The Lowdown
Alright, mate, let's have a look at what's on the table for the next couple of weeks. Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with you – it's a quiet stretch ahead. The first real surf to speak of doesn't show up until the 29th of August, and even then, it's a slow start. We're looking at a solid gap of nothing much before that date.
The water's sitting around 86° which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you'll be comfortable in a spring suit.
Let's talk about Tel Baruch South Beach. The first date with anything worth paddling out for is Saturday the 29th of August. We've got a tiny 3 ft swell from the WNW, but the period is a short 8 seconds, so it's not going to have much push. The wave energy is weak (69). The morning is the call here with a light cross-shore breeze from the SSW, keeping the surface clean. The afternoon gets blown out with an onshore wind. The following days are much of the same – small, weak, and mostly messy. The swell bumps up a touch early on the 6th of September, hitting 4 ft from the WNW, with the combined energy hitting moderate (176), but the wind is cross-shore, and the period is still a short 8 seconds. It's a beach break, so with the swell direction coming from the WNW, it's not going to be a standout. The period is too short for any real quality.
Honestly, for the whole 16 days, there's nothing that screams "go now." The waves are small, the energy is low, and the wind is often onshore or cross-shore. The best chance for a clean, small-wave session is a glassy morning, like the 3rd or 5th of September, where you might get a 2 ft to 2 ft wave with no wind. But it's a fickle spot. With the swell being this small and the wind often poor, this setup might be more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer. It's a fairly consistent break, but the conditions just aren't delivering.
Rusty.
