The Lowdown
Well, Rusty here. Let's have a yarn about what's on the table. It's gonna be quiet. Dead quiet. The only spot in the mix is Le Sillon, a sandbar set-up, and it's not lookin' like any kind of winner. We're looking at a long stretch of nothing much over this 16-day window.
We start on Monday, August 3rd. There's a tiny 0.7 ft swell from the West, period about 10 seconds, but the combined wave energy is a weak 9. The water temp is 69°, running *much* warmer than normal for now. But the surf quality is poor. Total dud.
Through that first week, it's flat and messy. By Tuesday the 4th, still tiny at 0.7 ft to 1.0 ft. Winds are mostly cross-shore or straight onshore, making everything choppy. Wednesday the 5th sees a slight bump, the swell hits 3 ft to 3 ft from the WNW, period is a short 8 seconds, and the energy gets up to a moderate 109 then 137. But the wind is a strong onshore at 15 mph from the NW, blowing the place apart. It's junk. The rest of the week through Saturday the 8th is small, weak, and ugly.
The second week gets a little cleaner here and there. Wednesday morning the 12th of August has a light offshore wind from the ESE. The swell is tiny at 1 ft from the WNW (6 second period). It'll look clean on the surface, but with combined energy of only 24, you'll be lucky to get wet. From Thursday the 13th all the way to Tuesday the 18th of August, it's more tiny surf, often choppy, and nothing that'll make you paddle out.
Honestly, for a sandbar, this setup is more interesting for kiteboarding than paddling. This is a long dry spell. Things can change, but at the moment, there's nothing doing.
Rusty.
