The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's cookin' for the Forte dei Marmi area.

Alright, listen. The next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat and sad overall. We've got a real gap here, so don't go getting your hopes up. There's a slim window of small stuff, but you're mostly looking at a long stretch of nothing happening.

We kick things off on Monday the 31st with a tiny 2.6ft SW swell, period of just 5 seconds. The energy is weak, only (38), and the wind is on it. Not worth paddling out. Tuesday the 1st of September has a similar small 2.6ft swell in the morning with a light cross-off wind, which at least makes it look clean, but the waves are very ordinary. The water temp is a very unusual 81.3° at Pontille, much warmer than normal for this time of year.

Then we hit a real flat spell. From Wednesday the 2nd right through to Tuesday the 8th of September, the numbers are just terrible. We're talking about ankle-snappers of 0.3ft or less, often no swell at all, and even when there's a glassy morning like on Thursday the 3rd with a clean 1ft, the energy is basically zero (3). It’s a dead zone.

We finally get a little pulse back around Wednesday the 9th of September. The morning shows a 2.6ft SW swell (39 energy), glassy, but still the conditions are labelled poor. The afternoon picks up to 3ft (70 energy), but the wind is cross-on, so it’s messy. Not a standout by any means.

The best bet in this whole forecast is the morning of Friday the 11th of September. We get a 3ft swell from the WSW with an 8-second period and a light cross-off wind from the east at 5 km/h, so it should be clean. The energy bumps up to a moderate (109). It’s still small, but if you are desperate, that's your window. The Saturday the 12th morning is similar but a little smaller at 2.3ft.

Look, for the rest of the run after that, it mostly dries up again into the middle of September. This is a proper blank run for the area. Not much to get excited about.

If I had to point you anywhere, it's Pontille on Friday morning the 11th for the cleanest, most energy we'll see. It's not big, but the wind will be right.

Short Range Forecast

Mostly dry. Warm (max 28°C on Tue afternoon, min 23°C on Mon night). Wind will be generally light.
