The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight about the next couple of weeks. The charts are pretty barren, so we’re looking at a long flat spell ahead. The first proper recommendation doesn’t even pop up until Sunday the 13th of September, meaning we’ve got a solid eight days of nothing to start with. It’s going to be a wait.
The only game in town for this whole outlook is Vouliagmeni. It’s a beginner-friendly spot, but it’s inconsistent and can get crowded often. Still, it’s the only option we’ve got. The water temp is sitting at 80° here, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s a nice surprise.
That Sunday the 13th of September afternoon, we finally see a pulse. We’ve got a tiny 1.0 ft swell rolling in from the S, but the period is a short 3 seconds and the combined energy is just 1 – that’s weak stuff. The wind is cross-onshore, making it choppy, so honestly, it’s not great.
Monday the 14th looks like the best stretch. In the morning, the swell picks up a bit to 2 ft from the SSW, with a period of 4 seconds, giving us a combined energy of 25. That’s still weak energy, but the wind is cross-offshore and it’s clean. The afternoon goes glassy with a tiny 1.0 ft S swell – super clean but barely breaking. For a beginner spot, this is about as good as it gets in this window.
Tuesday the 15th gives us a 0.7 ft S swell in the morning with a strong 16 mph offshore wind, so it’s clean but tiny.
From Wednesday the 16th onward, it’s back to zero swell for the rest of the 16 days. The winds stay offshore and clean through that second week, but without any waves, it doesn’t matter much. A blank run like this is pretty normal for the area.
If I had to pick the best on offer, it’s the morning of Monday the 14th at Vouliagmeni – small but clean, and that’s as good as it gets. Don’t hold your breath for anything else.
Rusty.
