Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s happening for Vouliagmeni over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a tough one. We’ve got a long dry spell ahead. From now right through to the morning of Friday, 21 August, there is literally no rideable surf on offer. That’s a solid 12-day gap with nothing but flat conditions. The water temperature is sitting at 78°, which is about 1° warmer than usual for this time of year – nothing too wild, just comfortably warm.
The first and only real chance of a wave shows up on the morning of Friday, 21 August. Vouliagmeni will see a tiny 0.7ft southerly swell creeping in, with a period of just 4 seconds, so it’s short-period, weak energy (combined energy of all swells directed here is just 1). That’s not going to give you much push. The wind will be light offshore from the NNW, so conditions will be clean, but with that amount of swell, it’s really only just a ripple. For a beginner spot that’s already inconsistent, this is less of a surf and more of a float. By the afternoon, it’s gone again.
There’s no standout in this window. The only highlight is that the offshore breeze on that Friday morning will make the water look nice, but don’t expect to get wet with any real waves. For anyone desperate, that’s your one brief chance. After that, it’s back to flat.
