Right, if you’re looking at Hilton, it’s a pretty quiet stretch ahead. This is a reef/jetty setup that’s inconsistent, so it’s more of a beginner wave when it does show up. The next week and a half or so is looking like a bit of a write-off for any decent surf, with the first real chance of something barely surfable coming much later. There’s a long gap of over a week with nothing worth paddling for.
The water temp is sitting around 81°, a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you won’t need a thick suit.
From the 3rd of July right through to the 10th, the wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, with a small short-period swell (around 2 ft to 4 ft, from the WNW). The energy is low to moderate, hitting a peak of 188 (combined energy) on the morning of the 7th, but the conditions are consistently described as poor. It’s a choppy, messy picture. The 8th, 9th, and 10th mornings see a light cross-onshore breeze, but the swell is still weak and short period, so it’s not going to offer much.
The first flicker of something glassy comes on the morning of Saturday the 11th. The wind goes glassy from the WSW, and there’s a tiny 3 ft WNW swell on a 7-second period. The combined energy is a low 68, and the report says it’s surfable but very ordinary. This is the only sniff of a rideable moment in the entire outlook, and it’s marginal at best. It would be clean, but the waves will be small and weak, best for a longboard if you’re desperate.
After that, it’s back to poor conditions, with glassy mornings on the 12th and 13th but even smaller swell (2 ft to 2 ft), and then the wind turns onshore again from the 14th onward, with a bit more energy on the 14th (117 combined) but still poor surf quality.
There’s no standout period here. That Saturday the 11th morning is the only one that gets a score of 1 out of 10, which just means it’s technically surfable. The rest is a blank run. It’s one of those stretches where the conditions just aren’t lining up. Forecasts can change, but for now, I’d leave the board at home.

Information about the Hilton Surf forecast
The above surf forecast table for Hilton provides essential information for determining whether the surfing conditions will be good over the next 16 days. A general guide to surfing at Hilton can be found by selecting the local surf guide option on the grey menu. Our Hilton surf forecast is unique since it includes wave energy (power) that defines the real feel of the surf rather than just the height or the period. Very soon you may start to choose your surf days based on the wave energy alone combined with our forecast of favourable offshore wind conditions. Our star ratings will help here and of course you will also find the usual wave height and period predictions on our surf forecasts as well as a full break down of the swell components under our advanced users option (to reveal that, click the little Einstein character under the tide times).
