Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Petit Minou over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. The first thing you need to know is that the 16-day window out of Le Petit Minou is a total bust. There’s simply nothing worth paddling out for. Zero. Zilch. The first surf recommendation doesn’t even appear until the very end of the run, and even then it’s not a realistic option. The whole forecast is a long, frustrating gap of flat or junk waves.
From 13 July right through to 26 July, we’re looking at a solid two-week stretch of tiny, weak, or messy surf. Heights barely creep above 1ft most days, the swell is short-period and gutless, and the combined wave energy sits in the low double digits for most of it – just a sad 27 on the 13th morning, 16 on the 14th, 45 on the 15th. It’s not even worth a look. The wind is often offshore or cross-off, which would be great if there was any swell, but there isn’t. The water is a warm 66°F on the 13th morning, which is 4°F warmer than usual for July – that’s notably warm, but it’s wasted on flat calm water.
There’s no standout here, no hidden gem to get excited about. The only time things change is on 27 July, when a surge of big swell arrives. The morning of the 27th pumps 8ft from the west at 8 seconds, and the afternoon bumps to 8ft from the WNW, with combined energy hitting 746 and 871 – moderate to strong. But the wind is onshore and howling at 22 mph, making it a raw mess. The 28th of July is the real kicker: 10ft from the WNW with a period of 11 to 12 seconds, and energy readings of 2458 and 2360 – that’s very strong wave energy. The wind is cross-on at 12 mph, which is at least manageable, but 10ft is for experts only. It’s too big, and the beach-and-point setup here will be a roiling, powerful beast. The report even says it’s too big for this break. This is a kite-surfing day, not a paddle-surfing day.
So, the honest truth? There’s nothing for a surfer in this 16-day window. The entire period is a write-off. The only pulse of energy is massive and messy, and it’s not a safe or fun option. The water is warm, but that’s the only silver lining. Forecasts can change, but right now, I’d leave the boards home.
