Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Right, if you're looking at the Black Sea today, the forecast is a total blank. Vama Veche isn't giving us a single wave worth paddling for across the entire 16-day window. The combined energy of all swells directed here is a flat zero (0) the whole time, so there's literally nothing to ride. That's a long stretch of nothing.
We’ve got a solid run of cross-onshore winds and moderate breezes through the first week, with a few cleaner days on the 22nd and 23rd of July when the wind swings cross-off, but without any swell, it’s just a flat, clean lake. The water temp is about 74°, which is pretty normal for this time of year, so at least a swim wouldn't be cold.
The second week, from the 27th of July into August, keeps up the same story. There’s a glassy morning on the 27th and a light offshore on the 28th, but it’s all for nothing with no swell. The setup is a beach break that’s exposed to the east, but with nothing coming from that direction, it’s a dead loss. Honestly, this looks more like a windsurfing or kiting spot than a surf spot right now. For a paddle surfer, there’s just nothing to get excited about. A blank run like this is not unusual for this area, but it doesn’t make it any less frustrating. Forecasts can change, but right now, leave the board at home.
