Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a hard look at the next 16 days for Vouliagmeni.
First off, I’m gonna be straight with you – this is a tough stretch. The water is warm, right at 80°F which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, feels like bathwater. But that’s about the only thing going for us. The forecast is a blank slate for the most part.
We’re looking at a long, dry gap from today, Sunday the 19th of July, all the way through to Wednesday the 30th of July. That’s nearly two weeks of nothing. Not a single decent wave to chase. The wind is often offshore or glassy, which is a real shame because the conditions look clean, but there’s simply no swell to work with. The combined swell energy is a flat zero (0). It’s a tough pill to swallow.
The first real glimmer of hope, and I mean a tiny glimmer, shows up on Thursday morning, the 30th of July. We get a tiny pulse of swell from the South, just 0.7 ft, with a period of 4 seconds. That’s barely a ripple. The combined energy is a very weak (1). It’s not worth getting in the water for, but at least it’s something after all that nothing. The wind is clean and cross-offshore from the NNW, so if you’re desperate for a splash, you might find a knee-high dribble.
After that, it’s back to flat again right through to the end of the outlook on the 3rd of August. The wind stays offshore and clean, but with no swell, it’s just a pretty lake.
Honestly, for a spot like Vouliagmeni that’s inconsistent, a run of flat days like this is more normal than not. It’s a beginner-friendly break when it works, but it just doesn’t work often. Keep an eye on the forecasts, as things can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
