The Lowdown
Alright, let’s switch it up for the imperial crew. Rusty here, looking at the same stretch of coast.
We’re looking at a pretty flat 16 days, to be honest. The swell for Tayelet Ashkelon (sandbar) is just not showing up. It’s a persistent WNW swell direction, which is the right direction, but the size is pitiful. The water is a touch warmer than average for the season, sitting at 85°F.
Starting Tuesday, 4th of August, we’ve got a tiny 2 ft NW swell. The morning has a light cross-on wind, and the afternoon gets trashed by a 12 mph onshore wind. The combined energy is a weak 11. It’s a no-go. Wednesday the 5th morning goes glassy on a 2 ft WNW swell, but with only 25 (weak) energy, it’s barely a ripple. The afternoons are consistently blown out by moderate onshore winds all week.
The energy stays in the low double-digits all the way through, rarely breaking 50 (weak). The swell height never tops 3 ft, and the period is 5-8 seconds, just weak, short-period wind swell. There are a few glassy mornings—like Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th—but the swell is only 1 ft to 2 ft. The best you’ll see might be Sunday the 16th, with a light cross-offshore wind and a 2 ft WNW swell, giving an energy of 40 (weak). It’s clean, but it’s tiny.
The second week is more of the same. The swell stays small, and the energy struggles to hit 30 (weak). It’s a long stretch of small, choppy, and flat conditions. Nothing to get excited about.
Rusty out.
