The Lowdown

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you – it's a tough stretch ahead for Tel Baruch South Beach. We've got a 16-day window in front of us, and honestly, it's a bit of a blank run. The guidance doesn't rate this spot as consistent, so a quiet period like this isn't totally out of the ordinary for the area.

The water is sitting at 86°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year – you'll feel that.

We kick off on Friday, 28 August, with a tiny 1 ft of swell from the WNW, period a weak 5 seconds. The wind is offshore from the WNW at 9 mph, but the energy is just not there – only 9 (weak). It's a no-go. Saturday and Sunday have a bit more size, reaching 6 ft on the Sunday morning, but the wind swings cross and cross-on, creating a lumpy, choppy mess. The energy on that Sunday morning swell jumps to 392 (moderate), but the poor wind kills it. The swell period is still a short 8 seconds, so it's just weak, wind-blown junk.

The pattern stays the same through the first week: tiny waves, often with onshore or cross-onshore winds. We get some glassy mornings, like on Thursday, 3 September, and Saturday, 5 September, but the swell is only 1 ft with periods of 6 seconds and energy values around 13. You might get a knee-high ripple, but that's about it. "Surfable waves but very ordinary conditions" is how the data describes Monday, 7 September morning – and that's the best we get, with a 3 ft swell from the WNW, period 8 seconds, clean with a glassy wind. The energy is still low at 78.

For the rest of the second week, from 8 September onward, it's more of the same: tiny swells (1 ft to 3 ft), short periods (5-7 seconds), and very low combined energy (12-62). Most days are either glassy but flat or onshore and choppy. There's no stand-out swell, no clean head-high wave to get excited about.

If you're desperate for a paddle, the best bet is the morning of Monday, 7 September. That's the only session where the waves are even considered surfable, with a bit of shape and glassy conditions. But honestly, with the size so small and the energy so low, it's a long way to go for a grovel. There is no true standout in this outlook.

This setup, with the persistent onshore wind and small, weak swell, looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

Rusty.
