Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's break down what's coming our way for the next couple of weeks at Trigg Beach.
It’s a quiet start for the next couple of days with a bit of swell in the water, but the wind is all wrong, making for messy, choppy conditions that aren't worth your time. We’re looking at a bit of a flat patch to kick things off.
Things start to get interesting on Monday the 6th. The morning is where it's at – we’ve got a solid 8ft groundswell rolling in from the WSW with a long 16-second period. The wind is offshore from the ESE at 9 mph, setting up a clean, lined-up wall. The combined wave energy is pumping at 3118 (moderate to strong). This is quality stuff, but with that size, this one is strictly for the experienced crew. It’s a standout window.
Tuesday the 7th keeps the good times rolling with a clean morning. The swell is still a meaty 8ft from the WSW, period holding at 16 seconds, and the wind is a light SE breeze. It’ll be clean, but again, this is solid, powerful surf – one for the advanced surfers. The energy is still strong at 3170.
Then we get a little magic on Wednesday morning the 8th. The swell drops to a still-sizable 6ft from the WSW, but the wind goes glassy. Absolutely dead calm. It doesn't get much better than that for a clean face. The energy is 1840. This is going to be pristine, and while it’s still a bit punchy, it opens up for the strong intermediates as well.
After a couple of days of onshore junk through Thursday the 9th, Friday the 10th brings a nice reset. The morning has a clean 5ft swell from the WSW with a light offshore ESE breeze. The energy drops to 722 (moderate), making for fun, user-friendly waves without the thumping power of the days before. A great morning for the majority of surfers.
The following Monday, July 13th, morning session looks excellent again. A clean 6ft SW groundswell with a long 16-second period, light offshore wind from the East. Energy is 1918. This will be well-shaped and powerful but clean.
Looking way out, the real highlight of the whole outlook looks like it’s shaping up for Saturday the 18th. The afternoon session is a beast: a deep 10ft SW groundswell with a very long 18-second period, and offshore winds from the ESE at 9 mph. The wave energy is a massive 5111 (strong to very strong). That’s proper, heavy, groundswell – big, powerful lines. This is a no-brainer for any expert surfer who can handle serious size. It’s a long way off, so keep an eye on it, but it’s got the potential to be the best day of the month.
Sunday the 19th morning will still have plenty of push with a 8ft WSW swell at 16 seconds and clean offshore winds, offering another great, albeit slightly smaller, day for the experienced.
So to sum it up: The best on offer is the clean, glassy Wednesday morning the 8th for a wide range of surfers, and the absolute highlight is the big, offshore Saturday the 18th for the hardcore guys.
Rusty.
