The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be real with you about the next couple of weeks. This stretch is looking pretty bleak, so I'll keep it short.
We've got nothing for the first big chunk of the forecast. From now all the way through Thursday the 28th of August, 13th Street is effectively flat or blown out. A whole week of poor conditions and tiny swell. You'd be better off cleaning the wax off your board than paddling out.
Things start to show a flicker of life from the 29th. Friday the 29th of August morning, we see a bit of a lift with a 3ft swell from the SSW, running on a 17-second period. The energy is moderate at best (473), and there's a light breeze on it. But it's a long-period groundswell, better suited to a point or reef than a beach break like this. It'll be inconsistent and for the advanced crew only. The water temp hovers around average for August, nothing weird going on.
The only date you might want to circle is Friday the 4th of September morning. The swell rolls in at 2ft from the SSW, with a very long period of 19 seconds (244 energy). The wind is absolutely glassy – light airs, clean as a whistle. That's the kind of condition that makes small waves feel fun. It's still tiny, but for a mellow, glassy session on a longboard, that's your window. The rest is just messy with onshore wind.
Honestly, it's a pretty blank run for 13th Street. It doesn't stay this poor for long around here, so keep an eye on the charts, but for now, this is a waiting game.
Rusty.
