Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cap de la Chevre over the next 16 days.
Alright, listen up. This is Rusty, and the outlook for Cap de la Chevre is a tough one. This is an expert point break that needs a good swell from the WSW, and we’re just not getting that for a while.
The next 16 days are looking real flat. The first time you might even think about paddling out is Thursday morning, July 9th. The swell is a tiny 3 feet from the WNW, with a period of 10 seconds, and the combined energy is a weak 142. The wind is a cross-off from the NE at 15 km/h, so it’ll be clean, but it’s a real small wave for this spot. It’s a “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions” kind of day.
The best of a bad bunch comes Friday morning, July 10th. We’ve got a 3 foot swell from the WNW, period 9 seconds, and energy at 162. The wind is light offshore from the E at 15 km/h, so the surface will be dead smooth. That’s your shot. After that, the swell disappears completely for over a week. From July 11th through July 19th, it’s all tiny, choppy, onshore junk. The energy readings drop into double digits, and the wind is mostly cross-on or onshore.
There’s a slight bump on Monday, July 20th, with a 4 foot swell from the north, but it’s a short-period, weak windswell, and with onshore winds from the W at 25 km/h, it’ll be a messy, lumpy mess. No good.
So, your only real window is that Friday morning, July 10th, with the glassy offshore wind and a clean little 3 foot wave. It’s not a classic, but it’s the only clean wave you’ll see. The water temp is about average for the time of year.
It’s a long, flat run for the area, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Forecasts can change.
Rusty.
