Table - best surf conditions forecast for Almanarre over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you – it’s a tough run for the next couple of weeks at Almanarre. The finder’s come up empty on recommendations, and when I dig into the numbers, it’s a long, quiet stretch with barely a ripple worth paddling for. The whole 16-day window is basically a write-off for decent surf. There’s a bit of a pulse around the 19th, but it’s not enough to get excited about. Don’t let it get you down though; this area can go flat, and the forecasts can flip. Keep an eye on it.
We start off on Monday the 13th of July – nothing. Zero combined energy. The water’s sitting at a very unusual 79°, which is a massive 8° warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s weird, but it doesn’t help the waves.
Tuesday the 14th brings a tiny 1ft to 2ft south swell, period a weak 6 seconds, and combined energy of just 6 to 15. It’s clean, but it’s knee-high dribble. Not worth a paddle.
The next week is a flat spell. From Wednesday the 15th right through to Saturday the 19th, we’re looking at tiny waves under 2ft, mostly zero energy, and a lot of onshore or cross-onshore wind. The only flicker of life is Sunday the 19th afternoon. The swell picks up to 3ft from the west, period still a short 6 seconds, but the combined energy finally hits 101 – that’s weak, but it’s something. Winds go light and cross-offshore, so it’s clean. The notes say “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions.” That’s the best of the whole run, but it’s still pretty average.
Then we go flat again. Monday the 20th through to Tuesday the 28th of July – it’s all zeros and tiny, weak pulses. The biggest we see after that is 4ft from the west on the 28th, but that’s with a cross-onshore wind and a 5-second period, combined energy 63. It’s messy and weak. For a beginner, this whole window is a non-event. For anyone else, it’s a long wait. The setup here is exposed, so it’s not a total shock to see such a blank run. Stick with it, but right now, there’s nothing to ride.
Rusty.
