostly under 20. Winds are often offshore or glassy, but there’s no swell to work with. A few moments of glassy conditions on the 14th afternoon and 17th afternoon, but still flat. The second week is a dead loss for surf.
So bottom line: the best bet is Saturday the 11th, especially the afternoon with 1.1m offshore-groundswell. That’s your window for clean, decently energetic waves at Non Nuoc. The rest of the 16 days is either flat or very marginal. Don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
