Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s in store for Tel Baruch South Beach over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – this stretch is looking pretty flat and uninspiring. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with no real swell to get excited about. The whole 16-day window is basically one big gap of poor-quality surf. From Tuesday the 7th of July right through to Wednesday the 22nd of July, the waves are tiny, weak, and messy. There aren't any standout sessions or even a fun little bump to chase.
The water temperature is sitting at a warm 82°, and it's about a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, which is nice for a paddle, but that’s about the only good news.
On Tuesday morning the 7th, we’ve got a tiny 1-foot swell coming from the WNW with a short period of 8 seconds. The combined wave energy is only 116, which is weak. Wind is cross-onshore from the WSW at 9 mph, so it’s choppy and poor. That theme just keeps rolling day after day – the swell never gets above 4 feet, and that's only on Wednesday afternoon the 8th, but with a 7-second period and a cross-onshore wind at 16 mph, it’s going to be a complete mess.
Through the rest of the first week and into the second, the swell drops off even more. By Saturday the 11th, we’re down to 2 feet to 2 feet, and the combined energy is barely registering, in the 20s and 30s. Most mornings have light winds, but the swell is just too small and weak to hold up.
Into the second week, from Monday the 13th onward, we’re stuck with 1 feet to 3 feet swells, all from the WNW with periods of 6 to 8 seconds. The wind is mostly cross-on or onshore, keeping the surface bumpy. There’s no day where it all lines up. This break is a fairly exposed beach, but with no swell and poor winds, it’s a no-go.
Look, with no decent swell and persistent choppy conditions, this setup is honestly more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. For us wave riders, it’s a long, flat blank run. This area can have quiet spells like this, so it’s not unusual, but it’s disappointing. Forecasts can change, but right now there’s nothing to recommend.
Rusty.
