The Lowdown
Alright, it’s Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you—this is a tough one. The only spot on the radar is Tel Baruch South Beach, and it’s a proper beginner’s setup, fairly exposed to the west-northwest. But honestly, the whole 16-day window is a bust. There’s not a single time slot where the surf quality gets a thumbs up. You’re looking at a long, dry spell with no real rideable waves on offer.
Water temp is sitting at 84°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least a paddle won’t be cold, but that’s the only comfort.
The first few days from Monday the 20th through Thursday the 24th of July are flat and messy. Swell heights barely scrape 1 ft to 3 ft, with periods of 5 to 7 seconds—short-period, weak stuff. The winds are mostly cross or cross-onshore, blowing 6 to 12 mph, chopping up what little ripple there is.
Friday the 24th through the weekend of the 25th-26th of July see a slight bump up to 3 ft on Saturday morning, with a period of 8 seconds and a combined energy of 117 (moderate energy). But the wind is still cross or onshore, and the surf is still rated poor. Not worth the drive.
The week of the 27th of July has a couple of glassy mornings—Monday the 27th and the following Monday the 3rd of August—with winds dropping to 3 mph and zero chop. Swell is still tiny, though, at 2 ft to 3 ft. It’s clean, but there’s nothing to ride.
The very end of the period, around the 31st of July and the 1st of August, has the biggest swell of the run—4 ft on Friday afternoon and 3 ft on Saturday morning, both with a period of 8 seconds and combined energy hitting 138 (strongish energy). But the wind is onshore or cross, and the surf is still flagged as poor. No good.
Bottom line: nothing is breaking well here. The whole 16-day forecast is a no-go for surf. Sometimes it’s just like that in this area. Forecasts can change, but for now, leave the board at home.
