The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty checkin’ in from the shore. Gotta be honest with you – the outlook for Tel Baruch South Beach over the next 16 days is a bit of a tough one. The swell is tiny and weak, and the wind just doesn’t want to play nice for most of the run. The water's sitting at a warm 84°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t need a thick suit.
The first real surfable moment doesn’t show up until Sunday, the 16th of August, and even then it’s a “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions” kind of vibe. Before that, from Sunday the 2nd right through to Saturday the 15th, it’s almost all poor surf conditions with very little energy. The combined energy sits mostly in the low two-digit range (20–48) until the 15th, when it nudges into the three-digit range at 101 (Saturday morning) and 135 (Saturday afternoon) – but that’s still only moderate energy, and the wind is messy. On the 15th, the swell is around 3 ft to 4 ft from the WNW with a period of 7–8 seconds, but the wind is either cross or onshore, so it’s chopped up.
The only real standout? Sunday morning, the 16th of August. Everything comes together for a short window. The wind turns glassy, the swell is 3 ft from the WNW at 7 seconds, and the energy is 84 – still moderate, but the clean conditions make it the best of the whole run. That’s your window. After that, it’s back to poor conditions through Monday the 17th.
Honestly, for a place that’s a beach break, this run is a tough one. If you’re a beginner, the tiny swell might be okay, but the crowds are often there, so don’t expect a quiet session. The setup is more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on most days, given the chop and onshore winds.
This is Rusty, signing off. Stay patient.
