Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a good hard look at what's on the table for our local stretch.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – this is one of those tough outlooks. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with zero surf on offer for the better part of two weeks. From now through to Sunday, 14th September, the forecast is nothing but "poor surf conditions" with absolutely no swell energy to speak of. That’s a solid 15-day stretch of flatness, which is a real bummer for anyone itching for a wave.
The water temp is sitting at 81°F with a 4°F anomaly, so it’s noticeably warmer than usual for this time of year – feels like a bath out there, but there’s no swell to enjoy it with. The wind’s been mostly offshore or glassy through this period, but it doesn’t matter when there’s nothing to surf.
Finally, on Monday afternoon, 14th September, there’s a tiny glimmer. A tiny pulse shows up at Vouliagmeni. We’re talking a meagre 0.3 ft swell from the SW with a period of 5 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 1 – barely a ripple. The wind is moderate offshore from the N at 16 mph, so it’d be clean, but with that kind of size and period, you’d be hard-pressed to even get a ride. This spot is inconsistent at the best of times, and it’s a beginner-friendly break, but this is really only for the most dedicated soul who just wants to sit on a board.
To be honest, this whole 16-day window is a write-off for any proper surfing. If you're desperate for a paddle, you might get a tiny, clean bump on the 14th, but don't expect anything worth writing home about.
