Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fano Sassonia over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ve got to be straight with you – the outlook for Fano Sassonia over this entire 16-day stretch is pretty grim. We’ve got a run of poor surf conditions that just doesn’t let up. The forecast is basically a flat spell dressed up with a few tiny, weak waves that won’t get you excited. There are no proper standouts, and nothing worth paddling out for, really. The water temp is sitting at a balmy 81°, which is a massive 6° warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s very unusual, and it feels like a warm bath out there.
We kick off on Saturday the 11th of July with a tiny 1 ft swell from the east, a period of just a few seconds, and a cross-onshore wind that’s making it choppy. Total wave energy is a measly 2 – barely a ripple. The next morning, Sunday the 12th, it’s still tiny at 0.7 ft from the ESE, but at least the wind is light and cross-offshore, keeping the surface clean. Still, there’s nothing here to ride.
Monday the 13th morning is glassy, but it’s flat – zero energy. Afternoon brings a 0.7 ft wind bump from the ENE with a cross-on breeze, energy of 1. Tuesday the 14th is more glassy flatness in the morning, then a 1 ft cross-on chop in the afternoon. Wednesday the 15th is flat again with light cross-shore wind.
Thursday the 16th shows the biggest swell of the entire run: a 2 ft wave from the NE with a 5-second period, but it’s directly onshore and the wave energy is only 23. That’s still weak. Friday the 17th is back to 1 ft in a risk of thunderstorms and a cross-shore breeze.
The rest of the run is more of the same. Saturday the 18th, 1 ft. Sunday the 19th, flat morning. Monday the 20th, a 1 ft from the E with an 8 energy reading. Tuesday the 21st morning has a clean 1 ft from the ESE with cross-offshore wind, but it’s tiny. Wednesday the 22nd, 1 ft.
We get a few glassy mornings on the 23rd and 24th again, but they’re flat. By Saturday the 25th, the morning is glassy with a 1 ft NNE swell and energy of 7, but the afternoon gets choppy. Sunday the 26th finishes the run with a clean 1 ft morning, then a 2 ft afternoon from the NNE with a 5-second period and 24 energy – but again, cross-onshore and lumpy.
Honestly, there’s no swell here. The best you can hope for is a clean, tiny wave to mess around on a longboard, but for any real surfing, this is a write-off. The exposed beach setup just isn’t getting any love from the ocean. Maybe look into kite surfing on the windier afternoons, because for paddle surfing, it’s a dud from start to finish.
Rusty.
