The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get into it.
First up, the overall picture: We’ve got a solid run of small but clean South-Southwest swell hitting Cabo Blanco, mostly in the mornings. The real standout is the coming Saturday morning, the 18th of July, with glassy conditions and a clean 4ft of SSW groundswell carrying moderate energy (509). That’s your pick of the week – a session that’ll feel like a reward.
Water temp is sitting at 86.5°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, so you won’t need a wetsuit.
Tuesday 14th July – Morning starts off glassy with a clean 3.6ft of SSW swell, 14-second period, and combined energy of 469. That’s a lovely, punchy groundswell. The afternoon turns onshore and messy, so get in early.
Wednesday 15th July – Another glassy morning, same sort of 3.6ft SSW swell, 14-second period, and energy at 482. Solid little waves. Wind stays light and clean. Afternoon gets stormy, so again, morning is the move.
Thursday 16th July – Thursday morning repeats the pattern: glassy, 3.6ft SSW, 13-second period, energy 450. It’s a consistent run of clean dawn sessions.
Friday 17th July – Friday morning, flat calm, 3.6ft of SSW swell, 12-second period (a bit shorter), energy 376. Still a fun little wave. Afternoon has a chance of a bump in height to 3.9ft but the wind turns onshore, so it’s a morning-only call.
Saturday 18th July – This is the one. Saturday morning: glassy, clean, 3.9ft of SSW swell, 13-second period, combined energy 509. This is the best of the whole forecast. The water is flat calm, the waves are punchy, and the crowd factor is “sometimes” – so you might find a few others out, but it’s worth it.
Sunday 19th July – Sunday morning, the swell drops to 3.3ft, 12-second period, energy 436, with a light cross-shore wind. It’s still surfable but not as clean. The afternoon gets choppy.
Monday 20th July – Monday morning, glassy again, but the swell is down to 3.0ft, 12-second period, energy 412. Small but clean.
Tuesday 21st July – Tuesday morning, the swell drops further to 2.0ft, but the period is 14 seconds, energy 359. Very small, but glassy and clean – a longboard day.
Wednesday 22nd July – Wednesday morning, 3.0ft of SSW swell, 11-second period, energy 293. Glassy again. The swell is weakening.
Thursday 23rd July – Thursday morning, 2.3ft of SSW, 11-second period, energy 208. Very small, but glassy. Afternoon shows a sudden 3.3ft spike from the south but with a short 7-second period and onshore wind – not worth it.
Friday 24th July – Friday morning, the swell picks up a bit to 4.3ft of SSW, but the period is a short 8 seconds, so it’s a bit weak and lumpy. The wind is cross-offshore, so it’s clean, but not the best shape. Energy 411.
Saturday 25th July – Saturday morning, a weird one: 2.0ft of SSW swell but with a very long 21-second period and strong cross-offshore wind at 12 mph. The combined energy jumps to 587, which is significant, but that long period groundswell at a beach break will likely be too straight and hard to catch. The afternoon looks better – 3.6ft of SSW, 9-second period, with clean offshore wind from the NE, energy 358. That afternoon session could surprise you.
Sunday 26th July – Sunday morning, only 2.0ft of SW swell, but the period is a long 19 seconds, energy 546. The wind is glassy. This is a delicate, long-period groundswell – best on a point or reef, but if you’re patient, you might get a few clean ones.
Monday 27th July – Monday morning, 2.6ft of SW swell, 18-second period, energy 675. Glassy. That’s a lot of energy for the size – these are long, powerful lines. You’ll want to be at a point break or reef.
Tuesday 28th July – Tuesday morning, the swell switches to a 3.3ft south swell, 13-second period, energy 683. Glassy. This is a solid, clean groundswell. Very promising.
Wednesday 29th July – Wednesday morning, 3.0ft of SW swell, 16-second period, energy 607. Glass
