Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's happening for our local stretch.
First up, we're looking at Tel Baruch South Beach. The water temperature is sitting at 82°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of the year. Honestly, looking through the entire 16-day window, it's a tough one. The pattern is pretty grim from start to finish. The forecast keeps calling it "poor surf conditions," and there's no way around it. The swell is weak, the wind is rarely working with us, and there's just no energy to be found.
We kick off on Monday, July 6th, with a tiny 3ft swell from the WNW at a short 7-second period and a west wind blowing onshore. The combined energy is just 68 (weak), and it doesn't get much better. Tuesday and Wednesday see the swell bumping up to 3ft and 4ft, with a bit more energy (moderate range, hitting 116 to 138), but the wind is a messy cross-onshore from the SW or WSW. The 3 to 4ft is small enough for beginners, but with that wind, it's pure chop.
We get a little tease on Thursday the 9th, with a cross-shore breeze and only a gentle breeze, but the swell drops back to 3ft with a 7-second period and just 72 energy. It's barely breaking. From Friday the 10th right through to the final record on Tuesday, July 21st, it's a washout. The swell never gets above 3ft again, and for most of that second week, it's sitting at 1ft to 3ft with periods of 6 to 8 seconds. The combined energy values are pathetic, mostly in the teens and twenties (weak). There is a glassy moment on the morning of Sunday, July 12th, with the wind going glassy and the swell at a tiny 2ft, but there's just no push to ride.
The one session that stands out as the best on offer across the whole 16 days is Wednesday, July 8th afternoon. We've got a 4ft swell from the W at an 8-second period. The combined energy hits 138 (moderate), which is the most energy we see. The wind is cross-onshore, but for this area with this weak of a setup, it's the biggest, most energetic wave we're going to get. It's still not good, but it's the least bad.
Because there's really no decent surf at all for a full 16-day run, and the break is fairly exposed with these poor conditions, this setup actually looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. There's just nothing here to get excited about for a surfer.
Stay patient, folks. Forecasts can change.
