The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you. We've got a 16-day window for Tel Baruch South Beach, and frankly, it's a tough one. The charts are showing a long stretch of nothing to get excited about. The only break on the radar is this one, and it's not looking like it's gonna deliver the goods.
Right now, the pattern is flat and disappointing. The first couple of days, the 24th and 25th of July, are a write-off – poor conditions with a moderate cross-shore breeze at 12 mph and a choppy mess. The swell is weak, with a combined energy of only 80 (weak energy) on the 24th, and the water is sitting at a toasty 84°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year. It's not what you want to hear.
A little flicker of hope appears on the morning of the 28th of July. The wind goes glassy, dead calm, and the swell is a tiny 2 ft from the WNW with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy is a measly 47 (weak energy), but that glassy surface is a major positive. It’ll be clean, but you’ll be scratching for anything rideable. It’s a beginner's wave at best, so if you’re learning, you might get a few close-outs.
The 31st of July morning is similar, with another glassy session and a 2 ft swell, but again, the energy is just 49 (weak energy). The same story repeats on the 2nd of August and the 5th of August – glassy mornings with tiny, weak swell. These are the only real standouts in the whole period, and that’s a stretch.
The rest of the time is a blur of onshore winds, cross-shore chop, and flat spells. There are big gaps from the 24th through to the 27th, and then again from the 1st of August through to the 6th, where the surf is just not worth paddling out for. The swell direction is all WNW, but the period is short, mostly between 5 and 9 seconds, so there's no real punch.
The best of a bad situation is the morning of the 28th of July or the 31st of July. Clean, glassy conditions, but the swell is tiny. If you’re a beginner and want to get wet, that’s your window. For everyone else, it’s a long wait for something that isn't coming.
Rusty.
