The Lowdown
Alright, I’m Rusty, and I’ve been over the charts for this stretch. I gotta be honest, it’s looking pretty bleak. There’s no real surf to get excited about for the whole 16-day window. The waves are tiny, the power is non-existent, and there’s no standout session.
We’re looking at Tel Baruch South Beach, and it’s pretty much all we’ve got. On Tuesday, August 11th, the morning has a tiny 2 ft swell out of the northwest, with a short 6-second period. The wind is a light cross-on from the north at 6 mph, and the combined energy is a whisper at 19. The water is sitting at a warm 85°F, which is a touch warmer than normal. The afternoon gets choppy with a moderate cross-onshore, so no good.
That’s pretty much the story for the next stretch. We see a few glassy mornings, like on Wednesday, August 12th, with a light SW breeze, but the swell is still just 2 ft and weak. You’d be struggling for a waist-high dribble.
The best of a bad lot might be Sunday, August 16th, when the morning swell nudges up to 3 ft with an 8-second period. The wind is a light cross-on from the WSW at 3 mph, so it’s clean. The combined energy hits 76, which is still very weak. It’s a small, weak wave at a fairly exposed beach, so it’s strictly for longboarders or beginners. This break is rated for beginners and is fairly consistent, but the quality is just not there.
After that, we drop back into a long run of even smaller days, with swells as small as 1 ft and periods down to 5 seconds. The combined energy drops into the teens. A glassy morning on Sunday, August 23rd, with a 2 ft swell, but no power. It stays poor through to Wednesday, August 26th. The whole 16-day run is a blank. With the small onshore winds, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
I wouldn’t rush out for this one. It’s a tough stretch.
