Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's cookin' for the next couple of weeks.
It’s looking like a quiet stretch ahead for us. The first real surfable day won't show up until Sunday morning, July 5th, so we've got a bit of a lull to get through. After that, we're mostly looking at small, weak waves, and the wind is going to be a constant battle. There is a notable spike in energy around the 19th and 20th, but the wind conditions won't make it a clean session. It’s definitely not a vintage forecast window.
Let's get into it.
Seignosse - Le Penon is the only game in town. For Sunday morning, July 5th, it's about as small as it gets with waves around 2ft out of the WNW. The silver lining is a dead glassy, 3 mph north-easterly breeze. The swell energy is pretty weak (143), but that glassy surface will make it feel better than the size suggests. For a total beginner or someone on a log, that could be a fun little session.
Sunday afternoon cleans up with a north wind picking up to 9 mph, making it cross-shore and a bit bumpy. Then Monday, July 6th, sees a little improvement with east winds around 6 mph and small 2ft swell from the NW. The energy is low (66), but the wind is offshore, keeping things clean. That Monday morning window is probably your cleanest shot at something rideable all week.
As we push through the week, conditions get real ordinary. Strong onshore westerlies come in Tuesday through Thursday, July 7th to 9th, with wave heights barely cracking 2ft. It's a write-off. Friday morning, July 10th, we get another moment of calm with a glassy WNW wind, but the swell is still tiny at 2ft and weak (82). Saturday morning, July 11th, is similar—a clean 3ft from the WNW with glassy conditions from the ENE, but the energy is still unimpressive.
The next week starts with a similar pattern. The 14th and 15th of July have some glassy moments, but the swell is tiny and the combined energy is low. The real kicker arrives on the weekend of July 19th and 20th. The swell height picks up to 4ft on the Sunday morning, then 6ft Sunday afternoon from the WNW, with energy jumping to 719. The problem is the wind swings onshore from the WNW at 9 mph, making it a choppy mess.
For the morning of Monday, July 20th, the swell drops back to 5ft from the WNW, again with poor cross-shore winds. For experienced guys on a bigger board, that Sunday afternoon pulse has some grunt, but it's going to be lumpy and hard to enjoy. Not exactly a stand-out.
Honestly, if you're desperate for a paddle, the cleanest windows are the July 5th, 6th, and 11th mornings. But don't expect much more than a knee-high dribble.
Rusty out.
