Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's call it like it is – the next two weeks are mostly a flat, slow grind. The only real window of opportunity comes from a solid groundswell lining up for the weekend of July 11th and 12th. That's your target.
The first chunk of the forecast is a dead loss. From Sunday the 5th through Thursday morning the 9th, there is simply no swell. We're talking four or five days of flat, unrideable conditions.
Things start to whisper to life on Thursday afternoon the 9th with glassy conditions, but it's only a 0.7ft swell. Friday the 10th is a touch better, with a 1ft east-northeast swell and glassy in the afternoon, but the wave energy is still weak. Barely worth a mention.
The big standout is Saturday July 11th. A proper east-northeast groundswell kicks in. The morning brings a 2ft swell with a 17-second period and clean offshore wind from the west-southwest. The combined energy hits moderate territory. By the afternoon, it builds to a 3ft swell from the same direction, still with that clean offshore breeze, and the energy really stacks up. This is your session. The water sits at 87°F – right about average for this time of year. The long period (17 seconds) means better shape, but at a beach/jetty spot like Nam O Point, the sets might race through a bit. For a beginner-friendly break, 3ft is a fun, manageable size.
Sunday the 12th is the back-up day. Morning offers a 3ft easterly groundswell, clean, with strong energy. The afternoon drops to 2ft and a slightly shorter period, still surfable but weaker. Expect to see some company, as crowds here can pop up *sometimes*.
From Monday the 13th all the way through the end of this 16-day window, it's back to tiny waves, mostly cross-onshore winds, and barely enough energy to knock a hat off. Glassy mornings pop up here and there, but nothing rideable.
Bottom line: mark your calendar for the 11th and 12th. That's your only real chance.
Rusty.
