The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's see what Cinquale's got on the table for the next couple weeks. I'll be honest – it's a rough go. We're looking at a big dry patch right out of the gate. From now until the morning of the 17th, it's flat to tiny slop, not worth getting wet for.
There's a gap of several days with nothing to ride. The first real flicker of hope hits early Friday morning, September the 18th. We get a WSW swell pushing 6ft, with a period of 7 seconds out of the SW. The combined energy is moderate at 419, so it's got some grunt. That morning it's glassy with an E wind at 3 mph – clean as a whistle. Water temp is 80° with a huge anomaly of 5° warmer than normal – that is *very* unusual, feels like a bathtub.
Cinquale's an advanced spot, inconsistent, exposed to SW swell – and that's exactly what we're getting. At 6ft it's not huge, but it'll have some push. The wind is glassy and offshore NE, so expect clean, lined-up waves. That Friday morning window is the one true standout here.
After that, it drops off quick. Friday afternoon turns onshore and sloppy, and the rest of the outlook is pretty much a desert. A few tiny signs on the 25th and 26th – 0.3ft to 0.7ft swells from the S, period stretching to 8 seconds, but the energy is weak (single digit numbers) – barely a bump. Some of those mornings are glassy but there's just no power. A couple days at the end of September could have a clean offshore breeze, but still no swell to surf.
The long-range stuff is just a tease. On the 30th of September, we get a NNE offshore at 9 mph with a tiny 0.3ft S swell – not enough to even think about paddling out. So for the whole 16-day run, the only real chance to get a wave is first light on Friday the 18th. Make it count, because after that, it's a waiting game.
Signing off,
Rusty
