The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming.
The first week is pretty much a right-off. The only break we’ve got is Le Porge, a mellow beginner beach break that’s fairly consistent and exposed to west-northwest swell. But for days, it’s just no good.
Monday the 24th starts with a tiny 1ft W swell (19 combined energy) and a cross-off breeze – nothing happening. Tuesday to Friday is more of the same: small, messy, and blown out. Thursday morning bumps up to 4ft from the W with an 8-second period and 200 combined energy, but with a cross-off SE wind, it’s still only marginal.
Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th have some size – 6ft to 5ft from the W and WNW – but it’s onshore and messy. The energy jumps into the 400-500s, but the wind ruins it. Way too big and rough for most beginners, and more of a kite-surfing day than a paddle day.
A glimmer shows up on Tuesday the 1st of September morning. A 4ft WNW groundswell (9-second period) with 254 combined energy and a clean cross-off NE breeze at 9 mph. That’s the first proper session – clean, rideable, and the water temp is about normal for the season.
Then it’s back to small chop until Sunday the 7th of September morning. That’s the real standout: 4ft WNW swell, 10-second period, 412 combined energy, and a light offshore wind from the east. Clean, head-high, and well-shaped. That’s your best bet of the whole outlook.
Looking way ahead to Tuesday the 9th of September morning, there’s a big 8ft W groundswell with a very long 18-second period and massive 4553 combined energy. But with onshore wind, that’s going to be a beast. Way too much for a beach break like Le Porge – it’ll close out and be dangerous. Experts only, and even then it’s dicey.
Bottom line: the first week’s a wash. The morning of Sunday the 7th is your best window. The 9th is for the extreme crew only. Don’t hold your breath for the rest.
Catch you later,
Rusty.
