The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's break down what we’ve got.
First thing’s first: you’re looking at a long, quiet spell. For the next nine or ten days, it’s honestly just flat or nearly flat. A few tiny bumps, but nothing worth paddling out for. Gonna be a lot of board-waxing and sitting on the beach.
Finally, there’s a little pulse around the 10th. On Thursday morning the 10th, Forte dei Marmi (Pontille) sees a small SW swell, about 3 feet with a 6-second period. It’s weak (energy around 58), but with a light ESE wind it’ll be clean enough for a paddle. Still, it’s pretty ordinary. The afternoon looks choppier with some rain, so if you’re going, make it a dawn patrol.
The stand-out session, and the only one that really grabs me, is the morning of Tuesday the 15th of September. That’s when we get a solid pulse of SW groundswell, around 4 to 5 feet with an 8-second period. The energy jumps to 231, so there’s some proper push behind it. Add in a light offshore NE wind, and you’ve got clean, fun waves. That’s your window. The direction is spot-on for the spot. The afternoon glass-off that day looks decent too, with 3 ft waves but less steam.
After that, Wednesday the 16th has some leftover waist-high stuff fading out through the day.
A bit of local knowledge: when that Tuesday’s swell hits, the water is around 81°F. That’s way warmer than average for this time of year, by more than 7°F. So trunks and a rash guard will do just fine.
Lock in that Tuesday the 15th. After all that flatness, it’ll be a proper treat.
