The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next stretch.
Honestly, I’m looking at the 16-day window and it’s a tough one. We’ve got a long quiet spell to kick things off. The first real surf on offer doesn’t show up until Tuesday the 28th of August, and even then, it’s not a classic. The first week and a half is pretty much a write-off with tiny, weak swell and no real energy to speak of.
The best of the bunch, and the only day I’d really get excited about, is that Friday the 28th of August. Tel Baruch South Beach sees a little pulse of life. The morning swell picks up to 3 ft from the WNW with a period of 8 seconds, and the combined energy hits 102 – that’s moderate, but it’s the most we’ll see. The wind is a light breeze from the SW, so it’s cross-shore, which is workable. It’s not a clean, glassy dream, but it’s the only real window of opportunity in this whole outlook. The crowd factor is “often” here, so expect company.
The morning of Saturday the 29th of August is another look, with similar 3 ft swell from the WNW (86 energy), and a light NNE breeze making for a cross-shore, glassy-ish feel. It’s a decent runner-up, but the swell period is a touch shorter at 7 seconds. The water temp is sitting at 86°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.
Other than that, it’s a long, flat, and mostly choppy stretch. There are a few glassy mornings with tiny waves (1 ft to 2 ft) but nothing with any push. The swell is small, the period is short, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, making for a messy, frustrating wait. There’s a massive gap of zero recommendations from the 18th of August right through to the 27th of August.
So, to sum it up: wait for the 28th of August. It’s not a standout by any stretch, but it’s the only game in town. The rest of the time, you’re better off finding something else to do. The board stays in the car.
Rusty.
