The Lowdown
Alright, grab your board, 'cause it's gonna be a minute before we see anything worth paddling out for. This is Rusty, and I'm looking at the next two weeks for the Tel Baruch area. It's a bit of a famine right now, so let's talk about what's actually on offer.
The short story is that we have a long stretch of tiny, weak surf ahead. For the next week and a bit, we're looking at ankle-biters. From Wednesday the 19th right through to Monday the 31st of August, the waves are just not there. We're talking 1ft to 2ft of slop, with periods mostly in the 4 to 6 second range. That's just wind chop, not real swell. The energy readings are weak, down in the low tens or twenties, and the wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, so it's just going to be bumpy and messy. There are a few pockets of glassy mornings, like Friday the 21st, Monday the 24th, and Tuesday the 25th, but even then, the swell is just too small and weak to do anything with. It's a long, flat, frustrating stretch. I know, it hurts. All that clean, glassy water and nothing to push you into it.
But, there's a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a long way out, but the models are showing something finally moving in for the first week of September. It’s still about the only show in town, so let's call it the one to keep an eye on.
The standout window, and I mean the only one, is the morning of Tuesday, the 1st of September. Now, this is promising but remember, it's over a week away, so treat it with a bit of cautious optimism. The swell is expected to push up to 5ft out of the W, with the period jumping to 9 seconds. Combined energy looks like it could hit 380 (moderate wave energy), which is a real pulse of power compared to what we've been seeing. The wind is forecast to be light and glassy, which would be perfect. At Tel Baruch South Beach (Tel Baruch South Beach), that could be a great day to get some proper waves. 5ft is solid and fun for a lot of surfers, but it might be a touch big for the absolute beginners, so read the conditions when you get there. The morning window looks fantastic, but that afternoon the wind is supposed to swing around to the north and onshore, so you'll want to get out early.
After that, the swell backs off slightly, but Tuesday the 1st is the clear highlight. There's another bump on the last day, the 3rd of September, but the energy is much weaker and the wind isn't as clean, so don't get too excited about that.
So, basically, don't waste your energy on the next ten days. Give the board a rest, maybe check the tides, and set your alarm for the morning of September 1st. It's a long shot, but it could be the one good session in the whole window. Keep your fingers crossed.
Rusty, signing off.
