The Lowdown
G'day, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – the outlook for Parga over the next couple of weeks is pretty grim. We're looking at a long, flat stretch with barely a wave to speak of, and the few tiny bumps that show up are going to be messy. It's going to be a test of patience.
The only spot on the radar is Krioneri (Parga), a beach and reef setup that's exposed to a SSW swell. We start off on Thursday the 20th with absolutely nothing – just a tiny 0.3ft bump from the SW with a weak 5-second period and only 1 unit of energy. Glassy in the morning, but that's it. The whole weekend into the next week is a desert. Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd are dead flat, with just a weak 1ft cross-on shore chop in the afternoons. Sunday the 23rd is glassy but with a 0.7ft swell. It's not until the very end of the forecast window, on Saturday the 29th of August, that we finally see a pulse of energy – a 3ft W swell, 5-second period, with 55 units of energy and clean cross-offshore winds in the morning. That's the best we get, and it's still pretty small and weak. By Sunday the 30th, it's already dropping back to 2ft.
The water temp is about average for this time of year, nothing to write home about. The reality is, Krioneri is inconsistent at the best of times, and this run of flat, poor surf is exactly what a long stretch of calm weather looks like here. Honestly, with the tiny swell, strong afternoon winds, and the beach/reef setup, this might be more interesting for a kite session than a surf. Keep an eye on that Saturday morning the 29th, but don't hold your breath.
