The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a proper paddle, especially for this stretch of coast. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing on the horizon, so temper those expectations.
The outlook starts with a real dead zone. From Thursday the 13th right through to Tuesday the 19th, there’s basically nothing. The swell charts are flat, and the energy is a big fat zero. You'll be staring at a lake. The winds are mostly offshore or cross-offshore, and it’ll be clean, but with no swell, it's just a pretty, flat ocean. On the 17th and 18th we get some glassy conditions too, which is a cruel tease. You’ll see a few calm, beautiful mornings with absolutely nothing to ride.
There is the faintest blip on Wednesday the 19th morning. Vouliagmeni picks up a tiny pulse of swell from the south at 0.7ft with a period of just 4 seconds. That’s basically nothing, a weak whisper of energy (1). The wind is light and cross-offshore so it might be clean, but with that size and period, it's not worth getting wet for. It’s also looking at an inconsistent break, so you could sit out there forever for a dribble.
After that, it's back to the flat spell. From the 20th right through to the 28th, the forecast is a total blank. No swell, no energy, no waves. The winds are mostly light and variable, with a few mornings of clean, offshore breezes, but it's all for nothing. There are some glassy mornings on the 20th and 27th which will be lovely for a swim, but that’s it. This is a classic summertime flat spell for this area. This spot is inconsistent at the best of times, and when it’s like this, you just have to accept it. It won’t stay this flat forever, forecasts can change, but as it stands, there is not one decent surf option in this entire 16-day window. You’d be better off finding a pool or a kite. For us surfers, this is a time to rest up and wait.
