The Lowdown
Right, Rusty here again, but this time in feet and Fahrenheit for you. Got to say, it’s a grim outlook for Vouliagmeni – a big gap of flatness that stretches out over nearly two weeks.
From Saturday the 1st all the way through to Tuesday the 12th of August, there’s nothing. Zero wave energy (0). The mornings are clean, some strong offshore breezes, and even a few glassy afternoons, but with no swell on the cards, it’s just a calm, flat sea. The water temp is 80°F, which is a good 4°F above the normal for this time of year, so it’s much warmer than usual.
Then, on the afternoon of Tuesday the 11th of August, we get a tiny pulse: a 0.7ft swell from the east, with a period of just 3 seconds. That’s a combined energy of 1 – basically zero. The wind is cross-offshore, but it’s still poor surf. Not a single wave worth chasing.
