Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trigg Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s comin’ our way.
Alright mate, Trigg Beach is where we’re at for the whole run. There’s a bit of a wait though. Nothin’ really worth paddlin’ out for until Sunday the 12th of July, so you’ve got Friday and Saturday to get the gear sorted.
Come Sunday morning the 12th, it starts to wake up. We’ve got a clean 7ft SW swell rolling in at 15 seconds – that’s proper groundswell energy, long lines, and with a light SE breeze puttin’ it cross-off, it’ll be nice and clean. Combined wave energy is gettin’ up there (1788). This is a good one for experienced surfers – 7ft is pushin’ it for beginners, so let the better crew have it.
Monday the 13th morning looks like the standout early in the week. Swell bumps up to 8ft from the SW, with a very long 17-second period. That’s a lot of energy (2971) – proper grunty groundswell. And with a clean offshore wind from the east, it’s gonna be well-shaped. Again, this is expert territory at that size.
Tuesday the 14th holds in nicely. 7ft from the WSW with an offshore wind from the ENE all day long, light in the arvo. Clean, clean, clean. Combined energy is still solid (1655-1652). That’s a good solid day for a strong intermediate.
We hit a bit of a lousy patch from Wednesday the 15th through to Saturday the 18th. Winds go onshore or cross-shore, and things get choppy. Saturday the 18th is a write-off – windy, rainy, and a 13ft to 15ft SW swell with a ridiculous energy reading (11145 to 16890), but it’s a blown-out mess. That’s kite-surf weather, not paddle surf.
Now, hold onto your board. Sunday the 19th of July is another real standout. Swell drops back to a more manageable 8ft to 8ft from the WSW. The wind goes light from the north-east, and by Sunday afternoon, it’s dead glassy. Clean as a whistle. That 8ft is still for experienced surfers, but the quality will be top-notch. Crowds can be an issue here at Trigg – it’s “often” busy, so get out early or late. Water temp is 64°F, which is a bit colder than average for this time of year (anomaly of -3°F), so a steamer will be your best mate.
After that, Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st offer cleaner, smaller waves in the 5ft to 5ft range, with a mix of offshore and glassy conditions. Good for gettin’ a few fun ones without the big-swingin’ energy.
Then, Thursday the 23rd of July morning looks like another big one to circle on the calendar. An 8ft WSW swell, 17-second period, and a clean cross-off breeze from the north-northeast. The energy is huge (4374) – that’s a serious pulse. It’s still expert territory, but if you can handle it, it’ll be choice. The afternoon goes cross-onshore and chops it up a bit.
After that, Friday the 24th onwards looks like a mess of onshore winds and rain squalls, droppin’ back to tiny surf by the 26th. So, if you can, hit Sunday the 12th, Monday the 13th morning, Tuesday the 14th, Sunday the 19th, and maybe Thursday the 23rd morning. The real standouts for me are Monday the 13th morning for raw power and Sunday the 19th afternoon for that glorious glass.
Rusty.
