The Lowdown
Right, folks, Rusty here. Let's take a proper look at what the next couple of weeks are serving up around the Chiavari Entella region.
Honestly, looking at the whole 16-day window, it's a tough one. We're staring down a long, dry spell with barely a ripple for the first week. The first real sign of life doesn't show up until Tuesday the 18th of August, and even then, it's nothing to write home about. There are no true standouts here, just a few mornings that might be worth a paddle if you're desperate.
The first week is essentially a write-off. From now right through to the end of the weekend on the 17th, the energy levels are flat – we're looking at zeros across the board for combined swell energy. The river mouth at Chiavari Entella is seeing plenty of glassy mornings, which is cruel because there's simply no swell to push through. It's a waiting game.
Things finally change on the morning of Tuesday the 18th. We get a pulse of SSW groundswell pushing in at 4ft with a 7-second period. The combined energy jumps to a moderate 123, so there's some actual push. A NE offshore breeze at 9 mph will keep things clean. It's still a fairly consistent spot and exposed to the SW, so it'll pick up that energy, but the waves are likely to be a bit ordinary. This is for the more seasoned crew, as 4ft is pushing it for beginners.
The next morning, Wednesday the 19th, offers a similar story. A clean morning with offshore winds from the NE and a 3ft SSW swell (88 energy). It's surfable, but again, very ordinary. The following morning, Thursday the 20th, is probably the best of a bad bunch. We see a 4ft SW swell with an 8-second period, pushing the combined energy to a moderate 147. The wind is a glassy offshore from the ENE. It's clean, but the swell quality is nothing special. After that, it fades back into small, choppy junk for the rest of the period.
Given the consistent lack of quality and the fairly consistent nature of the break, it's the kind of blank run that can happen. The forecasts can change, but for now, keep your board in the bag.
Rusty.
