The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you—this 16-day stretch for the area is a tough one to call good surf. We're looking at a long, quiet run with nothing that really stands out as a proper session.
Right off the bat, the water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. But the swell? It's just not happening. For the first week and a half, from the start of the period through to around the 13th of August, we've got tiny, weak waves—mostly under 2 ft—with a short period around 4 to 7 seconds. The combined energy is barely registering, with values hanging between 10 and 44 (weak energy). The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, making for choppy, messy conditions. There are a couple of glassy mornings on the 4th and 11th of August, but with the swell being so small and weak, it's not going to give you anything rideable. Honestly, it's a bit of a gap.
Things start to look a little more promising around the 14th of August. The swell picks up a touch, hitting about 3 ft to 4 ft from the WNW, with the period stretching to 8 seconds. The combined energy climbs into the moderate range (85 to 206). The morning of the 15th of August sees the best of it, with a 4 ft WNW swell and a gentle cross-onshore breeze. It's still not what I'd call good surf, but it's the closest we get to something with a bit of push. The afternoon of the 15th gets a bit bigger at 4 ft, but the onshore wind spoils it. For the 16th, it drops back down.
Given the size, the best of this little pulse is still manageable for most, but it's not going to be a standout session. The wind is never truly offshore, so the quality is always a bit compromised. It's more of a "get wet if you're desperate" kind of situation.
The bottom line: there are no real standouts in this forecast. Tel Baruch South Beach is the only break on the cards, and it's a fairly exposed beach with a consistent, but small, WNW swell. It's a beginner-friendly spot, but with the crowds being often, you'll be competing for scraps. The best bet is the morning of the 15th of August, but keep expectations low.
Stay patient, folks. It's a flat spell.
Rusty.
