Table - best surf conditions forecast for Vouliagmeni over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you – it’s looking pretty bleak out there for a while. We have a long stretch with no real surf on the cards.
Looking at Vouliagmeni, it's an inconsistent spot at the best of times, and this forecast is a tough one. The water temp is sitting at about 77°, which feels a little warmer than usual for this time of year, about 2° above the norm.
For the first couple of weeks, it’s a flat spell. From Wednesday the 8th of July right through to Sunday the 19th, you’re looking at zero energy coming in. Wave heights are showing as dashes – that’s a big fat zero. Combined swell energy is sitting at zilch (0). There’s plenty of clean, glassy mornings in there – like Saturday the 11th afternoon with a glassy WNW 3 mph, and Sunday the 12th afternoon with a dead calm WSW 0 mph – but without any swell, it’s just a flat, pretty lake.
We finally see a tiny blip around Monday the 20th of July. The Monday morning shows a tiny 0.7 ft of swell from the south, but with a period of only 3 seconds, that’s just wind chop. Combined energy is still basically nothing (1). It’s not rideable, just a tease. After that, it’s back to flat again right through to the end of the period on Thursday the 23rd.
So honestly, there isn’t a single standout day here. The whole 16-day window is a write-off for surfing. No waves to speak of. The only consolation is the offshore and glassy conditions we get some mornings, but without a pulse of swell, it doesn’t mean a thing. For paddle surfing, you’re better off finding something else to do. If I had to call it, the setup looks more interesting for a kite or a foil on those rare days with a bit of breeze, but for a surfboard? Nothing.
Keep your eyes peeled though – forecasts can change. It tends not to stay this dead forever.
Rusty.
