Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Dee Dees has got cookin’ for us over the next couple weeks. It’s a bit of a rough start, but there’s some light at the end of the tunnel if you’re patient.

Right off the bat, this Sunday the 5th is a write-off. We’ve got a weak 4ft swell from the NNW with a short, jumbled period of just 5 seconds – combined energy is only 70 (weak) – and the wind is a messy cross-off. Not worth wettin’ a suit.

Monday the 6th sees the swell bump up to 8ft from the S, but the period is still a poor 7 seconds, and the wind is howling cross-shore at 22 mph. The combined energy climbs to 788 (moderate), but it’s lumpy and choppy. The afternoon drops to 6ft from the SSW, but again, conditions are just marginal at best.

Tuesday the 7th stays marginal. Still around 6ft from the SSW/S with a better 9-second period, and the wind is cross-off, so it’s clean. Combined energy is solid at 873 (moderate) in the morning and 865 in the afternoon. It’s surfable, but I wouldn’t call it a standout.

Wednesday the 8th is another dud. Onshore winds and a lumpy 7ft to 8ft swell from the S – just nasty.

Now, Thursday the 9th – that’s a big one, but not for us. A massive 15ft to 16ft southerly swell rolls in with a 9 to 10-second period and combined energy through the roof at 4157–4715 (very strong). But the wind is a strong cross-shore, and the forecast says the swell is predicted to be too big for this break. This is expert-only territory, and even then, it’s gonna be a washing machine. Leave it for the kamikazes.

The whole week from the 9th through the 11th is plagued by strong onshore and cross-onshore winds with solid but messy swell. Not worth a look.

We finally get a break on the 12th – Sunday. Swell has dropped to a cleaner 6ft to 7ft from the S, but the period is still short (6–7 seconds) and the wind is cross-shore. Combined energy is moderate (429–666). Still just marginal.

Here’s where things turn around. Monday the 13th is the real standout of the whole outlook. Dee Dees wakes up to a 4ft swell from the SE with a lovely long 10-second period. But the real magic is the wind – glassy, offshore from the E at just 3 mph in the morning, and light cross-off in the afternoon. Combined energy is 410 (moderate) in the morning and 531 in the afternoon. Conditions will be clean as a whistle. The water temp is about 55°, which is pretty average for this time of year. This is your window. Get out there.

Tuesday the 14th is still decent but smaller – 3ft from the ESE with a 12-second period (long period groundswell). Light cross-off winds keep it clean. Combined energy is 264 (weak). It’s surfable, but the magic of Monday is gone.

After that, it fades into tiny, weak, or windy junk until Saturday the 18th. That morning sees a 5ft swell from the SSW with a short 6-second period, but the wind is light cross-off from the NNE at just 3 mph. Combined energy is 348 (weak). Clean, but not special. The afternoon has a much nicer 14-second period groundswell at 2ft – better shape, but small.

The final weekend the 19th and 20th is a mess of strong winds and lumpy onshore slop. Avoid.

So, to sum it up: the first week and a half is mostly rough. The clear winner is Monday the 13th – glassy offshore winds, a clean 4ft SE swell with good period. That’s the one to circle. Tuesday the 14th is a decent backup, and the 18th is a distant third. Don’t waste your time on the rest.

Rusty.
