The Lowdown

Alright crew, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the next couple of weeks.

We’ve got a solid run of clean, user-friendly surf coming up at Telescopes, a consistent reef break that’s got its act together for a good stretch. The water temp is sitting pretty much average for this time of year, so no surprises there. The standout period is this week, with a few mornings that are going to be absolute magic.

Wednesday morning, July 15 kicks things off right. We’re looking at a clean 4ft SSW swell with a 15-second period, and the wind is glassy out of the SE at 3 mph. That’s a recipe for smooth, lined-up waves. The combined energy is moderate (876), and conditions are going to be proper. This is a reef break, and that long period groundswell will wrap in nicely, giving you some real push. Just keep in mind, crowds are possible here.

Thursday morning, July 16 is another cracker. Offshore wind from the ESE at 3 mph, 4ft SW swell, 15 seconds, clean faces. The energy is still solid (679). This is right up there with the best of the week.

Friday morning, July 17 holds the pattern. 4ft SW swell, 16-second period, and a cross-offshore breeze from the SE at 6 mph. Clean, consistent, and inviting (799).

Saturday morning, July 18 is a bit smaller at 4ft SW, but the wind is offshore from the E at 3 mph, and the afternoon goes glassy. A great weekend option.

Monday afternoon, July 20 is a real standout for the more experienced. The swell jumps to 5ft from the SSW, with a 16-second period, and the wind goes glassy out of the WSW at 3 mph. The energy is strong (1288), and the conditions are labelled as excellent for experienced surfers. This is a powerful, clean groundswell that will be pushing hard. If you’ve got the skills, it’s worth the wait.

Tuesday morning, July 21 keeps the size with 5ft SSW, 14 seconds, and a solid offshore from the E at 9 mph. Clean and strong (1002), another one for the confident surfer.

There’s a short lull from the 22nd to the 24th where the swell drops and the wind gets a bit messier, but the energy is still moderate. Then Sunday morning, July 26 is a sweet little surprise. Glassy, calm winds, 3ft SSW swell with a 14-second period. It’s clean but small, perfect for a longboard or a fun cruiser.

Now, Monday morning, July 27 is a real promise. The period jumps to a very long 21 seconds, with 3ft SSW swell. The energy is solid (1002), and the wind is offshore from the E at 6 mph. That long period groundswell will be a dream at this reef, offering long, peeling walls. It’s a bit of a wait, but it’s a promising one.

Tuesday morning, July 28 is another one to circle. 4ft SSW, 18-second period, glassy conditions, and strong energy (1465). Excellent for experienced surfers.

Thursday morning, July 30 rounds out the run with 4ft SSW, 17-second period, clean cross-offshore wind, and strong energy (1201). Another excellent session on offer.

Overall, the best on offer is Wednesday morning, July 15 for its perfect glassy start to the run, and Monday afternoon, July 20 for the bigger, more powerful, clean conditions. The long-range stuff from the 27th onwards is looking promising, but it’s a bit further out, so keep an eye on it.

Rusty.
