The Lowdown
Alright, same story, different numbers. Gonna be a long 16 days with absolutely nothing to ride.
The only spot that ever gets a mention here is Vouliagmeni, but it’s an inconsistent little beginner’s nook that rarely fires. From Wednesday, July 29 right through to Thursday, August 13, every single session is flagged as “poor surf conditions.” The combined energy of all swells is a big fat zero (0) for the entire run, so there’s no pushing water at all.
The winds are mostly offshore and clean, which is a real shame – it’d be glassy perfection if there was any swell. Water temp is 79°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s no help when the ocean’s like a mirror. Crowds are often a problem when Vouliagmeni decides to break, but right now, it’s just a quiet, empty, dead lineup.
This is just one of those blank spells that’s more normal for this area. A few spots are fairly consistent, but when the wind’s been screaming from the north and northeast, it kills the wave-making energy. Forecasts can change, and the sea can wake up, but for now, don’t bother waxing up.
