Alright, let’s talk about it. The next two weeks are looking pretty flat and average. The first few days are a total loss – Wednesday the 5th through the weekend, it’s all small, messy, onshore wind slop, with waist-high junk and weak wave energy barely cracking 175. Not worth a paddle.

A little pulse comes through from Saturday the 8th, but it’s still marginal. Swell swings to the SSW, and the combined energy gets a bit of a lift – up to 519 on Saturday afternoon (moderate), but it’s a cross-onshore wind and the waves are only around 3 feet. Sunday the 9th is the same story with a light onshore breeze.

The best of a very average run is likely the late afternoons around the 14th and 15th of August. Friday the 14th afternoon brings a 3-foot SSW swell with a long period of 18 seconds, and light offshore wind from the W. The combined energy jumps to 757 (moderate to strong). This is groundswell, and at Turtles, a beach break, that long period might make the waves a bit too straight and tricky. Still, it’s a clean little wave. Saturday the 15th afternoon picks up a touch more size, hitting 4 feet from the SSW with a 16-second period, light offshore winds, and combined energy of 732 (moderate to strong). That’s the cleanest window we’ll see. Water temp is about average for this time of year, so no big deal.

After that, the 16th through the 20th trails off again into small, inconsistent, onshore junk. The 17th and 18th are back to 3-foot slop with cross-onshore breezes. It’s a long gap of days with nothing to recommend, aside from those two afternoons.

If you’re itching, the standout is Saturday the 15th afternoon. The 4-foot SSW swell at 16 seconds, under a light offshore W breeze, offers the cleanest, most likely fun wave. The crowd profile at Turtles is listed as “often,” so get there early if you want a spot. It’s still small, and the long period will make it a bit walled-up at the beach, but it’s your best bet.
