Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
G'day, I'm Rusty. Let's have a look at what's in store at Sejorong. This reef and point break is usually pretty inconsistent, so you've got to be patient. The water's at 82°F, which is about average for the time of year.
Monday the 6th of July kicks off with a 4ft SSW groundswell carrying a long 17-second period, but that cross-shore wind at 12 mph is blowing the surface out. The combined energy is huge at 1592, but the reports say it's marginal, and I'd call it more frustrating than fun. The afternoon is worse with the wind picking up to 16 mph.
Tuesday the 7th is a dead loss – wind is a nasty 16 mph cross-shore, and conditions are being called poor. The swell energy drops to 987, which tells you everything.
Honestly, the first week is a grind. From Wednesday the 8th through to Sunday the 13th of July, it's the same pattern: solid 5ft to 7ft SSW groundswell, but that cross-shore wind at 12-16 mph won't let up. The combined energy peaks on Wednesday the 8th afternoon at 2128, which is strong, but it's always going to be messy out there.
Saturday morning the 11th is a bit better – wind drops to 12 mph, and the swell is a manageable 5ft from the SW with a 15-second period. It's still cross-shore, but it's less of a fight. Then on Monday the 13th, we get a weird one: a 3ft SSW swell with a very long 21-second period showing up in the afternoon. That long period could work nicely at a reef and point, but the wind is still 16 mph, so it's only marginal.
The standout window is Tuesday the 14th of July. We've got 6ft SSW swell, a solid 17-18 second period, and combined energy at 2283 to 2312 – that's proper strong. The wind is still cross-shore, but if it eases, that's the session to aim for. This is the one I'm watching.
After that, the swell stays between 5ft and 6ft through to the 20th of July, but the wind stays stubborn. The crowd at Sejorong is 'often', so expect company if the conditions turn. The best-looking morning later in the run is Saturday the 18th – 4ft SW swell, 14 seconds, and a gentle 9 mph cross-shore breeze. That's the lightest wind we see, and with moderate energy at 1337, it could be your cleanest session of the whole forecast.
Given the persistent cross-shore wind and the beach-and-reef setup, I'd honestly say this forecast looks more promising for kite surfing than for clean paddle surfing. You'll be hunting for a good face most days.
Rusty.
