Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, grab your coffee and wax, ‘cause we’re looking at Dee Dees (reef) for the next couple of weeks. Water temp is about average for this time of year – no surprises, just standard tropical conditions.
First up, the immediate days are messy. Sunday morning sees tiny 0.6 ft E swell with a nothing period of 10 seconds. It’s clean but weak, and honestly, not worth paddling for. The afternoon picks up a bit to 3 ft NNW, but it’s short-period junk around 4 seconds with a cross-chop. Monday gets ugly – morning brings a solid 10 ft SSW groundswell but the wind is howling cross-shore at 22 mph, making a total mess (combined energy is 900). The afternoon cleans up a little at 5 ft SSW, but still not great.
Tuesday the 7th is where things get serious. Morning has a thumping 10 ft ESE swell at 9 seconds with clean conditions and gentle breeze – but honestly, at 2044 combined energy, this is pushing into expert-only territory. Way too big for beginners. The afternoon at 7 ft SE is still sizable and clean, but again, demanding.
Wednesday through Friday (8th to 10th) stay in that big range: 8 ft to 12 ft S and SSW swells, mostly clean but with energy readings between 741 and 3298. This is heavy reef territory – not for the faint-hearted. The wind stays cross-off or light cross-shore, so the lines will be clean, but these are expert waves only.
Saturday the 11th drops off quickly – 7 ft S swell but with a nasty cross-onshore wind that chops it up. Sunday the 12th is a sad end to the week: 3 ft SSW with a long 16-second period, but cross-onshore wind kills it.
Now, here’s the gap – from Sunday the 12th afternoon through to around Wednesday 16th, it’s small and ordinary. Tidbits of 2 ft to 3 ft swell, short periods, and cross-onshore or light winds. Nothing to bother with. This is a quiet spell of about 4 days.
The standout kicks off Thursday the 16th. Thursday morning shows 3 ft SE swell at 12 seconds, clean with a light offshore breeze from the NE – beautiful (combined energy 419). Thursday afternoon gets even better: 3 ft SE, 12 seconds, with pure offshore wind from the NE. Clean conditions and 532 energy. That’s a proper session for intermediates.
Second highlight is Friday morning the 17th. We’ve got 4 ft SE swell at a long 15-second period, clean, with a light cross-off breeze from the NNE. Combined energy is 1112 – that’s solid groundswell. Excellent conditions for experienced surfers. The afternoon fades out with onshore wind, so make the most of the morning.
After that, Saturday the 18th blows up again with 12 ft SSW at 12-13 seconds and onshore wind – messy and massive. Sunday the 19th stays big but lumpy. The outlook closes on Monday the 20th with a mellow 5 ft S swell at 10 seconds, clean and cross-off – a nice reset.
So, don’t bother this week unless you’re an expert chasing the big stuff on the 7th through 9th. Your best bet is Thursday 16th and Friday morning 17th for clean, fun waves at Dee Dees. Crowds are possible here sometimes, but on a weekday morning you’ll score.
Stay safe,
Rusty
