The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta level with ya – it's a tough stretch ahead for surf in this neck of the woods. We're looking at a proper dry spell. From now, right through most of the sixteen-day window, the swell is just plain absent. We're talking days on end with no surf on offer at all.
The water's sitting at a warm 78°F, which is about average for this time of year, but without any waves, that doesn't mean much.
You'll be waiting a long time. There's a big gap with absolutely nothing rideable until we get to Sunday the 30th of August. Even then, it's barely a whisper. That morning shows a tiny 0.3ft swell out of the south, with a period of 6 seconds – that's weak, short-period windswell. The energy is pathetic, barely registering at (1). It's not going to be worth suiting up for.
The only other faint glimmer is on Thursday the 3rd of September. Again, we're looking at a tiny 0.7ft swell, this time out of the south-southwest, with a period of 4 seconds. Energy is still rock bottom at (2) in the morning, bumping up to a whole (3) by the afternoon.
Honestly, the only break we've got to even talk about is Vouliagmeni. It's rated for beginners, but it's inconsistent and rarely breaks as it is. With this sort of flat spell, the setup is gonna be more interesting for a bit of a paddle on a board than any actual wave riding.
So the call is simple: nothing happening for weeks, and then only the tiniest, weakest signals that aren't worth getting excited about. Let's hope the charts change because a blank run like this is pretty normal for this area when it goes quiet. Keep the board waxed and the eyes on the horizon.
