Table - best surf conditions forecast for Gully's over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break it down.
We got a nice run of surf coming into Gully's, starting Sunday morning, 12 July. Water temp is a balmy 86°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – feels good on the skin.
Sunday morning kicks off with a clean 3ft SSW swell at 14 seconds. That’s groundswell, carrying some punch. Light cross-off wind from the NW keeps it tidy. Combined swell energy is moderate (451). A solid session to start.
Monday, 13 July, goes glassy all day. The swell drops a bit to 3ft but still from the SSW at 13 seconds. Perfect for the intermediate crowd. The morning is the pick – dead calm.
Tuesday, 14 July, morning glass again, with the swell back to 3ft, 14 seconds, same SSW direction. Clean, consistent. Afternoon turns a bit onshore, so hit it early.
Wednesday, 15 July, morning is glassy with a 3ft SSW swell, 13 seconds. The pattern is holding. Afternoons get stormy – morning sessions are the go.
Thursday and Friday mornings both offer glassy conditions with 3ft and 2ft SSW swells respectively. Friday is smaller but dead calm – fun little waves.
Now the standout of the first week: Monday, 20 July, morning. Clear skies, glassy, and the swell is 3ft from the SSW, but the energy jumps to 601 – moderate to strong – with a 13-second period. This is the best session in the first stretch. Don’t sleep on it.
Tuesday, 21 July, also delivers. Morning rain but light and glassy, a 3ft SW swell at a long 15 seconds. Energy is 510 – strong. Afternoon brings offshore NE wind and clean conditions – another very good window.
From Thursday, 23 July, the swell period drops a little. Thursday morning sees a 3ft SSW swell but only 8 seconds – energy drops to 188, weaker and choppier. Not the same quality. Friday, 24 July, is better: 4ft SSW swell, 9 seconds, light cross-off wind – worth a paddle.
But the true standout of the whole forecast is Monday, 27 July, morning. The swell is only 3ft from the SW, but it’s running at a very long 18 seconds. Combined energy hits 724 – strong. Glassy, clear skies. This is the best wave of the outlook. Long-period groundswell with power – perfect for a point or reef setup.
The afternoons are mostly blown out or onshore, but the mornings are gold for the whole run.
In short: Monday 20 July morning and Monday 27 July morning are your two best calls. The 20th has clean, moderate energy and good shape; the 27th brings long-period groundswell with real juice.
Stay stoked.
