The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty. Let's have a look at what's coming up for Caballeros.
Honestly, the next week and a half are looking pretty flat and messy. We’ve got a long stretch here with nothing really worth paddling out for. From Wednesday the 19th all the way through to the morning of Thursday the 27th, the swell is just too small and weak, with the combined energy barely getting into the hundreds and the wind is a persistent cross-on. It's a quiet spell, so don't expect much.
Now, things start to look a bit more interesting right at the very end of the month and into September. The first real standout shows up on Friday the 28th of August. The morning session is looking the best of the whole run. We’ve got a solid 6ft swell coming from the SW, with a period of 17 seconds. That’s a nice, long groundswell, and with the wind blowing onshore from the WSW at only 6 mph, it should keep things pretty clean. The combined energy is a strong 1976 (moderate to strong). It’s a reef break that's fairly consistent and exposed to that SW swell, so it should be handling that energy well. The afternoon builds a bit to 7ft, still with that long 16-second period, and the wind stays light and onshore. It's a promising window, but being a week and a half out, don't lock it in just yet.
Saturday the 29th holds similar size, with 8ft in the morning from the SW and a 14-second period. The wind is a light cross-on from the SSW, so it won't be perfect, but the energy is still very strong (2229). This is still good, solid surf.
After that, it starts to ease back down. The morning of Thursday the 3rd of September shows a pulse of 5ft from the SW with a very long 17-second period and a combined energy of 1315, but it's a cross-on breeze again.
Overall, if you can wait, the last few days of August are your best bet for some proper groundswell. The rest of the period is a write-off. Hang tight.
Rusty.
