The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. We’re looking at a pretty bleak stretch ahead for Tel Baruch South Beach. Honestly, the next two weeks are a write-off for anything decent. There’s a long gap of nothing worthwhile right from the start, all the way through to the morning of Monday, July 27th. That’s about six days of junk.
The only time that even looks like it might be worth paddling out is the morning of Monday, July 27th. Swell is tiny, just 3ft from the WNW, but the wind goes totally glassy – calm – and the water will be glassy clean. The combined wave energy is weak (85). It’s not going to be any kind of classic, just surfable waves but very ordinary conditions. For a beginner-friendly break that’s fairly consistent, this is the only window where you won’t be fighting a mess. The water temperature is about average for this time of year.
The rest of the run is a total loss. The wind is almost always onshore or cross-onshore, mostly from the WNW or NW, with speeds often around 12 mph, making it choppy and blown out. The swell is small, under 3ft, with short periods around 5 to 8 seconds. The combined energy stays low, mostly in the 10 to 50 range, showing just how weak it all is. Even the morning of Saturday, August 1st, which shows a tiny bump in energy to 128, still has poor surf conditions and a strong onshore wind.
Honestly, if you’re desperate for a paddle, the Monday the 27th is your only hope. Otherwise, save your energy. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a flat, choppy wait.
Rusty.
