Alright, let me tell ya, it's been a bit of a flat spell around here. Lookin' at the next 16 days for Tel Baruch South Beach, and honestly, there's hardly a pulse. We've got a solid gap of over a week and a half with no real surf to get excited about.
The water temp's about average for this time of year. But the waves? They just aren't showin' up. The swell is tiny, mostly under 3 feet, and what little energy we get is weak as dishwater. For the first week and a half, the swell direction is WNW, which isn't what this place prefers – it wants it from the west. And the period is short, mostly 6 to 8 seconds, so it's weak, onshore slop. The wind is blowin' cross-on or onshore from the SW or W at 9–12 mph, choppin' it right up. On Monday morning the 7th there's a little bump, but with those cross-shore winds it's just messy.
Then there's a real dead zone from the 11th through the 15th. The swell drops to 1 ft to 3 ft, and the combined energy is in the double digits – that's barely a ripple. Honestly, you'd be better off takin' the board off the roof and just enjoyin' the beach.
The only moment worth mentionin' in this whole stretch is Thursday morning, the 16th of July. We finally get a glassy morning. WNW wind at 3 mph, dead calm. The swell bumps up just a hair to 3 ft, period stretches to 7 seconds, and the combined energy climbs to 76. The finder calls it "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions" – and a score of 1 out of 10 tells ya it's nothin' special, but at least it's not a total write-off. The direction is still WNW, so not ideal, but with glassy conditions you might find a few little waist-high peelers. It's a beginner-friendly break anyway, and it's fairly consistent, but crowds are often here, so expect company. That's about the best we got, and it's not sayin' much.
The rest of the period? Same old story. Swell stays below 3 ft, winds pick back up, and it's all "poor surf conditions" right through to the 19th. A few days with cross-shore winds might offer a tiny window, but nothin' worth paddlin' out for.
Alright, it's a tough forecast. But it won't stay this flat forever. Keep an eye on it – things can change.
Rusty.
