Tel Baruch South Beach Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, let’s be straight with you. Looking at the full sixteen-day stretch from Tel Baruch South Beach, and I gotta tell ya, it’s gonna be a tough watch for us surfers. There’s no decent swell on the cards at all, and the conditions are going to stay pretty marginal for the entire period.

The wave heights barely get above a knee-high slop, and the energy in the water is weak for the most part. It starts off with a combined energy of just 11 (weak), bumps up to 30 (weak) on the 15th, and then hovers in that weak range for most of the run. We do see a slight peak on the 27th when the energy reaches 77 (still weak to moderate), with the swell pushing 3ft from the WNW, but even then, the winds mess it up. So, honestly, don’t get your hopes up.

The water is much warmer than normal for this time of year, sitting at 85.5°F, which is a couple of degrees above where it should be — that’s a pretty notable bump. But warm water doesn’t fix a flat ocean.

September 13th – 16th (Sunday – Wednesday):
This opening stretch is pretty rough. We’ve got a mix of glassy mornings with tiny 1–2ft swells coming from the WNW, but the afternoons get chopped up by onshore winds from the NW at around 12 mph. The mornings are clean, sure, but there’s just no push. A couple of mornings have that glassy feel, like on Monday and Tuesday, but it’s still only knee-high dribble. On Wednesday morning we see 2.5ft at 7 seconds, which is a touch better, but the period is still short, and the swell is weak (57 energy). It’s a beginner’s wave at best, and even then, it’s not looking like much fun.

September 17th – 20th (Thursday – Sunday):
Same story — small, weak WNW swells in the 1.5ft to 2.5ft range. The mornings offer some clean windows, especially on the 17th when it’s glassy, but the afternoon cross-onshore winds from the NW make it choppy. The swell direction is fine for Tel Baruch, which is fairly exposed to the west, but there’s just no size or power behind it. Energy levels stay in the high teens to low 40s, which is weak. Not worth paddling out for unless you’re desperate for a splash.

September 21st – 24th (Monday – Thursday):
This stretch is the weakest of the lot. We’re down to 1ft to 1.5ft most days, with the energy dropping as low as 9 on the 21st. That’s almost flat. A few mornings have a glassy surface, like Tuesday the 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd, but it’s just tiny, slow waves. The period is only around 6 seconds, so it’s a real crumbly, gutless swell. There’s nothing to get excited about here.

September 25th – 28th (Friday – Monday):
The last few days see a bit of an uptick, but it’s still far from good. The 27th has the most size we’ve seen all run, with 3ft from the WNW at 7 seconds. The energy is 77, which is the highest of the forecast, but the period is still short and the winds are cross-onshore from the NW at 12 mph in the afternoon. The morning of the 27th has lighter winds, but it’s still only a weak, short-period swell. The 28th is similar, with 2.5ft and moderate energy (61), but the afternoon is cloudy and chopped up.

So, here’s the deal. There is no standout session in this entire 16-day window. It’s all just small, weak, and mostly messy. If you’re a beginner, you might get a few tiny glassy waves in the mornings, but for anyone else, it’s not worth the effort. The best you can say is that it's not completely flat, but it’s barely surfable. I wouldn’t even call it a “poor” run — I’d call it a “blank” run. This is just what this stretch of coast does sometimes when there’s no proper swell in the ocean.

Keep the board in the car, but don’t bother waxing it up just yet. Something better has to come eventually.
