The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at the waves in Lanzarote, specifically at Barcarola - Puerto del Carmen. I've got to level with you, it's a bit of a quiet spell. We've got plenty of wind, but the ocean is just taking a nap. For the first week and a half, from Sunday the 6th right through to Monday the 14th, it's a total flat spell. The wind's blowin' offshore from the north and northeast, but with no swell to push around, it's like havin' a perfect breeze but nothin' to sail. It's a real bummer.
We finally see a few tiny pulses of energy in the second week. By Thursday the 17th morning, there's a hint of a 2ft swell from the east-northeast with a 9-second period. The combined energy is still weak at 57. The wind is strong offshore from the north at 25 mph, which will keep the surface clean but make paddling a real chore. Honestly, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddlin' a surfboard. The spot really needs a good south-west swell to fire, and we just aren't gettin' that.
The water temp is around 75°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won't freeze while you're starin' at a flat ocean.
So for the full 16-day outlook, I can't pick a standout session. There just aren't any good surf options on offer. It's one of those flat runs that happens in this area. Forecasts can change, and it never stays this poor for long, so don't toss your board out just yet, but for now, keep it in the bag.
