Table - best surf conditions forecast for Blokken over the next 16 days.
G’day, I’m Rusty. Let’s get into it.
Right off the top, we’re looking at a pretty grim stretch for Blokken. The next week and a half is mostly a write-off, with a big gap of poor conditions. The water is sitting at 68°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year—you’ll feel that difference straight away, almost like a late-summer hangover in July.
The first real glimmer comes on the morning of Monday, 20th July. It’s not much, but there’s a tiny 3ft swell from the NNW, period around 6 seconds, with light cross-offshore winds. The energy is weak at 56 and the wave comment says “surfable but very ordinary.” Honestly, it’s barely a paddle, but it’s the first clean-looking window in over a week, so if you’re itching, you’d take it.
The real standout, the only one worth setting your alarm for, is the morning of Friday, 24th July. That’s the one. Swell jumps to 8ft from the W, period 7 seconds, and the combined energy is a solid 539—moderate, pushing strong. The wind is light and offshore from the NNW, so it’ll be glassy and clean. Now, that size is getting into expert territory; over 8ft and it’s specialists only, but 8ft is still doable for strong intermediates. The swell direction matches the ideal NNW exposure perfectly. Blokken is inconsistent, so a morning like this doesn’t come often. No crowds data to say for sure, but with a rare score like that, expect a few locals to sniff it out.
After that, the afternoon turns a bit cross-on and the swell drops to 6ft, still decent but not the same magic. The rest of the 16 days? Dead. Gap after gap. Nothing worth chasing.
Overall, it’s a long wait for one morning of promise. If you’re keen, pencil in that Friday 24th July morning and hope the forecast holds.
Rusty.
