Table - best surf conditions forecast for Cala Cipolla over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Gotta give it to you straight for Cala Cipolla. It’s a real quiet stretch ahead. Water temp is 26°, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year, so it’s nice for a swim, but for surfing? Barely a thing happening for days.
This Monday the 13th morning, we’ve got a tiny 2-foot easterly swell, but with a weak 4-second period and cross wind. Combined energy is just 14, so it’s a poor setup, no question. That small, short-period swell lingers into Tuesday the 14th, dropping to 2 feet from the SE by the afternoon, with the combined energy falling to just 8. It’s all poor conditions with cross or onshore breezes.
Wednesday the 15th brings a west-southwest swell at only 0.7 feet, with a 5-second period, and combined energy down to 2 or 3. That’s barely a wrinkle on the water. This is less surf and more of a flat spell with wind ripples.
From Thursday the 16th all the way through to Sunday the 26th of July, the data shows absolute flatness – zeros across the board for combined energy. That’s a solid ten-day stretch with no surf to speak of. Nothing to recommend, not even for a log. The wind does go glassy or offshore at times – Friday the 17th morning is glassy, and Sunday the 19th morning is glassy too – but with zero swell, all you get is a mirror.
Right at the end, there’s a whisper of life. On Thursday the 23rd afternoon, a 1-foot west-southwest swell shows up, period of just 2 seconds, combined energy of 1. That’s a wobbly, weak signal, and with a moderate cross-shore chop, it’s still poor. On Sunday the 26th afternoon, a 1-foot SE swell with a 3-second period and combined energy of 2 appears, but again, cross-shore wind and chop. That pattern of tiny, poor surf continues into Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th.
Bottom line: Cala Cipolla is locked into a long flat spell. There is no surf worth paddling out for in this 16-day window. It’s a pond out there. If you want to get wet, grab a mask and fins. Otherwise, sit this one out.
Rusty.
