The Lowdown
Alright, let me break this down for you. Honestly, this is a pretty quiet stretch for Almanarre. We're looking at a run of mostly small, weak surf, and it’s going to stay that way for a while. There’s a solid gap at the start with hardly anything worth paddling out for. The first real chance you’ve got is actually a week away, so be patient.
We kick off with a little bump on Monday, August 24th. The afternoon shows a pulse of southwest swell coming in at 5ft with a 6-second period. Now, the combined energy jumps up to (294), which is moderate, but the wind is a moderate offshore from the SE, keeping things clean. It’s a marginal call, but that’s the most interesting window in the whole forecast. Don’t expect much else.
Before that, from August 18th through the 24th morning, it’s all tiny, weak, and mostly messy. A few glassy moments on Wednesday morning the 19th with 2ft, but it’s just too small to get excited about. You’ll see some cross-off and clean conditions here and there, but the swell is barely a pulse.
After the 24th, it fades right back out. From the 25th right through to the end of the month, we’re looking at flat to near-flat conditions. Wind gets nasty too – strong onshores, some fresh to near-gale gusts – and the energy readings are down to single digits or zero. That’s a long, dry spell.
Into the first couple days of September, Tuesday the 1st and Wednesday the 2nd, we’re still stuck on tiny 1ft leftovers. Clean, sure, but that’s not surf.
For the whole period, water temps are about average for the time of year, nothing wild going on there.
If you’re determined to get wet, your one and only standout is Almanarre on the afternoon of Monday, August 24th. That southwest swell at 5ft with clean offshore wind is your best bet. Just know it’s still a bit of a long shot.
Stay tuned, things can change, but for now, this is a waiting game.
