The Lowdown
G’day, Rusty here. Let’s be honest—this stretch doesn’t have much to offer. Tel Baruch South Beach is the only break in the mix, and the surf is flat and unremarkable for the full 16 days. The water temp is running 86°, which is a little warmer than usual for the season.
From the 9th of September onward, the swell barely reaches 2ft, with short, weak periods mostly between 6 and 8 seconds. The combined wave energy stays low, only hitting 41–50 on a couple of days, but most days it’s in the weak teens and twenties. Nothing to write home about. Swell is coming from the WNW, which suits the spot, but it’s just not there.
The mornings are the only bright spot—glassy conditions with light northerly winds early on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th. For a beginner spot that’s fairly consistent, you’ll get tiny, clean ankle-biters (1ft–2ft). But by afternoon, the wind picks up to 12 mph from the NW, making it cross-on and choppy. On Tuesday the 15th of September morning, there’s a slight bump to 2ft with a 7-second period and 46 wave energy, but it’s still poor surf quality.
After the 18th, it gets even smaller—down to 0.7ft–2ft with periods of just 4–6 seconds. The 20th of September Sunday morning has a clean look with cross-off wind, but the swell is only 2ft and weak. The 24th of September Thursday morning is glassy again, but just 1ft.
There’s no standout session here. The whole 16 days is a flat spell. If you’re a beginner keen for a glassy paddle, the mornings on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 16th are your best shot at a tiny clean wave. For the rest of us, the afternoon winds make it look more interesting for kite surfing than paddling. Forecasts can always change, but for now, it’s a quiet one.
Rusty.
