The Lowdown

Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you. For the next couple of weeks, it’s a tough go. We've got a dead run from now until around the 14th of August, with mostly tiny, weak swell and crummy cross-onshore winds. Not much point in talking it up.

The first flicker of hope comes on Friday morning, August 14th. A NE swell rolls in at 1.3m, period of 8 seconds. The combined swell energy is moderate at 210, so it has some push. The wind is light out of the NE, onshore, so it won't be clean, but it’s light enough to keep it from being a total mess. For Palma Sola (beach and breakwater), a fairly consistent beginner break, this is a marginal call at best.

We get another chance around Sunday morning, August 16th. The swell is still 1.3m, but the period bumps up to 9 seconds, so it has a bit more shape and power. The combined energy hits 240. The wind is still NE at 10 km/h, still onshore. This is the best the forecast offers, but it’s still just okay, not great. The persistent onshore flow keeps the surface bumpy. For a beginner break, the size is fine, but the conditions won't make it easy. This whole window is one to watch for a potential good session if the wind lays down, but as it stands, it’s a tough stretch. The later opportunities on the 18th are similar in size but come with the same wind issues. Not the best few weeks for a paddle.

Short Range Forecast

Light rain (total 5mm), mostly falling on Wed night. Warm (max 30°C on Wed morning, min 25°C on Wed night). Wind will be generally light.

Days 4-6 Weather Summary

Moderate rain (total 13mm), heaviest on Sat night. Warm (max 30°C on Sun morning, min 25°C on Sat night). Wind will be generally light.
