The Lowdown
Alright, crew, it’s Rusty. Let’s not sugarcoat it – the ocean’s been put on standby for the next couple of weeks. We’re looking at a long, flat stretch with no good surf on the cards. If you were hoping for a score, you’re going to be disappointed.
Right off the bat, we have a big gap with no swell at all. The water temp at our first spot, Forte dei Marmi (Pontille) (Tuscany), is pushing 84°F, which is a wild 7°F warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s a serious marine heatwave, and honestly, it’s the most notable thing happening.
Going through the days, it’s grim. Wednesday afternoon sees a weak 0.7ft dribble from the S at 4 seconds, which is nothing. Thursday is completely flat. Friday has a tiny 0.7ft at 7 seconds from the WSW in the morning, but it’s still poor. The weekend offers no hope with small, weak, short-period waves. Saturday afternoon’s 0.7ft is a joke.
We then hit a completely flat spell from the 12th through the 14th, with no waves at all. Just glassy water and light breezes. The first sign of life, and I use that term loosely, comes on the 15th with a 1ft wave from the SW and an 8-second period. But it’s still weak and junky.
Sunday the 16th might be the highlight, if you can call it that. We see a 3ft swell from the WSW at 7 seconds. The energy reading is 81, which is still weak, but it’s the most push we’ll see. With a risk of thunderstorms, it’s going to be messy.
After that, it fades back to small, weak slop for the rest of the week. The 17th has some clean conditions with a light cross-offshore breeze but only 0.7ft of wave. The 19th and 20th are back to nearly flat.
There are no good surf options in this entire 16-day window. The spot is typically "fairly consistent," so this is a bit of a dry spell. Forecasts can change, but as it stands, the board’s staying in the car. The ocean’s not giving us anything to work with.
Rusty, out.
