The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, this is a tough one. For Tel Baruch South Beach, the entire 16-day window is looking pretty grim for paddle surfing. You’d be hard-pressed to find a rideable wave in the mix. The swell is tiny, the periods are short, and the wind is mostly onshore or cross-onshore, making for messy conditions. There's absolutely no standout day in this run.
Looking at the data, the highest combined energy we see is a weak 71 (on Friday the 31st of July morning), but even then the swell is only 3 ft with a short 8-second period and cross-onshore wind. That’s a recipe for bumpy, gutless surf. The water temp is sitting at 84 °F, which is a touch warmer than normal for the time of year.
On the 5th and 6th of August, we get a couple of mornings with glassy conditions and a small 2 ft windswell from the WNW, but the period is only 6 seconds. While the surface might look clean, the wave energy is weak (33 and 29), so you’d be scratching for anything with a push. It’ll look like a lake out there.
Honestly, for a predominantly beach setup like this, with such small swell and persistent onshore winds, this stretch looks more appealing for a kite surfer than a traditional paddle surfer. There just isn’t the oomph for a decent surf. It’s a blank run, and for a spot with fairly consistent exposure, this is a bit of a bummer. Forecasts can change, but right now, I’d leave the board at home for the full 16 days.
Rusty.
