Table - best surf conditions forecast for Le Porge over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here, looking at the next few weeks for the Le Porge region. Honestly, it’s a pretty quiet stretch for most of the forecast, with very little to get excited about for a surfer.
The first real chance of anything surfable doesn’t show up until Saturday morning, the 11th of July. Up until then, it’s flat and messy with onshore winds. Even then, the swell is tiny at 2 feet from the NW, but the wind is a light cross-offshore from the NE, keeping things clean. The wave energy is moderate (105), but the waves are just small and weak. It’s nothing to write home about.
The next window is Sunday morning, the 12th of July, with a similar vibe: 2 feet from the WNW and a light cross-offshore from the ESE. Again, clean but tiny, with weak energy (50). It’s ordinary at best.
After that, the forecast goes totally flat and poor for over a week straight. Lots of cross-onshore wind and near-zero swell. The energy readings drop into the teens and twenties. It’s a real barren stretch.
The only standout, and it’s a long way off, comes on the morning of Tuesday, the 21st of July. A solid pulse of 6 feet swell from the west rolls in, with moderate energy (243). The wind is a gentle cross-shore from the north, keeping it relatively clean. For a beginner-friendly break like Le Porge, this swell is a bit more than ideal for learning, but it’s surfable. The period is short at 6 seconds, so it’ll be a bit weak and wind-affected, but it’s the best wave of the whole outlook.
The following morning, Wednesday the 22nd of July, also has a good 7 feet swell from the west with a light onshore wind, but it’s a touch bigger and more powerful. The energy is very strong (594) and the period is still short at 9 seconds. This is expert territory due to the size. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so keep an eye out.
Water temp at the start of the period is 72°F, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – a bit of a surprise.
So, to sum it up: don’t bother for the first week-and-a-half. The best bet is the morning of the 21st of July, with the 22nd of July for the more experienced crew. It’s a waiting game.
Rusty.
