Table - best surf conditions forecast for Batts Rock over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, it's your old mate Rusty here. Grab a seat, because we’ve got a long, dry spell to talk about for this stretch.
Look, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. The next 16 days are looking like a proper desert for waves around Batts Rock. We’re talking about a run of nothing but tiny slop and clean, empty lineups. For the entire outlook, the biggest swell we see is a measly 1ft, and most of the time it’s even smaller. The wind is blowing offshore pretty much all day every day, which would be a dream if there was any swell to work with, but there just isn't.
Starting right now, Tuesday the 7th of July, and running all the way through to the 9th, there is literally zero wave energy. Then from the 10th into the 11th, we get a pulse of 0.3ft, 14-second period groundswell from the north, but the combined energy is pitifully low (4). The water temp is 83°, which is bang on average for this time of year, so at least you can have a nice float.
Sunday the 12th is the closest we get to a highlight. We see a slight bump to 0.7ft from the north, with a 12-second period, and the energy edges up to a weak moderate 22. The wind is a moderate offshore breeze, so the surface would be like glass. It’s still tiny, but if you’re a longboarder or just want to get wet, that’s your session. After that, it’s back to the same story: nothing but 0.3ft to 0.7ft dribble right through to Monday the 22nd of July.
Batts Rock is an inconsistent point break anyway, so this kind of blank run is a bit more normal around here. The outlook is dead quiet. There’s no standout day, no swell to get excited about. If the wind keeps up, this setup would be way more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer right now, but for us wave hunters? It’s a waiting game.
Keep an eye on the charts, because it tends not to stay this flat for long. But for now, I'd say dust off the gear, do a wax job, and wait for the next real groundswell to show up.
Stay salty,
Rusty
