The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the outlook for Vouliagmeni.
To be straight with you, the next 16 days are a real struggle. There’s nothing to get excited about for the foreseeable future. The first week is a total write-off, with no surf to speak of from the start of the period right through until the 14th of September. That’s a solid stretch of flat days with nothing to offer.
The only break we’ve got is Vouliagmeni, which is a beginner spot, but it’s inconsistent and rarely breaks. The water is sitting at 80°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so that’s at least a nice thing for a swim.
We finally see a tiny pulse of swell on the 14th of September, Monday morning. It’s a weak, short-period south swell, only 0.7ft at 4 seconds, with a combined energy of just 1. That’s barely a ripple. The wind is a light cross-shore, but the surf conditions are described as poor, and the score is zero. That’s not worth paddling out for.
The rest of the second week is more of the same. There’s a tiny bump on the 17th of September (Thursday morning), with a 1.0ft south swell, period still a pathetic 4 seconds, and combined energy of 3. The wind is a gentle cross-onshore, so it’s choppy. You’d be better off with a kiteboard if you’re desperate. Conditions remain poor.
After that, it’s back to nothing. On the 21st of September (Monday morning), we get a glassy morning with no swell, and the 22nd of September has a tiny 1ft south swell, but with a strong onshore wind of 19 mph, making it a mess. The combined energy is still just 3.
Honestly, there’s no standout session here. The best you could hope for is a very longboard and a prayer on the 14th or 17th, but even then, it’s barely surfable. The whole 16-day window is a flat spell for this area, and that’s pretty normal for the location. Forecasts can change, but right now, I’d leave the boards at home.
Rusty.
