The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, I'm looking at a pretty flat spell for a while. We've got a run of days with next to nothing on offer, and the conditions just aren't coming together. The water is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 86°, but that's about the only thing going for us.
The first real chance of anything rideable doesn't show up until Friday, August 28th. Even then, it's not pretty. The afternoon sees a pulse of swell from the WNW at 3 ft, but with a moderate onshore wind, it's going to be chopped up and messy. The combined energy is moderate (119), but the cross-onshore wind will ruin the surface.
Saturday, August 29th brings a similar story. Morning sees 3 ft of WNW swell, but a moderate cross-shore wind creates a cross-chop (125 energy). The afternoon is the same size, but the wind swings onshore again, making it a choppy mess.
Sunday, August 30th has a consistent 3 ft to 4 ft of swell from the W and WNW, but again, it's blown out by onshore winds in the afternoon. The morning offers a gentle cross-shore, which is the best of the bunch, but the wave quality is still poor.
The Monday, August 31st sees the swell dropping back to 3 ft, and the onshore wind remains a problem.
So, to be brutally honest, there's no standout session here. The whole window is a write-off for quality surf. The swell is small, the period is short and weak, and the wind is almost always onshore or cross-onshore, destroying any chance of clean waves. The best you can hope for is a knee-high, bumpy mess on the morning of the 30th. For an area like this, it's just one of those flat, windy runs that we have to sit through. If you're really keen, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on those afternoons with a decent breeze.
Rusty.
