Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coffee Break over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cooking.
Honestly, I’m looking at a pretty grim picture for the whole 16-day window. There’s no standout surf on offer, no hidden gem waiting to fire. The only spot in the mix is Coffee Break, a consistent reef break that’s set up for an NNE swell, but the wind just won’t cooperate.
From Friday the 10th right through to Saturday the 25th of July, it’s a long, drawn-out run of poor surf conditions. The wind is stuck onshore or cross-shore from the east and east-northeast, blowing a steady 12 to 19 mph, which is going to trash the surface. The swell is coming from the east too, which is never the ideal direction for this place, with the odd little pulse from the north around the 15th that barely registers. The wave energy ranges from weak to moderate (95 to 291), but it’s all messy and chopped up.
The water is about average for this time of year, nothing unusual there. But with that persistent cross-shore wind and a moderate to fresh breeze, the waves are going to be lumpy and ugly. A few sessions show a period around 7 to 8 seconds, which is short-period wind swell, not the kind of groundswell that gets a reef like this really working.
There is a little bump in size around the 16th and 17th, with swell heights pushing 5 ft to 6 ft, but the wind is the same story. It’s just not worth the paddle out. If you’re desperate, you might find a few closeouts, but honestly, this setup looks more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddler. There’s a long gap here with no real recommendations. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s a bit of a normal, quiet spell.
Keep an eye on the charts, but I wouldn’t be waxing the board for Coffee Break any time soon.
