The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.

Honestly, the first week and a half is a bit of a write-off for Treyarnon. We’ve got a long stretch of pretty ordinary conditions, with the odd glimmer that never really turns into anything rideable. The water is sitting at 65°F, which is a touch warmer than we’d normally expect for this time of year, so at least the paddle out won’t bite.

The first real chance of anything decent doesn’t show up until Sunday the 16th. Now that’s a long way off, but it’s the only time this forecast really gets my blood pumping. The 16th looks like the standout. Sunday morning starts with a solid 8ft swell from the west-northwest, with a light offshore breeze from the SSE. That’s a proper promising combo. The wave energy is pumping hard at 725 (moderate to strong), and the wind is light enough to keep the surface clean. It’s a bit of a lump for the beginners, but for anyone with a bit of experience, that’s the session to circle. The afternoon holds up too, with the same 8ft swell, a clean cross-offshore breeze, and even more energy at 782. That’s as good as it gets in this outlook.

Monday the 17th still has some life in it, with a 7ft west-northwest swell and a clean cross-offshore wind in the morning. The energy is still strong at 510. It’s a step down from Sunday, but still a solid day. The quality drops off again by Monday afternoon as the wind turns cross-on.

So, the long and short of it: you’re mostly waiting until the second weekend. The 16th is the clear winner, and the 17th morning is a decent backup. The rest of the time, it’s either flat or messy. That’s a long dry spell, but when it finally comes together, it looks worth the wait.
