The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s cut to it—this stretch is looking flat as a tack for the most part. If you’re chasing waves, you’re in for a long wait. The next week and a half is mostly a dead loss, with barely a bump showing across the full 16 days. There’s a tiny pulse around the 17th, but nothing worth paddling for, and then it fades right back to nothing. It’s one of those quiet spells where the ocean’s just taking a breather. Still, this spot’s fairly consistent, so it usually doesn’t stay this poor for long. Forecasts can change, so don’t give up hope.
Walking through it: from now until the 16th, we’re looking at tiny, messy swell—nothing over 1ft, most of it under 1ft. Mornings are often offshore and clean, but there’s just no power. The combined energy is in the single digits, basically flat. Water temp’s about normal for the time of year.
The only little blip is the morning of the 17th at Chiavari Entella (Liguria). We’ve got a 2ft southwest swell with a 4-second period—short-period, weak, only 12 units of energy. It’s clean with an east cross-off, but this is ankle-biters only. The afternoon bumps to 3ft, but the wind goes cross-onshore and it gets messy. Not worth your time.
Now the one to watch—Tuesday morning, the 18th. Swell jumps to 6ft from the southwest with an 8-second period, and energy hits 401 units. That’s the most push of the whole window. Light east cross-off wind should keep it clean. This is your window. It’s not huge, but after all this flatness, it’s the only real option. The afternoon drops to 4ft and turns cross-onshore, so get out early.
After that, it’s back to flat. Wednesday the 19th and beyond just dribble along with tiny, weak swells and light winds. Nothing else worth mentioning.
Bottom line: if you’re keen, hit Tuesday morning the 18th—that’s your best and only real bet. Otherwise, hang up the board, grab a coffee, and wait for the ocean to wake up. This spot can fire, so don’t count it out.
Rusty.
