The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what's on the menu for Hossegor - La Sud.
Honestly, we're looking at a long, flat spell to kick things off. From Tuesday the 14th right through until Saturday the 25th of July, the surf is all but dead. Tiny, weak waves with a lot of onshore wind – you're looking at heights under 3 feet, and the energy is just not there. It’s a big gap of nothing.
Things finally start to change around Sunday the 26th. A proper groundswell fills in, with a 4-foot NW swell and a 12-second period, pumping the combined energy up to 425. It’s a bit side-onshore, but it’s a real wave.
The standout session comes on Wednesday the 29th of July. We’ve got a clean 5-foot NW swell, with a 10-second period and a combined energy of 396. The wind goes dead calm, glassy as a mirror. That’s your window. The water is sitting at about 75°, which is much warmer than usual, so no need for a thick suit.
This is the one to chase. It’s not a giant, but it’s clean, it’s got some push, and the conditions will be perfect. The rest of the week gets a bit choppy in the afternoons, so get out early.
Rusty.
