The Lowdown
Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. I’ve looked over the numbers for Tel Baruch South Beach, and I gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch ahead. The forecast shows a whole lot of nothing for the next 16 days. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with no real surf to get excited about.
The first possible session, if you can even call it that, is right now on Monday afternoon, August 3rd. The swell is a tiny 2ft from the NW, but the wind is a messy cross-on at 12 mph, making it choppy and ugly. The wave energy is weak (13). It’s gonna be a frustrating paddle.
Tuesday morning, August 4th, offers a moment of calm. The wind goes glassy, and the swell drops to 2ft from the NW. It’s clean, but there’s just no push. The water is sitting at a warm 85°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least the dip won’t be cold.
The pattern just repeats itself. Tiny swell, with periods between 5 and 8 seconds, and winds that are mostly onshore or cross-onshore. We get a few morning windows with light winds, like on August 11th and August 16th, where the surface might look clean, but the swell is still puny—2ft to 3ft from the WNW. The energy just never gets going, with the highest reading hitting only 68 (moderate) on the afternoon of August 13th. Even then, the wind is cross-on and choppy.
The swell direction is mostly from the WNW, which is pretty much straight onshore for this beach. The optimum direction is from the west, so it’s never quite right. The whole setup looks more suited for a light wind kite session than a surf. For a beginner-friendly beach, it’s a shame, but when the swell is this small and the wind is this bad, you’re better off staying home.
There are no standouts in this 16-day window. Not a single day gets a passing grade. It’s a blank run, and honestly, for an area like this, it’s not that unusual. Forecasts can change, but right now, don’t hold your breath.
Stay salty,
Rusty
