The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's take a look at what's cookin' for the next couple of weeks.
Gotta be honest, the outlook for Tel Baruch South Beach is pretty grim. We’ve got a long stretch of flatness and poor conditions, at least for the next two weeks. From now through the 22nd of September, the swell is tiny, mostly 1ft to 2ft, and the wind is either cross-on or onshore, messing up any chance of a clean wave. There are plenty of glassy mornings, but with next to no swell pushin' through, it’s just a flat lake. This is a quiet period for the area, so a blank run like this isn't out of the ordinary.
The water temp is sittin' at a notable 86°, which is a touch warmer than average for this time of year.
The only real glimmer of hope shows up on the 23rd of September. Wednesday morning brings a jump in swell to 5ft from the WNW, with a period of 8 seconds and a moderate combined wave energy of 313. There’s a light cross-onshore breeze, which could keep it rideable. The afternoon has the same size swell and a 9-second period, bumping the energy up to 352, but the wind swings onshore and picks up to 12 mph, making things get sloppy.
That's the one window to keep an eye on, but it's a long way off, so treat it as promising but not set in stone. For any beginner, that 5ft swell on the 23rd might be a bit intimidating, especially if the wind picks up. For the rest of the run, honestly, the setup looks more like a kite surfer's playground than a paddle surfer's, with constant onshore and cross-onshore winds and weak, choppy conditions.
Stay patient, but don't get your hopes up too high.
Rusty.
