The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let me tell you what’s going on.
Honestly, the next two weeks are a tough watch for Marmari (Mani). There’s a massive dry spell with nothing worth getting wet for. The first real chance of anything decent doesn’t roll around until Saturday the 29th of August, and even then, it’s not perfect.
Right now, from this Wednesday morning all the way through the end of next week, it’s flat or near-flat, with poor surf conditions. There’s a little bump on Saturday the 22nd of August – a weak 4ft swell from the WNW with a short period of 6 seconds and combined energy of 74 – but the wind is a messy cross-onshore, making it choppy and ugly. Not worth it.
The only real standout in this whole 16-day stretch is late on Saturday the 29th of August and into Sunday the 30th. On Saturday afternoon we get a pulse of 4ft swell from the W, with a period of 5 seconds and combined energy of 73. The wind is onshore, so it’ll be a bit messy. But then Sunday the 30th of August cleans right up. The morning has a strong cross-offshore breeze at 16 mph, keeping the surface clean. Then, Sunday afternoon we get a proper offshore wind (ENE at 6 mph) with a tiny 1ft swell from the W at 6 seconds – it’s small, but that offshore wind will make it glassy and rideable for a beginner. That’s your best window.
This spot is inconsistent and only fairly exposed, so a quiet run like this is pretty normal. If you're itching to get wet, that Sunday afternoon with the offshore wind is your only real chance for a clean, fun little session.
Rusty.
