To be straight with you, the outlook for Vouliagmeni is a long, flat spell. There’s no surf worth paddling for until late in the period. The first 11 days are a total blank – Tuesday the 21st of July is the first time we see any kind of reading, and even then it’s tiny. That’s a tough run for anyone looking for a wave.
Up until the 21st, we’ve got nothing but clear skies and a whole lot of zeroes in the swell column. The water temp is sitting at 77°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only notable thing.
Vouliagmeni itself is a beginner spot, but it’s inconsistent and often crowded, so you’re not missing much. The swell that finally shows up on Tuesday morning the 21st is a tiny 0.7ft from the south with a short period of 4 seconds, and the combined energy is a weak 1. That’s barely a ripple. We get a little more of the same on Wednesday the 22nd with a combined energy of 2, but still nothing that’s going to get you excited. The winds are glassy and offshore for those small windows, which would make it clean, but there’s just no power behind it.
The whole 16-day window is a write-off for surf. For a spot like this, a blank run is pretty normal. It tends not to stay poor forever, but this time around, you’re better off waiting for the next forecast.
