The Lowdown
Alright mates, Rusty here. Let’s get into what we’ve got for the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, it’s a long, dry spell. The first few days are a total bust – tiny, weak waves and poor conditions. The only window that even looks like a surf is the morning of Sunday the 19th, and even that’s small.
The best, and really the only, call is for Chiavari Entella (Liguria) on the morning of Sunday, 19th July. We’ll see a little bump from the SW, coming in around 3ft. It’s a short period swell, only 7 seconds, so it won’t have much grunt, but the wind will be a clean offshore from the NNE at 6 mph. That’ll keep the surface glassy. The combined energy is only 77 (weak), so don’t expect much power. It’s a river break, fairly consistent, and it’s a beginner-friendly spot, so grab the longboard. The water is sitting at 81°, which is *much warmer than normal* for this time of year – over 7° above average, which is very unusual.
After that Sunday morning window, it’s back to glass. The swell drops off in the afternoon and stays flat. From Monday the 20th all the way through to Tuesday the 28th, we’re looking at days of no swell or tiny, unrideable dribble. That’s a gap of over a week with nothing to recommend.
So, to sum it up: one small, clean window on the morning of the 19th, and then a whole lot of nothing. Not the best run for the area, but it happens. Keep an eye on it, forecasts can change.
Rusty.
