Table - best surf conditions forecast for Acque-Calde (Savona) over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s on the menu for the next couple of weeks at Acque-Calde (Savona).
Honestly, it’s a pretty flat spell ahead. The ocean’s looking like a lake most of the time, and you’ll be waiting a long stretch for anything that even remotely resembles a wave. The first 16 days are a real struggle for surf. There’s a few tiny pulses of swell, but nothing that’s going to get you truly excited. The water is a very warm 82°, which is much warmer than what’s normal for this time of year – feels like bathwater.
The first actual surf recommendation doesn’t pop up until the morning of Monday, July 13th. We’re talking a tiny, weak 0.7ft swell from the SSE, with a short period of 6 seconds and combined wave energy of just 5 – that’s very weak. The wind is offshore from the NW, so it’s clean, but the lack of size and power means it’s barely a ripple. This is a beginner spot, and even beginners might struggle to get a ride.
The afternoon of the 13th is a no-go with onshore wind. Tuesday, July 14th, is glassy in the morning but the swell is even smaller at 0.3ft, and the energy is only 2. Not worth paddling out.
Wednesday, July 15th, morning has a glassy 1.0ft from the SSW, but again, with a period of 5 seconds and energy of 6, it’s just not enough push. From Thursday, July 16th, right through to the end of the month, the forecast shows zero swell energy. Days and days of flat conditions. The only tiny blip is on Saturday, July 18th, with a 0.7ft morning, but that’s nothing to write home about.
The best of a bad bunch? It’s hard to pick a standout, but if you had to, the morning of Sunday, July 19th, offers a 1ft southerly swell and a moderate offshore breeze from the NNW at 12 mph. That’s the cleanest it gets, but the combined energy is still only 9, and the swell is barely a foot and a half. It’s a beginner wave, if you can even call it that.
For the first week, the swell is consistently under 2ft, so it’s not a beginner-friendly size; it’s just too small for anyone. There’s no standout quality, no decent groundswell, no real consistency. The whole 16-day window looks like a write-off for real surfing. You might be better off looking at a kite if the wind picks up, because the wave energy just isn’t there for a paddle.
Rusty.
