Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it’s a pretty bleak stretch ahead for our shores. We’re looking at a solid run of minimal to no surf for the next 14 days. The wave energy is flat-out missing, with combined energy readings sitting at a measly single digits or zero most days. You’re not gonna find any standout sessions in this window.
The first chance of anything rideable is a tiny blip on the morning of Sunday, July 5th. At Forte dei Marmi (Pontille) , we’ve got a 0.7 ft swell from the WSW with a period of just 7 seconds. The water is 77°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. The morning is glassy, which is a plus, but the surf is just too small and weak to bother with. It’s a beginner spot, fairly consistent, but with 0.7 ft of short-period swell, it’s basically a lake.
After that, we slip straight back into a dead zone. From Monday the 6th right through to Saturday the 19th of July, the forecast is a graveyard of zeros and tiny 0.3 ft to 1 ft swells. Every single wave comment says “poor surf conditions.” The energy is weak, occasionally touching 6 or 7 (combined energy) but never enough to get excited about. The wind is often light or glassy in the mornings, but with no swell to work with, it’s just a pretty day at the beach.
Fairly consistent doesn’t mean much when there’s nothing to be consistent with. This is just a normal quiet spell for the area. Nothing to do but wait.
The only real action in the whole 16-day window arrives on the final weekend. On Sunday, July 19th, we see a tiny bump: a 2 ft to 2 ft swell from the WSW. The combined energy finally climbs to 19 (still weak). The wind is light cross-shore, so it’s messy. Then on Monday, July 20th, the morning offers a clean little window with a 1 ft SSW swell from the SW and a 6-second period, with a light cross-offshore breeze. The combined energy is 11. It’s still tiny, and it’s still for beginners only. But it’s clean, and that’s the best we’ve got.
So, if you’re dying to get wet, your best bet is the morning of Monday, July 20th, at Forte dei Marmi (Pontille) . It’s not going to be a day to remember, but it’ll be the cleanest piece of ankle-biters we’ll see.
Stay patient, gang. The ocean will wake up again.
Rusty.
