Alright, let’s get into it. First up, looking at the whole 16-day window, we’ve got a bit of a slow start, but the real action kicks off around Sunday the 12th of July. There’s a few days of nothing much worth mentioning before that, so don’t rush to get your wettie on just yet.

The first proper surf on offer is Friday morning the 10th of July at Watermans (reef). It’s a beginner-friendly spot, fairly consistent, but honestly, it’s not looking great. We’ve got a 6ft swell from the WSW with a period of 13 seconds, but the wind is cross from the south at 6 mph, and the water is a bit colder than normal at 65°F – about 3°F cooler than usual for this time of year. The combined energy is moderate (922), and the report says it’s marginal. Not a standout.

Saturday the 11th morning is a little cleaner – cross-off wind from the SE at 6 mph, swell drops to 4ft, also from the WSW, period 13 seconds. Energy drops way down to 447. It’s clean, but small. Still nothing to write home about.

Now, Sunday the 12th of July morning is where things start to get interesting. Swell jumps to 7ft from the SW, period 15 seconds – that’s a long-period groundswell, which means better shaped waves and more energy. Wind is light cross-off from the SE at 6 mph, so clean conditions. Combined energy is getting strong at 1788. This is good for experienced surfers, but it’s not a full-on standout yet because the afternoon gets choppy.

Monday the 13th of July morning is the real standout of the whole outlook. Swell is 8ft from the SW, period 17 seconds – that’s very long period, proper groundswell. Wind is offshore from the east at 6 mph, light breeze, clean. Combined energy is a solid 2971. This is excellent for experienced surfers. The long period means it’ll hold up well at a reef like Watermans, and the offshore wind will keep it glassy. If you’re an experienced surfer, this is your window. Crowds are often an issue here, so expect company.

Tuesday the 14th of July is also solid. Morning has 7ft from the WSW, period 15 seconds, ENE wind at 9 mph cross-off, clean. Afternoon turns offshore from the ENE at 6 mph, still clean. Energy stays strong around 1996. Another good day for experienced surfers.

Wednesday the 15th of July is a step down – wind turns cross and onshore, chop picks up, swell holds at 6ft but conditions deteriorate. Not worth chasing.

Thursday the 16th of July gets messy with rain and cross-onshore wind, 8ft swell but poor conditions. That’s a hard pass.

Friday the 17th through Saturday the 18th of July is a write-off – onshore winds, building swell up to 10ft, but the wind is strong and messy. Combined energy hits 4831 on Saturday afternoon, which is very strong, but with a fresh to strong breeze cross-onshore, it’s lumpy and dangerous. Only for the kamikaze crew, or better for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

Then, Sunday the 19th of July afternoon is a bit of a surprise. Swell is still a solid 10ft from the WSW, period 14 seconds, but the wind goes glassy – 3 mph from the WNW. Combined energy is 3875. The report says excellent for experienced surfers. That’s a promising second-week standout, but it’s far out, so less certain.

Monday the 20th of July morning is clean again, offshore ESE wind at 6 mph, 7ft swell from the WSW, period 12 seconds. Energy is 1237. Good, but not as punchy as the previous week.

The rest of the week into the 25th of July has some clean windows – the 21st and 22nd of July mornings have offshore winds and solid swell (8ft on the 22nd), but the energy is moderate. The 23rd of July morning is glassy, 7ft swell, period 14 seconds – that’s a nice one for experienced surfers. The 24th of July morning is glassy but smaller at 5ft.

From the 25th of July onwards, it’s back to onshore wind and poor conditions. So, overall, the best bet is Monday the 13th of July morning at Watermans – that’s your standout. Sunday the 19th of July afternoon is a long-range promise, but keep an eye on it.

Stay stoked, catch you in the water.
