Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tel Baruch South Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Tel Baruch South Beach. I’ve got to be straight with you – it’s a tough outlook. We’re looking at a long stretch where the ocean just isn’t playing ball for paddle surfing. This spot is a beach break that’s fairly exposed, and the key to it working is a solid W swell, but we’re just not seeing it.
Right now, the water’s sitting at a toasty 82°, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year – that’s one nice thing you’ll feel if you get in, but that’s about the only highlight for a while.
We start off on Wednesday the 8th of July with the best swell we’ll see in this whole window – 4 ft of short-period WNW swell. But the wind is a cross-on from the WSW at 16 mph, which is turning it into a choppy mess. The energy is weak, only at 136, and the words “poor surf conditions” are written all over it. It’s just not worth paddling out.
From there, the next ten days are grim. From Thursday the 9th right through to the 19th of July, the swell drops and hovers between a pathetic 2 ft and 3 ft. The period is short, mostly 6 to 7 seconds, so there’s no grunt behind it. The wind is either cross-on or directly onshore, and the energy readings fall into the weak category, mostly between 19 and 84. There’s one brief moment on Saturday the 11th morning where it goes glassy, but the swell is only 2 ft. That’s a pond, not surf. You might get a small knee-high ripple, but don’t expect a wave you can ride.
There is a slight uptick in the third week. On the 21st of July, we see the swell bump up to 3 ft again, and again on the 23rd of July a similar small pulse of 3 ft WNW swell. But it’s still short-period stuff with onshore or cross winds, and still clinging to that “poor surf conditions” tag.
Honestly, for a beach break that’s this exposed, with this constant onshore flow and tiny swell, this whole 16-day window is a write-off for surfing. If the wind had turned offshore we’d be talking, but it doesn’t. With these conditions, it actually looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, because at least you’ve got consistent wind. But for us surfers? This is a blank run. The break is fairly consistent, so it tends not to stay this poor for long – forecasts can change and bring a proper swell, but this particular 16-day run is a washout. Stay patient, Rusty out.
