Alright, boys and girls, Rusty here, turning this into feet for you. Same story at Le Petit Minou – a waiting game for the real moments.
Friday the 3rd of July is the early call. Morning has a clean 5ft swell out of the WNW with a solid 10-second interval, pumping out 490 units of energy. The water is a warm 65°F, which is much toastier than usual for this time of year – leave the steamer at home. The wind is a light cross-off from the NNE, keeping things tidy. That’s your best bet in the first few days.
That Friday afternoon turns to junk as the wind howls from the NNW. Saturday the 4th morning sees a smaller 4ft swell, clean enough but unexciting. Sunday the 5th is basically a flat spell, with only a 2ft swell. Monday the 6th morning goes glassy with a 3ft swell, but at a short 8-second period, it’s weak with only 110 units – a real mess-around wave.
The next gem is on Friday the 10th of July, afternoon session. The swell is a modest 3ft from the WNW, but the period stretches to 12 seconds – that’s proper groundswell with 247 units. The wind goes light offshore from the NNE, so you’ll get clean, lined-up walls.
Then, hold onto your leash for Sunday the 13th of July. Morning brings a jump to 4ft from the WNW with a 12-second period, and 520 units of energy. The wind is cross-off from the NW, so it stays clean. That afternoon, it pumps to a solid 8ft from the WNW with a massive 1526 units of energy, but the wind goes cross-shore and it’s marked as marginal. That’s a heavy, expert-only wave with serious power. Monday the 14th is still around 5ft, but the cross-shore wind kills the quality. After that, it’s all smaller, wind-blown leftovers.
The standout windows are Friday the 3rd morning (5ft, WNW, clean) and that specific Friday the 10th afternoon (3ft, 12-second, glassy). Sunday the 13th has the size, but you need big-wave skills and a forgiving tide. Be smart.
Rusty.
