Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – it’s looking like a real quiet stretch ahead for the Vouliagmeni area. The whole 16-day window is basically a flat spell, so we’re talking about a long gap with no real surf on offer from 31 July all the way through to 15 August.
The only spot in the game is Vouliagmeni itself, but it’s an inconsistent, exposed beginner-friendly break that’s often crowded, and it’s just not getting any love from the ocean. The combined energy of any swell aimed here is a flat zero (0), so there’s nothing to work with. The wind is often offshore or glassy, especially on the mornings of 3 August, 4 August, and 5 August when it goes glassy, but without any swell height, period, or direction to speak of, it’s all just clean, flat water. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so no surprises there.
If you’re a kite surfer, the strong, consistent offshore winds on many afternoons – like 25 mph on 31 July afternoon or 28 mph on 1 August afternoon – might get you interested, but for paddle surfing, this is a total bust. Keep your board waxed and your eyes on the forecast, because it tends not to stay this dead for long. But for now, it’s a hard pass.
