Table - best surf conditions forecast for Almanarre over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Almanarre.
Honestly, if you’re itching to paddle out, you’re going to need a lot of patience. This outlook is a long, flat stretch. There’s nothing worth getting excited about for the first week and a half. The water’s warm though – sitting at 76°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least a dip feels nice.
We kick off with Wednesday 8 July. Tiny swell, only 1ft from the WSW with a short 4-second period – that’s just wind chop, not real surf. Combined energy is a weak 6. The morning is glassy with a light NNE breeze, but there’s just nothing to ride. Afternoon gets a little bump at 2ft, still poor. It stays like this day after day. Thursday 9 July, Friday 10 July, Saturday 11 July – all tiny 0.3ft to 2ft junk. Some offshore winds on Friday and Saturday, but the swell is basically non-existent, combined energy barely a 1.
We go right through to Sunday 12 July and Monday 13 July with next to nothing. A few 0.3ft readings, a few glassy mornings, but no wave energy. It’s a desert. The gap of poor or no surf lasts from now right through to about Tuesday 21 July.
Finally, on Tuesday 21 July morning, there’s a bit of life. Swell picks up to 5ft from the WNW with a 6-second period – still short period, but combined energy jumps to 164 (moderate wave energy). The wind is glassy, so conditions are clean. That’s the standout of the whole forecast – a clean, glassy morning with some real push. For beginners, 5ft might be at the top end of comfortable, but it’s not out of control. After that Tuesday afternoon, the wind swings onshore and guns it up to 22 mph, so get out early. The rest of the week falls away again to flatness and strong onshores.
For a break like Almanarre (France), exposed to SW swell, this is a brutal run. The only real highlight is that Tuesday 21 July morning – get on it if you can. The rest, you’re better off finding something else to do.
Rusty.
