The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Ruby Bay has in store for us.
To be straight with you, this is a tough stretch. Looking at the whole 16-day run, there’s just not much to get excited about. We've got a long quiet spell coming up. From the start on Tuesday the 14th right through to the end of the forecast, the surf is tiny and honestly, it’s just not worth paddling out for. You’re looking at a solid blank run of days here.
The only tiny bump we get is on the afternoon of Tuesday the 14th. Ruby Bay will see a small 3ft swell from the North, with a short period of 7 seconds. It's glassy though, with the wind going dead calm, so the water will be like a mirror. That’s the best you’ll get, but the wave energy is really weak at only 68, so it’s not going to be doing much. The water temperature is sitting at 53°F, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year.
Beyond that, it’s a whole lot of nothing. Tiny little pulses of swell, most under 0.7ft, with the odd period dragging on forever. For example, on Saturday the 18th, we get a tiny 0.3ft swell but with a very long period of 18 seconds – that’s a groundswell but there’s no power behind it (energy of just 6). It’ll just roll straight past a beach break like this.
The outlook stays flat through the second week too. A few little 0.3ft and 0.7ft pulses from the North show up around the 22nd and 23rd, with clean conditions and glassy mornings, but again, combined energy is in the single digits. It’s just not surfable in any meaningful way. There’s no standout day here, not a single one I’d point you to.
Ruby Bay is a sheltered point that rarely breaks, and this forecast proves it. When it’s flat, it’s flat. Nothing to do but wait for the next change in the charts.
Take care,
Rusty.
