Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this next stretch is a tough one for surf around here. The whole 16-day window looks like a real struggle for any decent wave.
We've got a long, dry spell ahead. For the first few days, from Tuesday the 7th right through to Sunday the 20th of July, it's nothing but tiny, weak dribble. We're talking wave heights barely hitting 2 ft, and the combined energy of all the swells is just sitting in the single digits or low teens. It's flat. For almost two solid weeks, the best you'll find is a glassy but useless knee-high bump at Forte dei Marmi (Pontille). The water temp is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year at 78°, but you won't be getting wet for the surf.
Finally, there's a bit of a pulse that shows up on Monday the 21st of July. The morning brings a swell of 4 ft from the SW with a period of 8 seconds and combined energy up to 164 – that’s moderate energy. The wind is onshore though, so it's lumpy. By Tuesday the 22nd, conditions clean up nicely. The morning is glassy with a clean 4 ft SW swell still holding a period of 8 seconds and energy around 147. It's surfable. The problem is, the forecast still calls it "very ordinary conditions". This isn't a standout. It's just the least poor option in a desperate run.
Honestly, the lack of consistent swell means this blank run is more normal for the area than a surprise. We just have to wait for a better set of charts.
