Alright, this is Rusty checking in with the outlook for our local stretch of coast.
Mate, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. We are in the middle of a serious flat spell. The next week and a half is going to be a write-off for any proper surfing. From now through to late next week, we're looking at tiny dribbles of swell, mostly under 1 foot with a short period, and the wave energy is basically non-existent. The combined energy reading is sitting at a measly 3 to 7 (it's basically nothing). It's pure lake conditions out there. There's a stretch from July 16th through to the start of the 19th where there's literally no swell height recorded at all.
For this kind of extended gap, the most consistent option we have is Forte dei Marmi (Pontille). The water temp is about average for this time of year, which is fine for a paddle. But honestly, it's not breaking with any power.
Things start to show a tiny pulse of life on the morning of July 19th (that's a Sunday) and into the afternoon. We get a slight bump to about 2 feet in the morning from the SW, with a period of 6 seconds wind is glassy from the SE. The wave energy ticks up to a modest 15. The afternoon tries to push to 3 feet on the same swell, but the wind swings onshore from the SW. Still, the combined energy gets to 45, which is moderate but for our protected spot it's something. It's still being called 'poor surf conditions' by the numbers, so we're talking about a very small, weak rideable wave at best. The period is short, so the waves will be soft and crumbly, and not very consistent. The main window of opportunity for a splash would be the morning of Sunday, July 19th.
Get the log out if you're desperate, but keep the high expectations at home. After that, a weak cross-offshore wind on July 20th keeps things clean but tiny. It's not worth planning a trip around.
Rusty.
