Table - best surf conditions forecast for Hargen over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get into it. I’m gonna be straight with you – this forecast is a tough one to love. We’re looking at the next 16 days for Hargen, a beach/breakwater setup, and honestly, there’s a big, empty gap right at the start.
The first real chance of anything gets going on Saturday the 25th of July. Before that, mate, it’s a write-off. We’re talking over a week and a half of tiny, weak, messy surf. Plenty of days with cross-shore and cross-onshore winds, and swell energy barely registering – most readings are under 100 (weak energy). Not worth paddling out for. It’s a grim stretch.
Now, Saturday the 25th of July morning is where we finally get a glimmer. Swell picks up to 4ft coming from the West, with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy jumps to 177 (moderate). The real silver lining? Offshore wind from the ESE. That’s going to clean things right up, giving us gentle offshore and clean conditions. It’s not a monster swell, but that clean face will make it surfable. The ratings suggest it’s just surfable waves but very ordinary conditions, but with that offshore wind, it’ll be your best look in this entire run. Hargen is exposed to the NNW, so that West swell will wrap in okay. Expect it to be on the smaller side, but glassy. If you’re a beginner, 4ft is manageable. For what it’s worth, this is the standout.
That afternoon on the 25th, the wind swings to the ENE, becoming a cross-offshore breeze. Still clean wave faces, but the energy holds at 173 (moderate). It’s a good afternoon session if you missed the morning.
Sunday the 26th of July morning is a drop-off. Offshore wind from the SE is still clean, but the swell drops back to 2ft with weak energy. Not much to get excited about.
So, the takeaway: The first week and a half is a total bust. Point your focus to Saturday the 25th of July morning for the cleanest, most surfable waves on offer. It’s not pumping, but given the long dry spell, it’s the one to target.
