Alright, Rusty here, and it's a tough one for the folks down at Forte dei Marmi (Pontille). The next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat, with only a few tiny windows of anything rideable. If you're holding out for a proper session, you'll be waiting a long time.
For the first two weeks, from Saturday the 4th to Friday the 17th of July, it's basically a flat spell. We're talking about swell heights that are barely a bump, mostly 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft, with combined swell energy values of 2 or less—that's some of the weakest wave energy you'll see. The water's warm, about 77°F, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, but that won't help the waves. There are long gaps of days with no surf worth mentioning. The winds are often glassy or light, especially in the mornings, but with no swell to work with, it's just a flat, clean lake. On Saturday the 18th of July, there's a slight uptick, with 0.9 ft to 1 ft swell and a combined energy of 4 to 6, but it's still classified as poor surf and the winds are not ideal, being mostly onshore or cross-onshore. That's not going to get any surfer excited.
The only real hope, and I mean the only one in this whole outlook, comes on Sunday the 19th of July. The morning is the standout, with a clean, offshore wind from the NE—3 mph, glassy conditions—and a bump of 2 ft swell from the WSW with a period of 6 seconds. That combined energy hits 27, which is still weak, but it's the most energy we'll see. The break at Pontille is a beach and jetty setup, exposed to that SW swell direction which matches the optimum from the guidance. It's a beginner-friendly spot, but that small clean swell with offshore wind would actually offer the only chance for a few fun, little waves. Crowds are 'often' here, but on a day like this, it might be worth the paddle. The afternoon stays rideable but gets crossed-up with a W wind.
Honestly, for most of this period, it looks more like a kite-surfing setup when the wind picks up, because the waves are just not there for a proper paddle session. All we've got is one morning with a small, clean wave on the 19th, and after that, nothing else. This is a real flat spell for the area, so don't hold your breath.
