Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Porge over the next 16 days.
Right, folks. Rusty here with a look at the next couple of weeks for Le Porge. Let’s be straight with you – this stretch looks pretty grim for a paddle. The whole 16-day window is a bit of a write-off, so if you’ve got a kiteboard, you might want to dust it off.
The pattern is just not on our side. From now, all the way through to the 24th of July, there’s barely a whisper of a decent wave. The swell is tiny, the wind is almost always on it or cross-shore, and the energy is just lacking. On Sunday morning the 12th of July, you’ll see the closest thing to a surfable moment, but it’s a one-off flicker. The morning clears up with a light offshore breeze from the ESE, but the swell is only 2 ft from the WNW at 9 seconds, with weak combined energy (49). It’s clean, but it’s barely a ripple. The rest of Sunday is messy again.
After that, it’s a long, flat, and choppy slog. We’re talking days of onshore winds, mostly from the NW or W, with swell heights barely scraping 3 ft and periods that are way too short to hold any shape. You’ll see a slight bump in combined energy around the 21st of July (Tuesday) with a reading of 117, but it’s a 3 ft swell from the NW with a pathetic 7-second period, and the wind is howling onshore from the SW at 15-18 mph. That’s not surf; that’s a washing machine. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
For a beginner spot like this, anything over 5 ft is a handful, but we never even get close. The short period swells (under 8 seconds) mean the waves are weak and crumbly, and the long gaps between sets are non-existent. With the wind so consistently on it, the setup honestly looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
So, the brutal truth is there’s nothing to recommend. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s not totally unusual when the winds settle in. Forecasts can change, but for now, I’d say leave the boards in the car and keep an eye on that wind chart.
Rusty.
