The Lowdown
Alright, surfers, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Frankly, it’s a pretty bleak stretch for the Chiavari Entella river mouth. If you’re looking for a wave to ride, you’re going to be doing a lot of waiting. The water is a warm 83°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s about the only thing that’s pumping.
The first recommendation doesn’t show up until the morning of Saturday, 19th July. We get a tiny bump of swell, only 3 ft from the SSW with a short period of 6 seconds. The combined energy is a weak 67, so it’s barely any power. The wind is light and cross-offshore from the North though, which keeps the surface clean. It’s surfable, but very ordinary. The swell is too small and weak to get excited about. After that, Sunday afternoon turns onshore and messy.
Then we hit a long dry spell. From Monday, 21st July right through to Wednesday, 30th July, it’s a total flat spell. Days and days of zero surf. You’d be better off swimming or just enjoying the clean, glassy conditions on the water – there’s nothing for a board to catch.
The only real glimmer comes on Saturday, 26th July, but it’s not a classic. The morning sees a tiny 0.7 ft SSW swell with a 4-second period, barely a ripple. The combined energy is just 2. The wind is light offshore from the NE though, so it’ll be glassy and clean. This is for absolute beginners with a longboard on a foamie, and even then it’s a struggle. The spot is fairly consistent, but with such small waves, you’re relying on the odd micro-swell.
No standouts here, folks. This whole forecast is a washout. The best bet is the Saturday 19th July morning for the cleanest conditions, but don’t expect a ride. Signing off, Rusty.
