The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what Almanarre has on offer for the next couple of weeks. Straight up, I gotta be honest with you: it's looking pretty bleak. There's not a single day in this whole 16-day stretch that I'd call a good surf day. The finder has no recommendations for you, and the numbers back that up. We're looking at a long, dry spell, which isn't unheard of for the area, but it's still a bummer. Let's run through it anyway.
We kick off with nothing on Wednesday the 15th – flat calm, zero energy. Thursday morning the 16th sees a tiny 2 ft, 5-second windswell from the SW showing up, with clean, offshore winds from the east. The energy is weak, just 10 (combined), and it's still considered poor conditions. That little bump fades fast through the afternoon into Friday.
The rest of the first week and into the second is all tiny waves and messy wind. Friday morning the 17th has 1 ft but the period drops to 4 seconds – that's just wind chop. Saturday the 18th brings onshore winds and a little more size, with a 3 ft, 5-second swell from the W on Saturday afternoon, but the 22 mph westerly onshore will be making it a washing machine. The energy bumps to 34, but it's still not worth it for a paddle. Honestly, with that wind and that setup, this looks more interesting for a kite surfer than someone looking to paddle out.
Sunday through to the end of the month is the same story. Tiny swells from the W or WSW, mostly under 2 ft, mixed with periods as low as 3 or 4 seconds. We get some glassy conditions on Monday morning the 20th, but the swell is only 1 ft. There's another glassy spell on Thursday the 23rd, but that's flat. On Monday morning the 27th, we finally see the biggest swell of the period at 3 ft, from the WSW with a 6-second period. The wind is glassy from the NW, so it'll be clean. The combined energy reaches 40, which is the highest in the outlook, but even then, the guidance rates this spot poorly. For a wave that's inconsistent to begin with, you'd be rolling the dice on a few knee-high lumps.
The very end of the month gives us some moderate offshore winds on the 29th and 30th, but the swell is a meager 0.7 ft to 1 ft from the S or SSW with a 4 to 6-second period. It's just not enough to get excited about.
Bottom line: there's nothing here to recommend. If you absolutely need to get wet, maybe the morning of the 27th offers the best chance at a clean, small wave, but keep expectations on the floor. Otherwise, give it a miss and check back – forecasts can change.
Rusty.
