The Lowdown
Alright, let's talk about the next couple of weeks. It's looking flat and quiet for the most part, so don't hold your breath. There are one or two moments where it might get interesting, but it’s a lean stretch. Let’s break it down.
For the first week, starting Saturday the 12th through to Friday the 18th, the surf is basically a no-go. Tiny swell, poor conditions, and mostly onshore or cross-onshore breezes. The water temp is sitting at 86°F at Tel Baruch South Beach, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – that’s a solid 4°F above average, so you’ll be sweating in your wetsuit rather than shivering.
Now, there’s a flicker on Wednesday the 16th morning. We get a glassy window with a tiny 3ft swell from the WNW, period around 7 seconds, and combined energy of 81 – weak, but it’s the cleanest we’ve seen. It’s surfable but very ordinary. That’s the highlight of the entire first week, and it’s a small one. Not worth a special trip unless you’re desperate. That same day afternoon gets chopped up again.
Thursday the 17th morning again goes glassy, but the swell drops to 2ft and the energy is only 40. Nothing exciting. Friday the 18th morning is also glassy with 2ft and energy 40. The periods are short on all these, so it’s weak windswell, not proper groundswell.
Saturday the 19th to Thursday the 24th stays pretty grim. Swell sizes hover around 0.6ft to 3ft, mostly poor surf conditions, and the winds are either onshore or cross. Energy numbers are low, generally in the single digits to teens. There’s a bit of a pickup on Tuesday the 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd, with 3ft and 3ft swell, but the conditions are still poor, and the winds are cross-on or onshore.
The best chance in the entire 16-day window comes on Sunday the 27th morning. We get a 5ft swell from the WNW with an 8-second period, combined energy of 232 – that’s moderate energy, the strongest in the period. And it’s glassy in the morning. That’s your standout. At 5ft, it’s not huge, but it’s the best we’ve got. Perfect for a patient surfer on a longboard or funboard. The water will still be very warm.
After that, Sunday afternoon goes back to onshore and choppy, so you want the early session.
There is a big gap of nearly two weeks with no real recommendations. So for the most part, you’re better off doing something else. The consistency is very low, but forecasts can change. For now, circle Sunday the 27th morning on the calendar. That’s your one decent shot.
