Alright, Rusty here. Let's talk about what's coming up for the Hossegor - La Sud area. We've got a solid run of surf here, especially in the first week, so let's dive straight in.

We start off strong. Saturday morning, August 29th is looking like a proper standout. You’ve got a clean 7 ft swell from the WNW with moderate energy (736), wind is a light ESE offshore, keeping things clean. For a beginner-friendly spot like La Sud, that’s about as good as it gets. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so nothing wild there, just classic late-summer conditions.

Sunday the 30th keeps the momentum – another clean morning with a 6 ft WNW swell, glassy conditions and moderate energy (600). The swell period is 10 seconds, so there’s some reasonable shape there. Monday morning the 31st is also clean, glassy, with a 5 ft swell (450 energy), but the swell is slightly smaller.

Tuesday morning (September 1st) offers one more glassy, clean session with 5 ft swell (411 energy), but after that, the surf drops off noticeably. From Wednesday the 2nd through to the start of the second week, we’re looking at small, weak waves – mostly under 3 ft, and often with poor winds in the afternoons. There’s a real gap there where it’s just not worth paddling out.

Then we get a bit of a spark again on Saturday, September 5th – a clean morning with a 4 ft NW swell (279 energy) and a light offshore easterly. It’s not huge but it’s clean and rideable. Sunday the 6th is similar: a clean morning, 4 ft NW swell (384 energy) with a light offshore, though the period stretches to 11 seconds which can start to feel a bit straight at a beach break like this.

The real highlight of the whole outlook, though, is further out. On Wednesday, September 9th we get a morning that stands tall: 6 ft of clean NW swell, 11-second period, strong energy (828), and a light ESE offshore wind. That’s a proper session to mark on the calendar. The swell direction is WNW, which lines up nicely with the optimum WSW exposure here. It’s a week and a half out, so keep an eye on it, but the potential is there for the best surf of the forecast period.

After that, the energy drops again, and the last few days look small and mostly unsurfable.

So, to sum it up: the first weekend is your best bet for consistent, clean fun waves. The real standout is that Wednesday the 9th – that’s the one to wait for. The rest of the second week is mostly a write-off.
