The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Gonna be real with you: this is a long, flat stretch. The surf is tiny, the energy is weak, and there’s nothing to get excited about. We’ve got a lot of days with barely a ripple, but there is one small window that might give you something to work with.
The best of the lot is Tel Baruch South Beach. It’s a beginner-friendly, fairly consistent spot, but it’s an exposed beach break that needs west swell – and it’s just not getting it. The only real chance is Wednesday morning, September 9th. The swell is a measly 2ft from the WNW, but the period bumps up to 9 seconds, which is the longest in the whole forecast. The combined wave energy is weak (72), but the wind is the key. It’s glassy, with a light SSW breeze at just 3 mph, so the surface will be clean as a whistle. For a beginner or a longboard, this is your only chance at a few fun, crumbly waves. The water is about average for this time of year.
After that, it’s a long, slow fade. The morning of Tuesday, September 8th is also glassy, but with only 2ft of swell and a short 6-second period, the energy is even lower (36). It’s surfable, but barely.
From the 10th of September onward, the swell drops to 1ft to 2ft for two straight weeks. The periods are short, mostly 5 to 6 seconds, and the energy numbers are in the single digits or low teens. There are plenty of glassy mornings – the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th – but with that tiny, weak swell, it’s just flat, clean, and not worth the paddle. The wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore in the afternoons, making it choppy on top of the flatness.
This is a proper flat spell. We’re looking at a full two-week gap with no real recommendation after that Wednesday morning. It’s one of those times where the sea just goes to sleep. Keep an eye out, but don’t hold your breath.
Rusty.
