The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's on the menu for the next couple of weeks.
Well, I gotta be straight with you. This is a tough stretch. Looking at the whole 16-day window, we've got a proper drought on our hands. From now all the way through to the morning of the 15th of August, there's barely a whisper of proper surf. Day after day of tiny, weak, short-period windswell, and the wind is almost always blowing the wrong way – cross-on or onshore. It's a long, lean period, about two weeks of pretty much nothing worth paddling out for.
The only break on the radar is Tel Baruch South Beach. The water is running a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about the only highlight.
The first hint of something happening isn't until the 15th of August. On Saturday morning, we finally see a pulse of swell come through, with waves around 3 ft from the WNW. The combined energy jumps to a moderate (114), which is a big step up from the dusty numbers we've been seeing. The wind is light and cross-shore, which is promising. The period is a short 7 seconds, so it's not going to have that grunty groundswell feel, but it'll be rideable. The afternoon builds a fraction to 4 ft, but the wind swings onshore and gets stronger, so it'll get messy.
So, the standout session here is undeniable: Saturday morning, the 15th of August. It's the only real option on the board. It's not a world-class day, but after two weeks of flatness, a clean 3 ft wave with light wind is a welcome sight. Just keep in mind it's a beach break, so expect a bit of a crumbly wall. The rest of the forecast? Dust. But hey, it tends not to stay this quiet for long, and a change is on the horizon.
Rusty.
