The Lowdown
Alright lads, Rusty here.
Let’s cut to the chase: the next 16 days are a total desert for any real waves around the Chiavari Entella (Italy) rivermouth. It’s a rough patch, and I won’t sugar-coat it. For a spot that usually fires up fairly often, this is a proper dry spell that’ll try your soul. From Thursday morning, September 3rd right through to Wednesday, September 16th, it’s all tiny dribbles, flat spells, and zero energy. Don’t bother.
The only, and I mean *only*, flicker of life comes right at the end. On Thursday morning, September 17th, there’s a tiny little bump of 1ft from the SW with an 8-second period. The combined energy is a pathetic 12 – basically a flat bath. The morning is clean with a light offshore breeze, so if you’re on a log and truly desperate, you might find a knee-high lump to push around. But it’s still poor surfing.
The water’s like a warm bath at 81° at the start, much warmer than normal for this time of year. That’s the only nice thing I can say.
Look, if you’re not a total beginner, this whole window is a no-go. Even for the groms, the swell is so pathetic (mostly ankle-snappers under 8 seconds) that there’s nothing to ride. The gap from the afternoon of the 4th to the morning of the 17th is nearly two weeks of flatness. It’s one of those times where you just leave the wax at home and take a swim.
Save your energy. This forecast is a dead loss.
Rusty.
