Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get into what's cookin' for Le Porge.
Alright, straight up, the next week and a half is a bit of a write-off. We've got a long stretch of really weak, messy surf with onshore or cross-shore winds making a mess of things. It's not looking good for a paddle until we get towards the end of the period. To be honest, there's a big empty gap here for anyone wanting a decent wave.
There is one standout that pops out, but it's a way off. Mark your calendars for Saturday morning, July 20th. That's our best shot. The swell bumps up to a clean-looking 4 ft from the WNW and the wind is forecast to be glassy, which is a beautiful thing to hear. The wave energy is moderate, coming in at (172) for that session. It's an exposed beach break here, so that short period (7 seconds) means it might be a bit fat and crumbly, but with those conditions it'll be ridable and fun for the beginner and intermediate crew. It's a beginner-friendly spot anyway, so that size is perfect for learning.
The water temperature is a very unusual 75°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year at Le Porge. That's a big anomaly – nearly four degrees above average, so you can leave the 4/3 at home.
The only other flicker of hope is the morning of Sunday, July 19th. You'll see 4 ft to 5 ft WNW swell pushing in, but it's cross-on and choppy, so it won't be as clean as the Monday. The wave energy there is strong at (262) for the Sunday morning, but the quality just isn't there with that wind.
To sum it up: the next two weeks are mostly a bust for quality surf. The one true standout is that glassy morning on July 20th. It's a long way out, so don't book the trip just yet, but that's the window to keep an eye on. Everything else is skunk territory.
Rusty.
