The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the next 16 days are about as flat as a millpond around here. There’s a big fat gap from today, the 21st of July, all the way through to the morning of the 28th of July with absolutely nothing to ride. If you’re itching for a paddle, you’re looking at a long dry spell.

The only spot on the radar is Vouliagmeni. It’s an inconsistent, beginner-friendly setup that’s exposed to the south. The water temp is sitting at 80°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – feels like a bath out there.

The first whiff of action comes on the morning of Thursday, 23rd July. We’ll see a tiny 0.7ft swell from the SSW with a period of 5 seconds. The combined energy is barely a whisper at (2). The wind will be light offshore from the NNE at 15 mph, so the surface will be clean. But honestly, with that height and short period, it’s barely a ripple. Don’t get your hopes up.

After that, it’s back to nothing until the morning of Tuesday, 28th July. That morning brings a similar 1.0ft SSW swell, period of 5 seconds, and a combined energy of (7). The wind will be a gentle offshore from the NNW at 9 mph, keeping it glassy. On the 29th of July, we get a 0.7ft pulse from the south with a period of only 3 seconds, energy at (1). The wind picks up to a fresh 19 mph offshore from the north, which will blow the surface smooth but the swell is too weak to do anything with.

The rest of the window from the 30th of July through to the 5th of August is completely flat. Strong offshore winds will blow all week, but with zero swell, it’s just a land breeze. There’s no standout session here. The only thing worth noting is that the morning of the 28th offers the best chance of a tiny, clean wave, but it’s nothing to write home about.

This is a tough one. The forecast can always change, but for now, you’re better off finding another hobby for a couple of weeks.

Rusty.
