The Lowdown
Alright, let’s get real about the surf. Tel Baruch South Beach, it’s gonna be a tough stretch. We’ve got a 16-day window ahead and, honestly, there’s no proper swell on the cards. The first real chance of anything even remotely rideable doesn't show up until Wednesday the 16th, and even that's a stretch. Before that, it’s a wasteland of tiny dribble and cross-onshore junk. You’re looking at a solid 5-day gap with zero to offer. That’s the kind of run that makes you want to take up golf.
When we finally see a pulse of energy on the 16th, it’s weak. We’re talking about a 3 ft to 4 ft swell from the WNW with a short, crumbly 7-8 second period. Not exactly gonna light the place up. The energy numbers are in the low to mid hundreds (101-163), which is just barely enough to push some water around. The standout is the morning of the 16th – glassy conditions, light wind, and the swell bumps up to 3 ft. That’s your window. It’s the only morning in this whole run with a score above zero, and it’s still only rated as ordinary. You’ll get some ankle to waist-high lines, maybe the odd waist-high one if you’re lucky. The wind is NW and light, so it could be clean, but the waves will lack any real push.
For the rest of the time, the NW winds are going to be your enemy. Most afternoons are blown out with onshore or cross-onshore winds, chopping up what little waist-high slop is out there. Mornings are generally cleaner with some glassy patches, but there’s just no swell behind them. We're talking 1 ft to 2 ft on most days. The water temp is a scorching 86° with a 5° anomaly, which is notably warmer than usual for this time of year. You might as well be in the tub.
This is a beach break that’s fairly exposed, and the swell direction doesn’t match the optimum. It’s all WNW, but this spot wants W. That's part of the problem. On the 16th, when we do get a little more size, the WNW swell will be breaking a bit too straight to offer any real shape quality. It’s definitely not a beginner’s day either, because while it’s not big, the currents and the sudden bump in energy on a beach break can be a handful.
Honestly, the setup is looking more interesting for a kite than a surfboard for most of this run. The conditions are choppy and blown out, with moderate breezes and small, weak waves. The only time I’d even bother paddling out is the morning of the 16th, and maybe the glassy mornings on the 19th and 24th, but you’ll be fighting for scraps. It’s bleak, but this stretch tends not to stay this poor for long. Forecasts can change, and a new swell could appear on the charts any day now. Keep the board waxed, but don't hold your breath. Rusty out.
