The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here again, and I’ll tell ya – it’s a tough outlook. For Vouliagmeni, we’re staring down a long stretch of flat water. For the next week and a half, the ocean’s just not cooperating. Plenty of clean skies and offshore breezes that’d be perfect if there was any swell, but there isn’t.
The first tiny sign of life shows up on the morning of Monday, August 31st. We’re talking a measly 0.3ft southerly bump with a period of only 5 seconds – that’s windswell trash, not real waves. The combined energy is basically nothing at 1. It’s there, but barely worth mentioning.
Then another little blip on Thursday morning, September 3rd – again 0.7ft from the south, period 4 seconds, energy at 2. Still nothing to get out of bed for.
The rest of the run is all zeros and dashes. No surf. The water temp is 80°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year, but that’s about all that stands out. Crowds can be a thing at Vouliagmeni, but with no waves, it’s a ghost town.
This is a beginner-friendly spot, but with no swell, it’s a no-go. Forecasts can change, and it won’t stay this flat forever, but right now, there’s nothing to ride.
