Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coffee Break over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, and I’m calling it like I see it. The next two weeks are a total write-off for surf. No sugar-coating it.
The only break in the game is Coffee Break, a reef break that usually handles swell well. But the problem is the wind. It’s blowing a steady cross-shore from the east and east-northeast, 12 to 19 mph, every single day. That’s kicking up a nasty cross-chop and lumpy surface, making a mess of the waves. The swell is coming from the east, running 4 ft to 6 ft, with a short period of 5 to 8 seconds. That’s just wind swell, no energy or shape. The combined energy is moderate, reading 198 (Saturday, July 11th) and up to 327 (Monday, July 20th), but it doesn’t matter – the wind is trashing it.
The water’s about 83°F, which is normal for this time of year, so it’s not a cold water problem. The verdict on every single day from July 11th through July 25th is "poor surf conditions." There’s one morning, July 26th, where the wind drops a bit and turns cross-offshore, making it "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." That’s the only day that even gets a second look, but it’s still nothing special.
For a spot that’s usually consistent, this is a dead period. It’s a reef, so it’s not a kite-surfing spot, but the chop would make paddling out a chore. There’s no standout day. The only hope is the forecast changes. For now, you’re better off finding something else to do.
Rusty.
