Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coffee Break over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here, and I’ve got to be straight with you – this 16-day stretch is a tough one. The only break showing any action in the guidance is Coffee Break, a reef setup that’s consistent and exposed to the NNE. But let me tell you, the day-by-day is nothing to get excited about right now.
To start with, Coffee Break is seeing water temps around 82°, which is a -0.1° anomaly – so just about average for this time of year, nothing to write home about.
The whole 16-day run is filled with easterly and east-northeasterly winds blowing at 12 to 19 mph, and it’s all cross-shore. That means lumpy, bumpy surface conditions and a cross-chop that will mess with your ride. The swell is coming from the east, with heights hanging between 3 ft and 5 ft, but the period is short – mostly 5 to 8 seconds. That’s windswell, not groundswell, so it’s weak and lacks that real punch. The combined wave energy sits in the low to moderate range for most of the period, with values like 249 and 285 early on dropping to numbers in the 80s and 90s later, which tells you it’s barely got any grunt.
Every single session – from Friday the 10th of July right through to Saturday the 25th of July – is marked as "poor surf conditions" with a score of 0. There is no standout day, no hidden gem. It’s flat to messy the whole way. The swell is small, the wind is trash, and the only break isn’t working.
To be honest, with this persistent easterly wind and short-period slop, Coffee Break isn’t offering anything for paddle surfing. If you’re a kiteboarder watching this, that consistent cross-shore breeze and small, bumpy waves might look interesting, but for the rest of us, it’s a hard pass.
This is just one of those blank runs for the area. Sometimes the forecasts shift, so don’t lose hope, but for now, save the wax and catch up on other stuff. The next 16 days are a write-off.
Rusty.
