Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Porge over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on offer down at the coast.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it's a pretty bleak run for the next couple of weeks. We're looking at a long, quiet stretch. For the most part, the surf is tiny and the wind is just about always in the wrong direction. The only spot in the game is Le Porge, but it’s a real mixed bag and mostly a no-go.
Looking at the whole 16-day window, we start with a tiny glimmer but then a long gap where there’s just nothing to get excited about. For almost two weeks, from late on the 12th of July right through to the 22nd, the conditions are just poor. You’ll see a few pulses of waist-to-chest high swell, but the onshore and cross-onshore winds just trash it. The combined swell energy is weak, rarely reaching triple digits. It’s just not worth the paddle out for any of that.
The first real chance of anything decent is that Sunday afternoon, the 12th of July. Now, I know the score is low, but hear me out. Le Porge is an exposed beach, and it’s a beginner-friendly break. We’ve got a tiny little 2 ft swell from the WNW, period of 9 seconds. That's not big, but the kicker here is the wind. It’s glassy. Glassy! A light 3 mph breeze from the NNE has the place looking like a mirror. The water is cooking at 77°F, which is a whopping 8°F warmer than normal for this time of year, so you can almost skip the wetsuit. This is the best you are going to get in this whole forecast. For a complete beginner or someone just wanting to get wet in warm, clean, tiny waves, this is the standout moment. Don’t blink.
After that Sunday, it’s a desert. From Monday the 13th right through to Tuesday the 22nd of July, the surf quality is marked as poor. We see plenty of days with cross-on or onshore winds, making a mess of things. On the 20th of July, there’s a bump in size to 4 ft from the NW with moderate energy (193), but the wind is cross-onshore or onshore again, so it’s just not clean. A couple of mornings on the 22nd of July show some cross-offshore potential from the SSW, but the swell is still small and the afternoon gets chopped up by a 12 mph NW wind.
Then we get to the back half of the outlook, around the 23rd of July. The swell starts to kick up. Thursday morning sees a 5 ft WNW swell with a moderate period, and the energy is building (404). Thursday afternoon jumps to 6 ft from the WNW with a 10-second period and proper strong energy (692). This is the kind of size that will make you take notice. But the wind… it’s cross-onshore from the NW at 16 mph. That’s a lot of wind for a beach break like Le Porge. For the experienced guys, it might be punchy and powerful, but clean it will not be.
It’s a tough call. The only true standout is that tiny, glassy, warm-water session on Sunday the 12th. Everything else is either too small and windy, or building in size but getting hammered by onshores. If you’re a beginner, you had your one day. If you’re an expert, you might find something on the 23rd, but it’ll be a battle.
Take care of yourselves.
Rusty.
