Table - best surf conditions forecast for Watermans over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, and let's talk surf for this stretch.
We're looking at a slow start. Saturday the 11th is a write-off with messy cross-shore winds. Your first real chance comes Sunday morning, July 12th, at Watermans. This reef break is fairly consistent, and we've got a clean 7ft SW swell with that light SE breeze making it cross-offshore. The water's a bit cooler than usual, running about 3°F colder than average at 64°F. The wave energy is solid at 1788, and with a long 15-second period, these are proper lines wrapping around the reef. Wind is light, so expect clean, rippable faces for experienced guys, but be aware, crowds are often here.
Monday the 13th keeps the energy up. The morning is another winner with a bigger 8ft SW groundswell (17 sec period) and clean offshore E wind at 6 mph. Energy is up to a strong 2971. That's expert territory for sure. Tuesday the 14th is also clean all day, with 7ft WSW swell and light offshore winds holding through the afternoon.
Wednesday the 15th falls apart with cross-shore winds and chop. Thursday the 16th gets messy again. Then there's a big gap. From Friday the 17th through the weekend, the wind turns onshore and the conditions go poor. Saturday the 18th of July sees a massive 15ft WSW swell with a crazy energy reading of 11145, but with a 22 mph cross-onshore wind and rain, it's a total mess for surfing. That's a kitesurfing day, not a paddle day.
The next real highlight is Sunday the 19th of July. The morning is clean with 8ft WSW swell and a NE cross-offshore breeze, and the afternoon goes glassy with light airs. That is a prime window for experienced surfers on a decent-sized, clean swell.
The following week, from Monday the 20th, the swell drops to a more friendly 5ft to 5ft range. The mornings are clean, but the afternoons get a bit bumpy. The standout in this stretch is Tuesday the 21st, with a clean 5ft SW groundswell (15 seconds) and a light offshore E wind. It's not huge, but it's clean and fun for everyone.
After another little lull in the middle of the week, Thursday morning, July 23rd, delivers a solid 8ft WSW groundswell (17 sec period) with a light NNE cross-offshore breeze and strong energy at 4374. That's a serious swell for the experienced crew.
The final week fades into onshore slop and weak swell until Sunday, July 26th, which offers a final clean look at small 4ft waves with a light NE wind.
The standout sessions to mark on your calendar are Sunday morning July 12th for the first clean one, and Sunday afternoon July 19th for that glassy, sizeable swell. The Thursday morning July 23rd is the one for the big-wave hunters.
Rusty.
