Alright, I’m lookin’ at the entire 16-day window for Andicuri, and I gotta tell ya, it’s a tough run. There’s really no day in this stretch that I’d call rideable for a surfer. The swell’s there, no doubt, but the wind is just relentless.
Right from the start, Sunday July 5th, we’ve got a 6ft swell coming out of the east with a short, weak period of 8 seconds. The combined energy is sitting at a moderate 367, but the wind is a nasty cross-on from the east at 22 mph. That’s a fresh breeze, and it’s making everything lumpy and messy. Not worth paddling out.
That same pattern just digs in deeper. Monday July 6th, the swell jumps to 8ft, still east, still 8 seconds. The energy climbs to 604, but the wind cranks up to 25–31 mph, strong cross-shore and cross-onshore. It’s blown out, cross-chop everywhere. This is not surfable.
Tuesday July 7th through Thursday July 10th, the swell holds around 8ft to 10ft, with energy readings going from 860 all the way up to a very strong 1407. That’s a lot of water moving. But the east wind stays strong, 28–31 mph, and it’s either cross or cross-on. The wave comment is “poor surf conditions” for every single session. It’s just a washing machine.
Friday July 11th and Saturday July 12th don’t let up. Still 8ft, still east, period barely hitting 9 seconds. The wind hasn’t backed off. By Sunday July 13th, we drop a little to 7ft, but the wind is still a strong breeze with cross-chop. No relief.
The second week looks the same. From July 14th all the way through July 20th, the swell size comes and goes between 6ft and 10ft, but it’s always east or east-northeast, and the period is short—7 to 8 seconds, maybe 9 at best. The wind never lets up. It’s a consistent 25–31 mph easterly, cross or cross-on, with the occasional “near gale” label. The combined energy stays strong to very strong—over 900 on some days—but with that wind, it’s completely blown out and messy.
Andicuri is an exposed spot, and it’s very consistent at picking up swell, but with this wind regime, there’s just no window of clean surf. None of these days offer a break from the easterly hammering. If you’re a kite surfer, this setup might look interesting with all that wind and solid swell, but for paddle surfing, it’s a hard pass.
Water temp is 81°F, which is about average for this time of year, so at least you’d be warm if you did go out. But honestly, don’t bother. This is one of those stretches where the ocean is angry and the wind won’t shut up. Hang tight, check back in a few days—forecasts change.
