Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dee Dees over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get into it for Dee-Dees.
We're in for a bit of a mixed bag over the next couple of weeks. There are some good clean windows early on and around the one-week mark, but we've got a big, messy pulse pushing through the middle that will shut things down for a few days. The real standout doesn't show up until a bit further out.
The water temp at Dee-Dees is sitting at 55°F, which is pretty much average for this time of year.
First up, we've got a nice little run starting Saturday afternoon (July 11th) . It's not perfect, with a 3ft SSW swell arriving at 17 seconds and a bit of cross-chop, but the energy is already there at a moderate (541). You'll have to pick your moment.
The real pick of the first week is Sunday (July 12th) . Morning and afternoon are both looking clean with that offshore wind (NNE) and light conditions. The swell is a consistent 3ft from the SSW with a good period of 11-12 seconds, keeping the energy moderate. This is the one to circle for a solid session without any crowd hassle – sometimes you'll have company here, but it's worth it.
Monday (July 13th) you can pretty much sleep in. The wind cranks up from the north, and while it stays clean, the swell drops right off to a tiny 1ft. Not worth the paddle.
We then hit a proper gap. From Tuesday (July 14th) right through Friday (July 17th) morning, it's pretty much unsurfable. The mid-week gets hammered by a strong NW wind, and the swell is all short-period windswell. It's going to be choppy and messy.
The next glimmer of hope is Friday afternoon (July 17th) . That's when we get a glassy session with a tiny, very long-period 2ft groundswell from the ESE at 16 seconds and energy at a moderate (324). It's clean, but tiny.
Then the big pulse comes. Saturday (July 18th) sees a massive 12ft to 13ft SSW swell with a combined energy in the thousands (1969-3318), but it's accompanied by a fresh onshore wind. That’s a mess for paddling, and honestly, looks more like a kite-surfing day with that chop.
Sunday (July 19th) is a tricky one. The swell is still huge at 8ft from the S, dropping to 7ft later, with a solid 14-second period and very strong energy (2636-1927). The wind is better, but this is solid expert territory. For most of us, the size is just too much for Dee-Dees.
That brings us to the best on offer for the whole outlook: Monday morning (July 20th) . The wind drops to a complete glass-off, and the swell is a heavy-duty 6ft from the S with a 12-second period and strong energy (1025). This is excellent for experienced surfers – clean, powerful, and solid. If you can handle it, this is your day.
After that, we settle back into smaller, clean conditions. Tuesday morning (July 21st) through Wednesday afternoon (July 22nd) offer clean, glassy 3ft to 3ft SSW groundswell with moderate energy. Easy paddling, nice lines, but smaller.
The final few days from Thursday (July 23rd) onward are a write-off. The swell flat-lines to nothing (0.7ft-1ft), and the wind gets messy again for the weekend. We're looking at a good 4-5 day gap of no surf to close out the period.
So, to sum it up: hit Sunday the 12th for a clean, fun-sized session. If you're an experienced surfer and want a real challenge, Monday the 20th is your standout – glassy, powerful, and all yours. Keep an eye on the middle of next week for a reset.
Stay safe out there.
Rusty.
