Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Porge over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s shaping up for Le Porge over the next couple of weeks. I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. The forecast is showing a whole lot of nothing special for a long while, so don’t get your hopes up too early.
First up, we’ve got a tiny window on Sunday the 12th. The swell is small, only about 2 ft from the WNW with a period of 9 seconds. Not exciting, but the conditions are the real story here. Sunday morning we’ve got a 12 mph easterly blowing offshore, making things clean, and then Sunday afternoon the wind drops to a glassy 3 mph from the NE. For such small surf, it’ll look pretty. The water is a very unusual 75°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year. The combined energy is weak at 49, so it’s really just a paddle around on a longboard. Don’t expect any power.
After that, the outlook gets bleak. From Monday the 13th all the way through to the end of the 16-day window, every single session is rated as poor surf conditions. That’s a solid two-week gap with nothing worth chasing. On Monday the 13th, the swell bumps up a bit to 3 ft, but the period drops to a weak 6 seconds and the wind is a messy cross-onshore. It’s choppy and junky.
The rest of the days are a mix of tiny swell, onshore wind, and crummy shapes. Even when we get a little bump on Monday the 27th – with 5 ft swell from the WNW and a 9-second period, and combined energy hitting 281 – the wind is still cross-onshore at 12 mph, ruining any chance of it being rideable. That one’s a real heartbreaker.
For the beginner surfer, anything over 5 ft is a handful, but we don’t even get that. We never see anything over 8 ft, so there’s no expert-level swell either. The few times we get glassy or offshore wind, like on Sunday the 12th morning and afternoon, and again on Tuesday the 14th morning and Saturday the 18th morning, the swell is just too tiny to do anything with.
So, if you’re desperate for a splash, the only half-decent moment is that Sunday the 12th, especially the afternoon with the glassy conditions. Bring your biggest log and just enjoy being out there. Otherwise, this is a classic summer flat spell for the area. It tends not to stay this poor forever, but this run is a long one.
Stay patient, and keep an eye on the charts. This is Rusty, signing off.
