Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, let’s dive into what’s shaking. We’re looking at a reef that faces southwest, and the water temp is 79°F to start, pretty normal for the season.
First couple days, Friday and Saturday, are a wash. Wind is messy, waves small and lumpy. Forget it.
Sunday, July 5th, things clean up. Swell at 4ft from the SSE, 13-second period, with a light cross-offshore breeze. Combined energy is moderate (482). It’s small but fun for the intermediate surfer.
Monday the 6th is small at 3ft in the morning. Tuesday the 7th is a quiet gem – 2ft from the SW with a 15-second period, light cross-off wind, clean. A long period groundswell, so it’ll wrap into the reef nicely. Low energy (268), but a sneaky glassy session.
The big pulse arrives Wednesday morning, July 8th. 8ft from the SSW, 18-second period – that’s a massive, very long period groundswell. Combined energy is off the charts at 3395. This is well over 8ft, so expert territory only. Light cross-onshore wind will put a bit of texture on it, but the power is unbelievable. Afternoon pushes it to 10ft, but the wind picks up and chops it bad.
Thursday and Friday, 9th and 10th, stay big – 7ft to 8ft from the SSW – but the wind is onshore or side-shore and the surface is poor. Strong energy (1652-2986) but not clean. Kite surfers might fancy it.
Saturday morning, July 11th, is a standout. Swell drops to 7ft from the SSW, 12-second period, still big for intermediates but great for the experienced. Wind is east-south-east at 6 mph, cross-offshore, and the conditions are clean. Combined energy is strong (1676). Crowds are rare here, so you get a powerful reef wave nearly to yourself. This is your morning.
Sunday the 12th drops to 3ft, but the 16-second period gives it a clean, lined-up feel with light cross-off winds. A nice smaller day for a longboard.
From Monday 13th to Saturday 18th, it’s mostly small, 2ft to 4ft, with mixed winds. Thursday 16th afternoon is a glassy calm treat – 3ft from the SSE, combined energy of 742, slick as glass. Friday 17th morning has 3ft from the SSW with a 19-second period – very long period – energy jumps to 1272. Slight side-shore wind, so expect a bit of a bump but with real push.
Best bets: Wednesday July 8th morning for experts on a big swell, and Saturday July 11th morning for a powerful, clean session for the experienced. Thursday 16th afternoon for a glassy, easy ride.
Rusty.
