Table - best surf conditions forecast for Dee Dees over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s break it down.
Dee Dees (reef break) has a rough start. Friday 10 July and Saturday 11 July are no good – cross-shore winds, short-period swells, and messy water. The first few days are a write-off.
Sunday 12 July is the first decent window. Morning is clean with a light cross-offshore breeze, 3ft south-southwest swell at 12 seconds (combined energy 352). Afternoon is glassy, 3ft from the south (254 combined energy). Not big, but tidy.
Monday 13 July through Friday 17 July is a long, ugly stretch. Strong winds, lumpy cross-chop, small swells. This looks more like a kite-surfing week than a paddle-surfing week.
Saturday 18 July is still marginal.
Sunday 19 July is the first real standout. Morning is clean with a light cross-offshore breeze, 3ft south-southwest swell at 14 seconds (364 combined energy). The afternoon is glassy – flat calm, 3ft south-southwest swell, 14 seconds, clean as a whistle (252 combined energy). This is the best for the whole outlook – small but perfect.
Monday 20 July morning is glassy with a 7ft south swell at 6 seconds (372 combined energy) – short period, so a bit lumpy. The afternoon jumps to 8ft south swell, clean cross-offshore wind, but combined energy 542 – might be too big for this break. Only for experienced surfers.
Tuesday 21 July is massive. 12ft south swell, 8-second period, light offshore wind, combined energy 1481 in the morning and 1958 in the afternoon. Expert-only.
Wednesday 22 July morning is the real highlight. 6ft south-southwest swell, 16-second period (very long period groundswell), light cross-offshore wind, combined energy 2033. Water temp is about 55°F, normal for this time of year. That’s powerful and clean for a reef break. The afternoon is 10ft, even bigger, but with cross-shore wind and combined energy 4476 – experts only.
Thursday 23 July drops to 4ft south-southwest swell at 12 seconds, moderate breeze, clean but marginal.
Friday 24 July morning is 3ft south swell, 10 seconds, light cross-shore, nothing special. The afternoon is glassy with 3ft south swell – clean but small.
Saturday 25 July is glassy with 3ft and 2ft south swells, but very ordinary.
The standout sessions are Sunday 19 July afternoon (glassy, clean, small but perfect) and Wednesday 22 July morning (powerful, long-period groundswell, clean for experienced surfers). The big days on 20-21 July are for experts only.
Rusty.
