Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trigg Beach over the next 16 days.
G'day, Rusty here, looking at the surf ahead at Trigg Beach. We've got a bit of a slow start, but the good news is once things kick off, there's a solid run of waves coming through. The first real surf worth mentioning is on Saturday the 11th of July, so there's a bit of a gap before that.
Alright, let's get into it. Saturday morning the 11th is your first chance. Trigg Beach is a beach and point setup, fairly exposed to the swell. We've got a 4ft WSW swell on the way, with a 13-second period pushing through. The combined swell energy is sitting at 447 (moderate). The wind's a light 6 mph from the SE, which is a cross-off breeze, and it's clean. It's not the biggest, but it's a nice intro to the weekend.
The real standout comes Sunday morning the 12th. The swell jumps up to 7ft from the SW, with a 15-second period – that's a long period groundswell, meaning proper energy and shape. The combined energy is a solid 1788 (strong). The wind is 3 mph from the SE, making it a cross-off breeze, and it's clean. This is where the experienced surfers will be having a ball. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so nothing unusual there.
Monday morning the 13th is another cracker, possibly the best of the run. Swell is 8ft from the SW, with a 17-second period – that's a very long period groundswell. The combined energy is 2971 (strong). The wind is 6 mph from the ESE, a cross-off breeze, and it's clean. This is big, powerful surf, definitely for experts only. At this size (over 8ft), it's not for the faint-hearted.
Tuesday the 14th is a beauty too. Both morning and afternoon are looking clean with offshore winds. Morning has 7ft from the WSW at 15 seconds, with a 9 mph ENE offshore breeze. The combined energy is 1853 (strong). Afternoon is 7ft from the WSW, 15 seconds, with a 6 mph E offshore breeze and 1850 (strong) energy. Both are described as excellent for experienced surfers.
Things start to fall apart a bit from Wednesday the 15th. The wind picks up from the north, and the quality drops. By Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th, it's looking poor with strong onshore winds, so not worth a paddle.
Then we get a big pulse on Saturday the 18th. Swell is a massive 13ft from the WSW, with an 18-second period. The combined energy is 10485 (very strong). But the wind is a strong 28 mph from the WSW, directly onshore, and it's a beach and point setup. This is a total mess for surfing – way too big, blown out, and dangerous. For the kite surfers out there, this would be a ripper session.
But don't worry, the swell cleans up again. Sunday the 19th is a glassy gem. 10ft from the WSW, 14 seconds, with 3 mph winds from the SSE. The combined energy is 3595 (strong). It's described as glassy and excellent for experienced surfers. That's a big, clean day for the crew who know what they're doing.
Monday the 20th drops back to 5ft from the SW, 13 seconds, with a light NE cross-off breeze. Combined energy is 851 (moderate). It's clean and good for a session.
The rest of the week into the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd, the surf gets smaller and wind starts to mess it up a bit. There's a few marginal days in there, but nothing to write home about.
By the 24th and 25th of July, we get a bit of a late run. Friday the 24th has a 7ft to 7ft WSW swell, 15-16 seconds, with a cross-off breeze from the SE (15-16 mph). The combined energy is around 2000 (strong). It's a bit windy, but it's clean and there's size. A solid option for the end of the fortnight.
So, the standout windows are Sunday the 12th through Tuesday the 14th, and then Sunday the 19th. The 19th is a bit further out, so keep an eye on it, but it looks promising.
Stay safe out there.
Rusty.
