The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you. This 16-day stretch for Playa Parguito is a tough one. We’re looking at a whole lot of onshore and cross-onshore breeze messing up what little swell we’ve got. It’s gonna be a waiting game.
The water temp is sitting at 80°, which is just about normal for this time of year, so at least you won’t need a thick suit. The first few days are pretty grim. We’ve got small, short-period windswell in the 3ft to 4ft range, but the wind is just killing it. The energy is weak, with values mostly in the 60s to 80s, and it’s just lumpy and choppy. Not worth getting wet for, honestly.
There’s a little pulse of energy that shows up on Friday the 14th. The swell jumps to 7ft from the NE, with a period of 12 seconds, and the energy reading jumps way up to 1302. That’s a real shot of groundswell. But even then, the wind is questionable, and the forecast calls it marginal at best. It’s a tease, more than anything.
After that, it’s back to the grind. The following week is more of the same: small swell, poor shape, and that constant breeze. The 16th sees a drop back down to less than 3ft, and the energy stays weak. The end of the window, around the 21st and 22nd, shows a bit more size pushing back in, but it’s still short-period and messy.
So, truth be told, there’s no standout session in this whole run. The best bet, if you’re desperate, is to keep an eye on that Friday the 14th window, but don’t hold your breath. With this much wind and small, poor-quality surf, this setup looks a whole lot more interesting for the kite surfers than for us paddle surfers. Keep the board in the car and the wax in the bag. It’s gonna be a while.
Rusty, out.
