The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s shaking on the Tel Aviv coast.
Honestly, mate, it’s a quiet stretch ahead. The first few days are a bit of a write-off with tiny, weak waves and not much energy behind them. The combined swell energy is low, mostly in the single digits or teens early on, so don’t expect much push. We’ve got a long gap of pretty poor surf from now until the end of August, with only tiny waist-high slop at best. The wind gets a bit messy and onshore most afternoons, which won’t help.
The first glimmer of something better shows up on Wednesday morning, September 2nd. Tel Baruch South Beach (Tel Baruch South Beach) finally sees a jump in combined energy to 120 (moderate), with a 3ft swell from the WNW, period around 8 seconds. That’s a slight step up, but it’s still a beach break, so it might be a bit crumbly. The morning wind is light and cross-shore from the SSW, so it could be rideable for a beginner-friendly session. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, around 86°F.
The best of the whole run, such as it is, comes on Friday morning, September 4th. The swell drops back to 3ft from the WNW, but the real treat is the glassy conditions. The wind goes dead calm from the WSW, which is perfect for a clean, smooth surface. The swell period is 8 seconds, and combined energy is 64 (still weak though). It’s small, but that morning window will be the cleanest you’ll find. For a learner, that’s a solid option. The break is fairly consistent, so you won’t be waiting forever for a set.
Overall, it’s a flat spell with one or two mornings that might just be worth a paddle. Don’t get your hopes up for anything big, but if you’re keen, September 4th morning is your best bet.
Rusty.
