The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you about what’s happening in the water. We’re looking at a pretty grim stretch ahead for the break we’ve got on the cards.
The Overall Outlook
Right now, and for the next 16 days, there’s just nothing doing. The only break we’ve got to look at is Vouliagmeni, and it’s a tough one. It’s an inconsistent beginner spot that’s exposed to the south, but we’re seeing a massive 16-day run of flat conditions. The wave energy is sitting at zero (0) across the whole period. That’s a dead ocean. The first record shows we’re already in a gap, and it just keeps going. There’s not a single recommendation for a wave in the entire forecast.
The Long Wait
From Sunday 26 July right through to Monday 10 August, it’s a solid blank. No swell, no hope. The only thing changing is the wind, and while we see some beautiful glassy mornings on the 26th and on the 7th and 8th of August, with the wind going completely calm, it doesn’t matter because there’s nothing to ride. The offshore winds we get from the 29th of July onwards are consistent and strong, keeping the water clean, but without any swell, it’s just a flat, glassy lake. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so not a factor to warm you up.
The Hard Truth
Vouliagmeni is an inconsistent spot anyway, and this flat spell is normal for the area. It’s not an exciting outlook, but forecasts can change. For now, the best advice I can give is to leave the boards at home and maybe go for a swim. Not a single wave to get excited about.
