The Lowdown
Alright, I’m looking at this stretch of water here, the Chiavari Entella river mouth. To be straight with you, this 16-day outlook is a lean one. We’ve got a lot of flat days and a whole lot of "poor surf conditions" staring back at us. The first several days are pretty much a write-off, with tiny, weak swell and onshore junk only good for a paddle.
The only real window of hope, the standout in a pretty bleak picture, is the morning of Saturday, August 29th. We get a jump in energy with a combined swell energy reading of 297 (moderate energy), a 5ft SW groundswell rolling in with an 8-second period. The wind is a clean light breeze from the east, giving us cross-offshore conditions. That’ll hold the wave face open and make for some fun, clean shapes. The river mouth itself is fairly exposed to this SW, so it should be working. This is the best of the lot, no question.
Before that, Friday morning August 28th gives us 2ft of SSE swell with a clean offshore wind from the NE. It’s small, but with that clean breeze and energy at 21, it’s worth a quick look if you're desperate for a slide.
After that Saturday morning, the drop-off is instant. The afternoon turns onshore and messy. From Sunday August 30th onward, it’s back to tiny, weak pulses with poor wind, and long gaps of nothing. Thursday morning September 3rd through to the end of the forecast is mostly a bust, with very occasional clean but tiny windows (like Friday morning September 4th with 2ft SW and a light offshore), but nothing that will get your heart racing.
For the beginners out there, that 5ft Saturday morning is fine. It’s not too big, and the river mouth setup keeps things gentle. Anyone looking for a real grinder on a bigger day won’t find it here.
