Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let me put it in feet and miles per hour. I’ve looked over the next 16 days for Les Conches, and honestly, there’s nothing that’s worth getting wet for. The whole run is a flat spell with barely any juice, and the wind’s just not cooperating. It’s a classic blank stretch for this beginner-friendly spot – the kind of quiet that’s pretty normal here when the swell machine goes silent.
The water’s a touch warmer than average for this time of year – about 69°F – so that’s a small comfort if you’re just floating around, but the waves are tiny. We’re talking 1ft to 3ft at best, and most of the time it’s under 2ft. The swell energy is weak (14–170), with the highest reading on Friday 17 July morning (170) still only giving 3ft swell from the west, but the wind is chopping it up – cross‑onshore and moderate to fresh. The period is short, around 5–7 seconds, so no real power.
The only moment that even sniffs at surfable is Thursday 9 July morning: 2ft from the west, 10 seconds, and a light cross‑offshore breeze that cleans it up a bit. But even then the wave comment says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions” – that’s the best it gets, and it’s still barely a knee‑high dribble. The rest of the two weeks is a mix of onshore, cross‑onshore, or glassy but with no swell. Saturday 12 July afternoon goes glassy with 1ft – pretty as a pond, but you’d need a miracle to catch a wave. Sunday 18 July morning also glassy with 2ft, but again, no energy.
If you’re a beginner, there’s just nothing to learn on. The break is inconsistent in the forecast, and the offshore winds are rare. I’d say leave the board in the car park and go for a walk instead. The forecasts can always change, but right now, it’s a total washout.
