Table - best surf conditions forecast for Namotu Lefts over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s run it down for Namotu Lefts in feet and miles per hour.
Water temp is a comfortable 78°, dead on normal for July. No surprises there.
The first few days are a bit of a struggle. On Sunday the 12th, you got waves around 6ft from the SSW, but a 9 mph SE wind is making it cross and a little lumpy. Monday and Tuesday are smaller with the wind still up.
The middle of the week – Wednesday the 15th through Thursday – sees weak, short-period swell with clean wind, but the wave energy is low (465). The lineup will be empty, but the waves are barely there.
Your first real highlight: Friday the 17th afternoon. Glassy. Wind goes dead calm from the NW at 3 mph. Swell is a clean 4ft from the SW with a long 15-second period – that’s real groundswell. On a reef, that’ll mean smooth, lined-up waves. Wave energy is moderate (702). Crowds will be nonexistent.
Second standout is Monday morning the 20th. Swell jumps to 5ft from the SSW with a whopping 19-second period. Combined energy hits a strong 1998 – that’s some serious power. Wind is 9 mph from the east, clean and cross-off. This one’s size is for experienced surfers only, and the sets will be spaced out but heavy.
After that, a few days of onshore wind and small waves roll through, but look at Monday the 27th morning – a solid 7ft SSW swell with clean offshore ESE wind at 9 mph. That’s expert territory and a big finish to the outlook.
So, your two best bets: the glassy Friday the 17th afternoon for a smooth, fun session, and the powerful Monday the 20th morning for anyone wanting some serious swell. Everything else is just waiting for the right moment.
Rusty.
