Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a proper look at what the next couple of weeks are serving up for us.
Alright, let’s be straight with you. This is one of those outlooks where you might want to leave the boards in the car for a bit, or at least keep your expectations real low. We are looking at a long stretch of “poor surf conditions” across the entire 16-day period. Honestly, there isn't a single standout session in the whole forecast. The swell is small and weak, the wind is on it or cross-onshore most of the time, and it’s just not gonna be clean.
We’re starting off on Thursday, July 2nd, and right through to the end of the period on Thursday, July 17th, every single record is flagged as poor. That’s a solid two-week gap with nothing to get excited about.
Let’s talk about Tel Baruch South Beach. The water temperature is reading 81° which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, about 3°F above the long-term average. So, it’s warm out there, but the surf just isn't cooperating.
Thursday afternoon the 2nd sees a tiny 2 ft NW swell with a short 6-second period. The combined energy is a weak 32, and we’ve got a 12 mph onshore wind from the WNW. That’s just messy. Friday the 3rd is similar, with a 2 ft to 3 ft swell and mostly cross-onshore breeze. It’s choppy and ugly.
We get a little bump over the weekend, July 4th and 5th, with the swell hitting about 3 ft to 4 ft from the WNW, with a period of 7 seconds. The combined energy climbs to a moderate 124 and 111 in the afternoons, but the wind is still cross-onshore or cross, keeping everything chopped up. The morning of the 5th has a clean-looking cross-shore wind, but the wave comment is poor.
The pattern just keeps repeating. We see a similar story all the way through the following week. The 8th of July has the highest energy we'll see, hitting 183 on Wednesday afternoon with a 4 ft swell, but it’s still a cross-onshore wind making it choppy. By July 11th and 12th, the swell drops right back down to under 3 ft with energy in the 20s and 50s.
For the second week, from July 10th onward, the swell stays weak (2 ft to 3 ft) with short periods of 6 to 8 seconds. There are a few moments of lighter wind, like a light breeze on the 11th and 14th, but the onshore direction and weak energy mean it’s just not going to shape up.
So here’s the hard truth: there's nothing to highlight as a best option. If you are absolutely desperate, maybe the early morning of July 15th or 16th might offer a tiny, weak window with lighter wind, but don't hold your breath. For this beach, this kind of a long, flat-to-poor run is just the way it goes sometimes. Keep an eye on the charts, things can change. I’ve got nothing else for you.
Rusty.
