Table - best surf conditions forecast for Telescopes over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk surf for the next couple of weeks. Long-range stuff is always a bit of a tease, but there’s some proper swell lining up if you’re patient.
The opening is pretty mellow, with small, clean waves that won’t get your heart rate up. But hang in there, because the middle of the outlook is where we get some real juice. There’s a gap of a few days of weak surf at the start, then it builds nicely.
The main spot to focus on is Telescopes, an advanced reef break that’s got a reliable southwest exposure. The water temp is your standard for this time of year. Now, Tuesday July 14th is when the fun begins. You’ve got a 4ft south-southwest swell rolling in with a 18-second period – that’s a proper groundswell with some heft. Combined energy is solid at (1222), and with a light, cross-off breeze in the morning, the surface will be clean. This is good size, so it’s one for the experienced crew. The long period means long, lined-up waves on the reef, but be ready for longer waits between sets.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th keep the quality up with consistent 4-5ft SSW swell and light winds. The energy hangs around (885-785), so it’s still got plenty of go. Clean conditions make for a good session.
Then comes the real standout. Saturday July 19th is a beauty. In the morning, you’ve got a 3ft south swell, but the period is a massive 22 seconds – that’s a long, powerful groundswell. Energy is (1019) and winds are light and cross-off, so it’ll be glassy. The afternoon steps it up to 4ft with the same direction and period, energy jumping to (1541). This is excellent surf, but the long period makes it a reef spot’s game. Beach breaks might get too straight.
Monday the 20th pushes it bigger with a 6ft SSW swell (2173 combined energy) and light winds. That’s expert territory for sure, but for those who can handle it, it’s powerful and clean. Tuesday the 21st stays strong with a 6ft south swell, and the afternoon turns glassy with a light offshore breeze from the SE. Energy is (1487) – a proper finish to the window.
After the 21st, the swell backs off into the last week of July, but conditions stay clean with light and glassy winds. The smaller days will be fun for anyone, but the real meat of this forecast is that run from the 14th through the 21st – and the 19th and 20th are the ones to circle on your calendar.
That’s the rundown. Get on it when it’s good.
Rusty.
