Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here again, giving it to you in feet and miles per hour.
The next few days at Dee Dees are pretty much a no-go. Monday and Wednesday have strong cross-shore winds and lumpy, messy conditions with moderate wave energy (723). Tuesday afternoon has some size, about 8ft from the SSE, but it's flagged as too big for this spot – only for the hardcore, and the cross-off wind isn't doing it any favors. Thursday is even bigger, 16ft from the south with a brutal 45 mph cross-shore wind – that's a kite day, not a paddle day.
We finally get a chance on Sunday, July 12th. It's small – about 3ft from the SSW – but the morning is clean with light cross-off wind and very long period groundswell at 15 seconds. That long period means better shaped waves and easier paddling, even if it might break a bit straight at a beach break. Wave energy is low (408). Monday the 13th afternoon goes glassy with about 2ft from the south – tiny but pretty.
The pick of the whole 16 days is Sunday, July 19th. Glassy morning, 4ft from the south, 9-second period, clean as can be. The swell direction lines up perfectly with what Dee Dees likes. Wave energy is moderate (276). That's the session to aim for.
After that, the second week is mostly small and ordinary. Tuesday the 21st morning has 5ft from the NW, clean with light cross-off wind, but the period is a short 6 seconds so it'll be a bit weak and crumbly. Still rideable.
So here's the takeaway: the first week is mostly blown out or too big. The best clean surf is Sunday the 19th morning. Don't miss it.
Rusty.
