Table - best surf conditions forecast for Vouliagmeni over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this outlook is a tough one. We’ve got a long, dry spell ahead for Vouliagmeni.
For the entire 16-day run from now into late July, there's just nothing doing. The forecast is a total flat spell. We’re looking at a blank run from Sunday 12 July right through to Monday 27 July with no surf worth paddling out for. The wave energy is sitting at zero (0) for nearly every session, with only a couple of tiny blips of 1ft swell showing up on Friday 17 July afternoon and again on Tuesday 21 July afternoon, but those are coming from the east and south-southwest with a period of just 2 seconds – basically wind slop, not real surf. We’re talking weak, unrideable conditions.
Now, the weather itself is gorgeous – clear skies and plenty of light to moderate offshore winds from the north and northeast, which would normally set things up perfectly. The water is sitting at 77°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year. But without any swell, that doesn’t mean a thing for us.
Vouliagmeni is an exposed south-facing break, and it can handle swell, but it’s already an inconsistent spot that rarely breaks. With no groundswell on the horizon, it’s just not happening. There’s not even a standout day to point to. The winds are clean, but the ocean is a lake.
Honestly, for this region, a blank run like this isn’t out of the ordinary – it’s a Mediterranean summer. It tends not to stay flat forever, and forecasts can change, so don’t lose hope entirely. But for now, don’t bother packing the board.
Keep an eye on the charts, and maybe go for a swim instead.
Rusty.
